    How can someone as knowledgeable and professional as you are only getting 200k+ subscribers? Whereas those self claimed MUAs are out there promoting heavy makeup, unrealistic daily routine and getting over a million. What a crazy world!

      Like Forrest Gump once said, "Stupid is as stupid does." I agree, so many shysters out there making a buck of good innocent people who are desperate to have their skin look much better. I stopped believing in those TV infomercial thieves many years ago when I was still in my teens.

    I must say you are the first dermatologist to approve clarisonic and physical exfoliation

    • @Golden5711
      @Golden5711 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ikr. Everyone everywhere tells me to stay away from physical scrubbing. I guess as long as you're being very gentle and not scrubbing on dry skin, it's fine.

    • @giginoelani5880
      @giginoelani5880 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Golden5711 Its just that most scrubs sold in stores have huge particles that are really harsh like st. ives scrub. A gentle scrub with the clarisonic (soft brushes), washcloth, or even a powder scrub (good molecules pineapple exfoliating powder) are a lot more gentle. I like to physically exfoliate 1-2 times a week, with gentle chemical exfoliation 4-5 times a week.

    You are so smart! Just knowing what laser works for what skin type is impressive. You know how to use the machines, when to change out the depth and strength of each laser for each person and their individual disease or skin condition. And there are so many of them! I appreciate you sharing your knowledge, especially since I'm over 50! Thank you.

    You are so right! I apply my Retin-a and serums over damp skin. I heard it’s a myth we should only apply our skin care over dry skin. I am entering my “second 30” and that’s working well! I also like to use rough gloves to apply my AM cleanser!!! 💝💝💝

    Hi Davin. I went to see Professor Chu as per your advice some months ago for dermapen but unfortunately after one session it caused holes that I didn't have to open up on the left side of my face so I aborted the treatment altogether. I have lived in London (originally from NZ) since 1996 and have finally realised that the reason most dermatologists have turned me down for laser treatment over the years is because most of the clinics over here in London DONOT have the variety or scale of lasers that you have in your Brisbane clinic so I will be paying you a visit towards the end of the year on my way home for a consultation. I am a registered intensive care nurse and have watched your laser videos in particular with great interest. I suffered from terrible acne at the age of 12 (I'm 47)and finally after nearly 35 years my acne has cleared but I have been left with combination acne scarring & resistant hyper pigmentation despite SPF!. I haven't been home to NZ for nearly 8 years so its time for a visit! Thanks. Ivy Harris...London

    • @fatimakhalid2291
      @fatimakhalid2291 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ivy , I really hope that you were able to get good treatment for scarring . I also continue to suffer from acne and I have scarring as well . I have had multiple treatments done but nothing has helped as much as a good skin care routine and knowledge of how to use various products .

    I don’t know if I know the difference in a bland moisturizer. Hmm. I have another question I hope it’s ok to ask. I’ve been meaning to ask you. I apply Eva naturals Retinol 2.5%, Eva naturals niacinamide 8.3% Serum and trusting vita c 20% with E and HA. I apply all these every night and sometimes morning. I have not had any issues. Yes it seems to be working. But now I’m seeing all over the internet that you can’t apply any of the three at the same time. I do apply moisture after about 30 minutes. Sometimes I hyperhydrate. Oh and I apply Retinol first after shower or washing my face. My face seems to soak it up. Thank you for helping me so much. I have incorporated most of your dry skin suggestions including olive oil in the bath.

    This may be an older video, but I just found it...man I really don't think half these people paid attention to what you were even saying....I have been on vit c and retin a for several years...I now have been making sure my face is damp when I use my vit C in the morning and my retin A at night. I exfoliate mildly every morning. Then a couple nights a week when I am skipping my retin a night I will do a deep exfoliating...I am tolerating it great and I am getting better results now..thanks so much for explaining...just wish more people would have listened to you...

    Hello again. Hope you are well. The tips are useful, especially for people who are already on a decent skincare regime; I must confess to being of the “if ain’t broke, don’t fix it” mentality and having been blessed with good, albeit very sensitive skin, am resistant to try anything too drastic; I manually exfoliate with my hands and occasionally a soft washcloth and alternate between Neostrata 10 and retinol 7 nights a week. Vitamin C after peptide serum in the morning. No plans to change as even that leaves the skin around my eyes, which I do moisturise, occasionally raw. And some mornings my eyes look puffy as a result. 😬

    • @drdavinlim
      @drdavinlim  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I think its a great routine you have, and you have maxed out... so keep it as is. Good to have someone share their thoughts, Cheers, Davin

      Estella Moo hello Estella, could you be more specific and give me your routine, I’m still trying to figure out when to use the products, I’ve started for 2 months now all the ABC’s and aha 10, but I’m really not sure I’m doing well 😢

    • @estellamoo3823
      @estellamoo3823 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don’t do anything “special”; just was my face with a gentle cleanser, apply a peptide serum (currently using the ordinary Matrixyl 10 w HA) and then Vit C (also the ordinary but I started on LRP, both brands I tolerate well), then sunscreen for day (SPF 30 minimum). At night the same but instead of Vit C I use EITHER Neostrata 10 (tolerate well but sometimes my skin tingles and itches for a couple of minutes) or Retinol (started off with LRP and now on the ordinary because it’s cheap and again, I tolerate it well enough with occasional redness)...Only rediscovered actives this past year because when I first tried Vit C close to 18 years ago, it was orangey, foul-smelling and cost $110 a 30ml bottle!!! Thankfully there are formulations for the sensitive-skin person nowadays. 😊

    • @karaleonor9638
      @karaleonor9638 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Estella Moo thank you so much. I have never used anything before these 2 months except a random oil and never thought about removing make up, yes I know I have neglected my skin in a very bad way, but it’s never too late right ?
      I have melasma due to my pregnancies and all of the sudden à fine lines network shows up lately. Last January I decided to take care of myself.
      I have way too much products that’s why I don’t know how and when to use them. But I’m thinking to reduce all that stuff :)
      So you don’t use retinoids (retin A)? I’m also using the ordinary products, they work very well on me especially the vitamin c (except on the neck I had a rash)
      Anyway thank you again I’ll try to find my way
      Happy Easter Estella!

    Now I’m worried I’m doing something wrong 🤨 I use my Clarisonic every night then a mild AHA serum, then a retinol serum (my doc won’t give me a script for real Vit A😡) then Vit C. I let them dry into my skin then apply a moisturiser. My skin looks really great; the best it’s looked in ages, but it’s slightly dry and that’s not like my skin. I have normal skin, slightly oily t-zone. Am I using too much of something or using them in the wrong order? Thank you very much for your tips - it’s your vlogs that are making me better at skin care. 💕

    Hi Dr. Lim...I have been binge watching your videos and I am in love...with them. I enjoy your simplistic approach to skin care. So, I really don't need 17 different products after all. I do have a question...what do you think of using estrogen with Retin-A? I recently switched dermatologists, and the girls (okay...ladies) were talking about estrogen to use with the Retin-A. Do you have any thoughts on this? What does it do? Do you think it is worth adding to a skincare regime? Thanks for your opinion and thoughts.

    Thanks for the video, another great one. I love your channel. Just one clarificaiton, you point vit B5 as niacinamide (In Cicaplast Baume). I think it's panhenol. From La Roche Posay, there is the Toleriane night cream that contains it.

    So let's say i want to use hyaluronic acid serum, vitamin c serum, some sort of peptides serum and a moisturizer for a night time routine, and throw in a sheet mask in there sometimes. What comes after what? And how much should i wait for the products to sink in? If i wait too long, doesn't the skin lose absorption power? Help!

    Hi Davin I find your videos very informative. I had started to buy some products to help exfoliate and smother my skin. Then you caught my attention that you could do a skin peel that would work much better. I am stuck in Melbourne but hopefully coming home to Brisbane soon. Do these peels hurt. How long before things generally improve. I had a friend who had something done a good 12 years ago and she was so miserable with the pain and itchy. She had to be sedated.. she looked great but I think it took a good month.
    Can you tell me where you practice or refer me to someone like yourself where I could make appt. I have made the decision that I should get someone who knows what they are doing rather than watching utube. I might make things worse for myself.
    Thank you so much.
    Cheers
    Maureen

    I usually get a VI peel about every 6 months. This is a chemical peel that is first applied in the Dr office and then followed up with 3 more applications at home. Of course I peel like a snake about the third day. You must apply moisturizer & sunblock of 50 while you are completing the peel. My brown spots are lighter and my skin looks great when finished, but am I damaging my skin doing this? You give great info!!

    Dr. Lim, I just adore your videos!! They are really quite helpful. I especially 💗 love that you give us the straight talk & not some marketing B.S. I'm using tretinoin .1% @ night for a couple years now. Recently began vitamin C in the a.m. I know you don't "recommend" or "endorse" any company, etc., but where should I look for Vitamin B3?? Should I ask my dermatologist??

    Hi Doc, I use Retrieve treinoin 0.05% nightly and I usually wait 15-20 minutes for my skin to dry before I apply it. Do you recommend that I apply this directly on hydrated skin, directly after cleansing?
    Also, is it worth incorporating a vitamin c and Tretinoin together?
    My skin is not sensitive at all. I would say it’s normal now that it’s used to Tretinoin. It can get dry in the winter time but not super dry..

Your videos are so great and informative and I highly appreciate you take time and effort to make them :) i just have a question - I use retinol cream at night (right now once a week to get my skin adjusted, but will increase usage in a month or so). Happy Sunday! Dr. Davin, by suggesting using actives right after the shower, you do not mean we use it on wet face, do you? I experimented this, but it stings and causes redness, I find it more tolerable if using moisturizer first on wet skin, let it dry then follow up with vitamin C? But is this means the actives haven't be used to its most? Thanks for the knowledge!
