    I’ve tried all the gel polishes and price point aside DND is my favorite hands down ! Love how pigmented they all are as well as the viscosity the consistency is perfect. I won’t name manufactures but there are two that are at least double the cost with less than half of the pigment coat for coat over DND. Seriously, you can take the black licorice and dam near cover up a white base with a single coat !

Also, can you mix base & top coats? I’ve bought the original top coats but I’m wondering if they can be used with the DC gels too? Thanks in advance 🤗💛

I'm on the hunt for a good top coat and base coat that doesn't have an offensive odor....at an affordable price. I used DND top and base for about 1 year because you can’t beat the price point. I found that that awesome durability was a double edge sword when it came to removal. Compared to OPI base which I now use, DND would not release from the nail and required a lot of scraping. Within 15 minutes OPI completely comes off and DND would barely budge. I did LOVE DND’s durability until I started to use color conditioner and my nails all turned purple! It’s actually what brought me to your channel. I’d love for you to test these brands for color stylist as you did with the Young Nails top. Nonetheless, great content! Keep it up.

      dreamingnights90 I definitely didn’t notice any issues in the soaking off I always buff to soak and i do use the OPI remover which I found helps a little bit more than just using regular acetone but I’ll definitely pay attention the next time I use it and I’ll make sure to soak one hand with the OPI remover and one with regular acetone to see how it differs. dreamingnights90 And as for staining and durability right now the best one that I’ve used is the indestructible gel. I have a client with super magenta hair and she never uses light colors because it is staining 24 seven she gets it touched up every three weeks and with the indestructible Gel she has had zero stains so far. I’ll probably use the D&D on her next time to see whether or not it holds up to her color. I have so much product to try out it is crazy But I am trying all!

    Hi Oh My Gel, thank you so much for this video, recently I bought this brand Mia Secret, the gel line is called GELUX, and i dont know whats going bcz starts to peel off two days later, don´t know if it is bcz the gel might be expired or if this brand is not good? With your video I´m gonna try the DND gel and I have a question, it doesn´t matter if I use the DND top and base coat with a different brand of gel color? for example CND or OPI? I read that otherwise the gel wont stick to the nail, but I think they just say that to force you to buy their own top and base coat.

      Girl let me tell you I have bottles of Gel that I still use and they are over four years old as long as you are taking care of the product and it’s not contaminated or anything it’s going to last you. The issue you’re having without seeing your nails and knowing how you’re applying it I can tell you is probably about the process how you’re prepping your nails polishing your nails etc. it takes time but practice makes perfect! I’m currently reviewing lots of cheap Amazon brands and I always have long lasting where regardless of how cheap the product I bought is but lots of reviews are coming and I will be recapping the Manicure process again but definitely check out some of my beginning videos on the nail prep!

      Thank you so much! Make sure you check out some of my first videos that go through each step of the manager process. The most important thing is how you’re handling your nails not necessarily the product you’re putting on them if they’re weak I would suggest keeping them short and rounded over the next few weeks until we can get some of that new healthy nail grown out to the tip. It will be stronger. Make sure that you were constantly pushing your cuticle back when you get out of the shower every day just use your nails put your key to go back every day that will promote growth and under no circumstance do you peel any product off your nails! I hope you start seeing an improvement in your natural nails soon 🤗💅🏻

    • @TheNaturalNailGuru
      @TheNaturalNailGuru  ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s def odd! I’ve used opi for years and many diff lights from the cheapest to the most expensive and there’s only one color that ever gave me that problem and that was my gosh I do I just “pump up the volume”, which sucks because it’s such a cute color! But if there’s an issue with all of the colors than something has to be at the bottom of it. I would need to see more to start determining what could be the problem. You can send me pictures or video of your OPI bottles the lamp that you’re using may be in a video of you trying to cure one finger and hopefully I’d be able to help you out a little bit more. @oh_my_gel comment your IG if you do send me pictures just to make sure it does not get lost in the mix. I've used this DND gel base and top coat a couple of times and no matter how much I've scuffed the top coat off (by hand or e-file) and no matter the length of time I let them soak. The gel polish isn't cracking like others I've used before, so removing it has been more difficult than other gel polishes. Do you have any insight on how to remove this seamlessly? Because I definitely agree that this is a long lasting gel polish!

    • @TheNaturalNailGuru
      @TheNaturalNailGuru  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow that’s crazy I definitely don’t have that much of an issue removing it I just buffet really good with a gritty file and make sure to use pure acetone as opposed to polish remover that can definitely make a difference

    @ashlynnelefrancois8321 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I get chipping near the end of two weeks but lately I have been using a young nails base coat. do you think that could be the issue? also do you use their dip systems? I'm also struggling with chipping in that brand too...

    • @TheNaturalNailGuru
      @TheNaturalNailGuru  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Personally do not like dip it’s an acrylic. I only use soak off gel polish for hands there is no exception in my shop. And in my experience it all comes down to the manicure process I have used many different brands from cheap to expensive and I would say 95% of the time I get perfect where every single time and I show it in the clients that test out the products. It’s all about the prep very rarely is it a product issue But practice makes better!

    What causes stains? I use dnd mostly and have a few gélish but there’s times I’ll get stains in the first week even and then there’s times in 2 1/2 weeks they’re good as new

    • @TheNaturalNailGuru
      @TheNaturalNailGuru  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dayana velasco A variety of things can cause stains it could come from , make up, make up remover or face wash stuff , hair products, ironing or blow drying hair because of the heat, exposing your nails to direct heat. Spices, and a variety of clothes. Harsh cleaning supplies - not usually the every day ones that most people use. Any of those things depending on the chemicals in the product could cause stains. I have plenty of clients that use a lot of product and they never have any stain so it really just depends on the type that you’re using. You are able to narrow down determine what it could be but it really takes a lot of paying attention. But when the nails do stain it’s almost immediate take a look at the stuff that you expose your nails to on a daily basis and try to observe them every morning every night so you can figure out what’s causing it ;)

    • @TheNaturalNailGuru
      @TheNaturalNailGuru  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Don’t recall having an issue with bubbles and def not something I get often from any brand. If you get bubbles make sure to be easy when putting the top/brush back in the bottle the “pumping” of the top in and out the bottle could push air into the polish making bubbles. It’s def possible that the polish is defective but that’s not usual if it’s happening to many of ur polishes then it could be how it’s handled 😉

      I use so many diff base color for French def depends on the preference of my client some like neutral sheer, a pink sheer and some don’t like sheer at all so they go for a full coverage base. I like using “bare my soul” (OPI) it is a neutral sheer color. “Baby take a vow” OPI for a sheer pink, and “ put it in neutral” OPI for a not so sheer color that not really neutral but not too pink. Question... so I have been doing my nails alone for the last 6 months I only use DND products.. This last time I did my nails black DND-055 and used my gel lamp and my nails did not dry.. The only thing different that I did was do my nails on a glass table. ( No bottom on the nail lamp, it did not come with one). So you know if that would affect the drying. Because I was SO Upset, and because of this Now I have black streaks in my DND top coat.

    • @TheNaturalNailGuru
      @TheNaturalNailGuru  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      rastagal0919
      The plate at the bottom really shouldn’t affect the curing. If gel is not curing it can be that the coats are being applied to thick Or that the curing lamp itself is not strong enough anymore. It’s rough to tell if that’s the case because the lamps don’t tell you when the light is not as powerful 🙄I would definitely make sure that you are applying thin coats especially for a black polish it’s usually really pigmented. And double up the curing time see if that helps.

    • @ginagee5627

      After doing this review with those three clients I continued using the D&D Joe base and topcoat until the bottle is pretty much done I never noticed any of those issues I will be doing a follow up to This review since I did continue using the product they did find other things with it however it does require me to review a little bit further before updating. I have had issues that you were talking about with some top coats and actually it’s happened to me with Opi it seems to happen when there’s either something on the brush or the nail that’s causing it to separate and if the coatand applying is too thin it’ll happen a lot something that can definitely be worked with but I will be looking into it further it’s really understand why that happens. Sometimes it could be that the gel was somehow contaminated but I promise I’ll be getting more info on this issue soon and stay tuned for a more in-depth review on this product as it will be coming out over the next few weeks

    • @TheNaturalNailGuru
      @TheNaturalNailGuru  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Callie Smith-Everett Got a video coming out real soon real quick about this but essentially if you have cracks along the tips of your nails it’s usually meaning that you’re banging your nails into stuff and the gel is flexible but it will crack. If the cracks are specifically on the corners of the tips then some thing as simple as changing your shape will make a significant difference. If the cracks are all along the tip from side to side you just need to be more cautious because the nails are banging into things with your day-to-day activities. Nails could be thin and weak which would contribute to it being able to bend much easier, maybe they’re just a little too long for your day-to-day activities and keeping them a little bit shorter will help. And my recommendation on how to deal without being able to look at your nails is keep them shorter don’t make them so square and make sure you’re pushing your cuticles back on a regular basis to promote nail growth so we get much stronger healthier nails to those tips. Promise quick video on this coming soon

I try to go directly through the manufacturer or an authorized retailer before going to Amazon although on Amazon some of those big beauty supply stores do sell products and you can be sure that you’re buying from an authorized source. I’ve never had any issues with the polishes that I’ve purchased through Amazon 😉

    • @TheNaturalNailGuru
      @TheNaturalNailGuru  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Definitely didn’t have any of those issues with this review. Usually the stains on the topcoat come from products the clients are using or clothing or heat. I am also on a mission of finding a non-stain topcoat it is not that easy the only non-stain topcoat I ever found was indestructible gel and I cannot find it anywhere anymore that was an awesome topcoat

      @@xoPanchitaxo I have already reviewed it it’s one of my earlier videos. That topcoat I would only recommend using with acrylic or maybe a hard gel because it cracks and shatters every single time so unfortunately not something I would ever recommend . And it’s sad because it is truly a no stain topcoat and super shiny but not a quality product for natural nails it needs a hard surface underneath to prevent it from cracking😩

    Hello i wana purchase this online but i am confused why every top and base coat has different number for example base coat 400 top coat 500 and the ones you used are higher numbers why is that ?

    • @TheNaturalNailGuru
      @TheNaturalNailGuru  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      DND uses numbers to label their polish so their basecoat top coat and their colors all have a number on it. They have different types of base and topcoat’s some that are a no wipe topcoat some that you have to wipe when it’s cured and then they have their base and topcoat from their older collection which is why your base and topcoat are a different number than the ones that I used. 😉

    I can’t use a base coat as both or the other way around

    • @ExplodingElephants66
      @ExplodingElephants66 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, the base coat is specifically formulated to adhere to the natural nail and to the gel color. A top coat wouldn’t act as that double stick tape like the base coat does. A base gel won’t give you the same shine and durability as a top coat would give you. I would make sure to have a both base and top coat gels. If you’re just beginning, dnd is great, or the makartt base and top from Amazon, both very affordable options and wear well.

      Kendra Buss The D&D DC is pretty much just a new collection they upgraded their bottles I don’t believe there’s much difference if any in the durability/ quality of the base and top. But totally worth checking out stay tuned I might go ahead and do a little review on that and see whether not there’s any difference in shine or wear 😉

      Once I got the DND base and noticed It had a sticky layer unlike DC collection but that was just once . I've been using DND colors for over a year now and I must say it's one of my favorite brands. And for the stains only one of my clients has that problem ( she is a hair stylist so I guess the heat and hair products she uses can affect the color )

      Aurela Gjekaj Hi!! A lot of the times it has to do with the preparation of the nail so you always want to make sure it’s a dry manicure and that you have the nail
      Plate really nicely buffed and free of any oils. .... however I’ve recently done a review on the OPI base and topcoat and although my review was thorough and extensive and had good results after using Opi base/top for over a month I’ve definitely noticed a couple of things that I’m not too happy about and I will be doing a follow up video on this very very soon so stay tuned because the information might help with the issue you’re having with OPI base and top. 😉

    Hi I’ve been trying to use the dnd gel polish but it never dries and when it does it all clumps to the middle. How do I fix this

    • @TheNaturalNailGuru
      @TheNaturalNailGuru  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I’ve definitely never experienced any issues using their polishes and I’ve been using them for a couple years now. The drying issue usually has to do with the light. DND polish is very pigmented so I can understand why a 9 W or a 12 W light won’t cure in the normal time you will need to do it 2/3 times (35w is ideal- there’s an awesome one for $50 I just did a review on it you can check it out and there’s a 10%. Disc code in the description! ).... and considering that you’re also experiencing clumping I’m thinking that you’re applying the coats a little too thick. the colors are very pigmented so you want to try to apply very thin coats... if it is too thick little bits will cure before others making it look lumpy. So nail doc says: thinner coats and if low wattage light let it run at least 2 times (double cure time) hope that help!! 😉

    This DND brand is sooo cheap compare to others and i havent had any problem with it, which is kind of strange really but i dont mind that. The only thing i have experienced is their dip and gel wont always match so i would test them on fake nails first so see how close they are before using them on clients. It SUCKS when they want to match and when you finish their hands and toes are 2 different color.

    • @TheNaturalNailGuru
      @TheNaturalNailGuru  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That happens a lot I have yet to find a brand that is 100% consistent with matching hands and feet that’s why every time I do swatches I make sure to point that out.
