As a SHINee fan since 2011, seeing Taemin's growth as an artist from Danger to Advice, you can clearly see how much he forged such a distinct artistic identity for himself. I remember Danger was (and still is imo) a groundbreaking kpop song, Taemin really did that in 2014. I hope that even though you didn"t like it, think of it more of the base & beginning step that made Taemin become who he is today and hopefully it will maybe grow on you!

This was Taemin's solo debut, and he himself stated in an interview that he didn't have any musical/production involvement yet at this time. Which is why it doesn't have the signature Taemin sound yet. But as a long time shawol, this debut was enough to rock our worlds then haha. We're so proud of our baby cheese's growth into a legendary artist that he is now ❤️💎

A masterpiece as always. You need to know that this song was not choised by Taemin and his voice quality improved a lot with the time. He was creating his stage personality and I took a lot of time to like this song.
I totally expected this reaction. I agree his voice didn’t really show in this one. I wish you could react to press your number right after this one to see the improvement he has done within less than 2 years. I find it interesting that you’re going backwards with his MVs. He is known to top his own work as time passes so it will be interesting if you can tell the difference even if going back in order
As a shawol since 2012, and watching Taemin's debut at the time, this MV and song were very Taemin like. With time and during these 7 years his sound was evolving, and that was all him discovering himself I think. If you started to listen to Taemin now and all of his newest songs, it's understandable you think this doesn't sound like him, but I do agree with you on not being able to listen to his voice in this track, and it's actually one of the reasons I didn't like it at first listen but by the third and forth was already on my playlist. This debut song reflects everything Taemin was and was capable of, his essence at the time (2014). Thank you for this reaction to Taeminni :)
Wow you've got guts and I love it. As a Taemin stan, I respect your opinion and your points as to why you didnt like it came across pretty well. His vocals indeed was heavily manipulated here unlike the newer released. This was his earlier attempts as a solo artist and he might have not been able to do his thing and just went with what the producer likes. Obviously, he now has control and influence to the songs he has been releasing and it showcases his intimate vocals and the way he wanted it.
Taemin didn't have "mechanical" help with getting his tone in this song. You should hear him in SHINee's live performance of "Why So Serious" and in "Advice", the only part where he said he had mechanical help was with the "get it, get it, get it" part.
Taemin has a more versatile voice than people think. Most who listen to him think he just has that "breathy" tone. Nothing could be further from the truth.
To actually hear him use his voice to play with the music, I suggest you listen to more of his B-sides like "Impressionable", "Strings", "Light", "Heaven", "Mystery Lover", etc.
This song's purpose was to introduce a "new" Taemin to Kpop. Rather than the cute, adorable, shy Taemin, SM wanted to present a more mature, "bad-boy" Taemin. While Taemin said he was nervous about shattering some of his fans idea of him, he was excited to break out of that former character.

I think the context of his debut is important.
Taemin was 21 when he made his solo debut. He had always had the image of the cute, diligent maknae and the purpose of the strong, dark concept of his debut was to peel off that image. No one was doing music or concepts like this in 2014 kpop and it was very ahead of its time.
It was a shocking revelation and introduction of Taemin as a soloist and artist. I hope you check out Ace as well. It's very different and was on the same album!
He wasn't really seen as much as a vocalist before. It was shocking that he was the 1st solist from SM that came from a group. Really we all thought it would be Jonghyun or Onew to get a solo first. It was a bit shocking to me to see Taemin sing so much. He only had a year prior started getting equal lines as the rest of SHINee, so to do a 180 and sing so much... there was a little doubt. I was so wrong. Taemin worked so hard to prove people wrong and that he has a consistent, steady, beautiful singing voice.
I remember being very surprised as well that it wasn’t Jonghyun. But once Taemin debuted he won me over immediately. I’m so glad that all of our boys have been able to showcase themselves over time.
@@sashi-mi yes and well I understand his vocals are hidden a bit by the audio effects in the song and not having long extended notes like other songs, but his bsides really showcase his voice. Even if this is a style Aaron doesn't like I think if Taemin's voice would've been showcased throughout this song then he may have liked it better, perhaps in the live version of the song he would like better. Like Ring Ding Dong mv in which everyone's main complaint is the autotune over SHINee's vocals... it's just criminal, but the live version is what was needed to make the song go from good to great!

This is Taemin’s debut solo song and he didn’t have that much freedom here. Even though I really appreciate this song as his solo beginnings, I prefer other songs over this one. Please, keep checking his work. It’s worth it 😊
For me I adore Danger, it’s such a fun track absolutely amazing for live performances (Taemin has done some spectacular stages with Danger including arrangements which combined it with SHINee’s Sherlock, which was amazing) Danger is clearly a musical tribute to MJ, whom Taemin idolized as a kid. It’s Taemin’s first ever solo title track and clearly he was still searching for his style. Danger album however was fully produced without his input so he didn’t have much say in what it’s gonna sound like. Even if you don’t like Danger I would strongly recommend Ace (another track from his first album). His vocals there are absolutely amazing and it’s a great, sexy song.

Taemin definitely evolved as an artist once he started his solo career, perhaps that’s why it seems so odd to see him in that light. This song was like a glimpse of all the potential Taemin had in him at the time (and that we can now enjoy and see). Plus, at least to me, his voice in that era still resembled a lot of SHINee, perhaps that’s why it sounds so different now when you compare it to his more recent music. Still, he’s a complete artist ❤️
This was back then when Taemin wasn’t seen as a vocalist yet and he just started to get more singing parts in SHINee songs because he used to have nearly no lines at all, he really worked extremely hard to get to where he is today.
This is not true taemin worked really hard before danger and got so many lines in shinee songs before it..

He was able to debate with mini album as the first soloist in SM
And got the recognition from the company's vocal trainer
@@khadijakhalaf6502 I didn’t say he didn’t work hard before I am talking about his image with the common public, he started getting more lines around Sherlock era and in MOU era he already was given more difficult parts. His selection for the solo album also was completely without his knowledge he said how he was told to sing a certain song out of the blue and it was some type of test if it turned out good he got the solo album(iheartradio interview 2019). I know taemin always worked hard but I am mostly talking about what people perceived him as and he also improved with the years he was good in 2014 but he was still uncertain about his abilities which changed with the years you can tell as he improved more he also got more confident in his singing skills
I understand that maybe fans who have started listening Tae in this era or after Super M might feel this is not Taemin. In my opinion, this IS Taemin, all the eras that he has created so far are him in his unique and artistic way, he experimented and changed styles but his essence is still there. Danger is such an iconic song, It's a masterpiece. ACE album is one of its kind for me.

Total respect for your opinion. The thing I love about Taemin is that his disography is so diverse but every song is such a bop. So it really comes down to personal opinion. Most artists have one clear favourite but with Taemin fans, is actually pretty divided. Some are super passionate about Danger, some Move, some Want. I love it!
I respect this because Danger is the very first step of Taemin's solo work started.

Yes, tbh, I've always been afraid that he wouldn't like a Taemin song and that suddenly, he would stop reacting to his musics. But, Aaron is normally a Taemin fanboy, he wouldn't stop listening to his songs just because of one song that he didn't like. The other songs are masterpieces.

Remember Danger was his Debut Solo, and it was a song that has SM all over the place in how they wanted to introduce him to the public. The heavy makeup, the MJ vibes, all the little things he can pull off that make an impact. As Taemin grows and has more power of decision in his career, you will notice how his work grows too. Less of SM's influence and more of himself and his vision. I think you'll like more 'Ace' from the same Album. Its more a sultry song lol

It is one of the songs that I jam to the most. You have to see Taemin's live performances of this song. They are incredible.
The growth! This was 7 years ago, and he's worked on himself so much so as to be able to do what he feels like doing now. But it's still a banger, and definitely the song that brought me into kpop. (SHINee as a group, this song in particular.) I think his "switch point" was Sayonara Hitori/Goodbye. Just my opinion, but I felt there was a before and after with that song.
Also, I'm not sure if you've done a guide to Taemin? But that will explain why you feel the change in his vocal ability. TBH, Press Your Number and Drip Drop aren't that far from Danger in time, but those are hugely different.
I love "danger", but after being listening to Taemin's voice it's just.. that.... I wanna keep listening and enjoying his voice without all of that hard instruments, but still love danger. It shows the differents colors of Taemin's voice and how he has grown since "Danger" era.

From his debut album, I think you’d much prefer “Ace.” that one has an official Concept Video as well. It’s my personal favorite (though Danger being the debut title song has a special place in my heart) Please do check it out!
Aaron, don't be sad for not liking a song from Taemin. You are honest and that's what I appreciate the most about your videos. You know, Taemin is one of the best solo artists, but he's also very versatile.
Don't worry about the other MVs, I think you will like them all, although I still have doubts about "Ace", "Drip Drop" and "Day and Night", but you will definitely like all the others, especially " Under my skin "," Goodbye "," Famous ", "Think of you "etc. It''s really impossible to like every song from an artist. Let me precede by saying that I do like Danger but I do see your points! I think a little context was needed before going into this one, mostly about what a feat it was for Taemin to release the song as the first solo to debut from an active group (Kangta had debuted after HOT disbanded and Henry while Super Junior-M was "dormant" and not promoting in Korea) and how it was also a departure that was necessary for his image to change. It is clear his vocals have improved ever since but there are other songs in this album (Play Me and Ace) that display his vocals a lot more prominently and were clear indications of what he would be able to do in the future.
As for that older k-pop quality I think you'll be happy to find even Taemin has joked before that he doesn't like how Danger was mixed 😂
I do recommend that you watch some of his live performances of this song tbh, it is definitely a song that improves on a live stage and with audience interaction and the rearrangements that he's done over the years have been really fun.
This song was so groundbreaking for its time (and now because lez be honest who is doing it like Taem?), though as someone who is new to kpop, not surprised you can't get with it.

I love Danger for what it represented in Taemin's career. Going back now and listening to it with you, I totally agree that I don't hear Taemin here but this just speaks volumes to me of how his voice kept and keeps improving and how he has been able to define himself as an artist. As I understood he did not had much to say for his solo debut release. SM just told him what kind of image he would have as a solo artist. Afterwards Taemin took more and more into his hands how he want to be as a solo artist. Now Taemin is involved in everything when making a release: lyrics, sound, outfits and MV making. Regarding his solo debut album: I think his Ace and Play Me songs have more relatable sound to his latest releases. On the other hand, his all title tracks are quite different from each other and still somehow are That Taemin.
And is Aaron's honesty what I appreciated the most.

Same, I got shocked at first when he released Danger. He sounds so different, however, if you listen to it closely, you can tell its him. He starter by having such powerful debut song as solo artist. However, the rest of his songs in the ACE Album are so amazing, I believe danger will be appreciated as you keep listening to it. Also, as time goes by, though taemin releases a lot of songs already and yet he still never fails to amaze SHINee World with his concepts. 💎

aww...I hate to see the streak end but I can't blame you. Even as a hard stan, this, too, isn't one of my favorites. They've done some really good remixes of this song for some of his concerts tho, but overall..... yeah.. lol It's okay to not like all songs, I'm still very grateful for your honest reactions. I think there's probably 2 (maybe 3) factors why you don't recognize his voice. Firstly, the mixing even taemin has adressed this issue, for matter of fact sm had total control, in all the aspects, of Ace (album) meaning that was the only album where Taemin didn't put any significative creative input nor choose the songs. Secondly, Taemin was 21 and even if he debuted 6 years before with SHINee it wasn't until 2012 and specifically 2013 that he became a really active part of the singing line, he literally went from not singing almost nothing on his debut to progressively improving his technique and finally taking a important role in the department of singing same as the others members in SHINee, so Taemin's voice in Danger is a voice younger and more inexperienced, he still was searching for his color/style, but imo he always had a distinctive voice but definitely there's a difference between (2010-2014) and his style currently.
On other hand, Danger is definitely a difficult song is good but not super amazing so you can like it or not but nobody can't deny that is pretty iconic specially for a male debut solo in that era, the me of 12/13 years didn't like it neither lol, but now I'm amazed that Taemin did that at the age of 21 lol but anyways I recommend you listening the mini album there are really good songs like ace, play me and wicked. Or you could finish to react all his korean title tracks and watch drip drop (this is not a tt but you should watch it) and press your number.

I think you will like some of his later stuff more that you haven’t checked out yet and his Japanese stuff. To be honest you will probably prefer his his bsides too as you get more ballads or songs that show off his voice- shadow, holy water, heaven, clockwork- the list goes on and on.

This is actually the MV that introduced me into Taemin’s music and it instantly grabbed my attention. I really like this song but it’s okay that you don’t :) I mean there were many Taemin songs that I didn’t like on first, 2nd or even 3rd listen. But I found them becoming my favorites and wondering why I didn’t like them before 😂. I love all of his songs because of his vocals. And Taemin has many shades within his unique vocal tone.

This song was his first solo, and taemin along the way has grown as long as an artist. I believe SM wanted Taemin to break his maknae image thru his solo works. To be honest I was quite surprised when it was announced Taemin will be making a solo debut, i've always thought Jonghyun will be the first from SHINee because he's a much stable and better singer. Regardless dance wise, before Taemin had developed his own unique dancing style, popping and locking have been his strength, and this song especially displayed that (given his more latest songs emphasize on many aspects beyond that like his fluidity, smoothness)

Me being a shawol since 2011 I totally loved this song cuz it was plenty different and unexpected from taemin who was known as the baby cute maknae of shinee, so watching him doing a song like this made me realize that he was born to shine literally (and that u cant trust on the cute one member 💀 lmao)
It took him a looot of time and hard work really hard work to develop his voice, just by listening to shinee firsts albums u can notice how much different was taemin's voice, and he barely had lines on the title tracks (until sherlock i think). I'm the happiest when someone recognize his talent on singing cuz he grew a lot, went from singing 'noona neomu yeppeo' to 'best take my own advice'
I seen taemin perform this to a sold out crowd for super m in San Diego CA in 2019. The crowd went ape shit bananas. I couldn't even hear myself scream. What a concert it was but taemins danger was the icing on the cake. Thank you so much for this reaction.
I have a hard time with this one too. But keep in mind it was his first ever solo release, meaning he had to break from the Shinee image at the time... He has come a loooong way ever since
You really like Taemin's identity! Danger contains very little of his opinion. I'm proud that he made solo debut with Danger at 20 after have worked as SHINee for 6 years. Live performance is superb;)
I'm going to explain some context that the song has in case anyone is interested. Taemin is the maknae of SHINee and also debuted from the age of 14, that is why he is always (even today) still considered as the baby of the group, which was very marked years ago, so he had a rather childish image. Even when he had started to stop being a child.
