  • Sara interviews The Shiflett Brothers! Jarrod and Brandon Shiflett have been at the forefront of sculpting for a few decades now. Their sculptures can be found in video-game design firms, special effects houses, art departments and even in the personal collections of Peter Jackson, Robert Rodriguez, Sir Richard Taylor and now, the Frazetta's. Together they won many awards for their work and have accolades from some of the best-known artists and studios in the world. They run an incredible online sculpting forum, they’ve taught masterclasses and they even have their own book, “Clay Sculpting with The Shiflett Brothers” published by 3D Total Publishing.

Long time Frazetta fan, pretty much shaped my childhood dreams about art and drawing. The Chessmen of Mars inking blew my mind amongst many others after. I loved seeing his work on the covers of Eerie, and Creepy. It changed everything for me about how art and storytelling could be. I'm so happy the Frazetta Girls exist, to bring this incredible artist into this age and time. Keep up the great work! greatest of all time, bar none, then and now, Fra-Zettaaaaa!!!

it's funny because I was at that show in 1995 (I think it was 1995) when Frank was there. I have very few memories from the show but two of my most clear are seeing Frank signing and the line was very long. I didn't know his work as well back then and was like "hey that is that really famous artist" and I remember seeing the Shiflett brothers in I believe artist alley. I barely knew of them but I think I had seen or heard their name before. They had a pretty small table and some original sculptures on it. I actually talked to them for a few minutes and probably asked some dumb questions they got 500 times a day! hahaha Kinda crazy those are my main memories of that show.

Oh man, you guys have to do Conan The Destroyer! Conan on top of all the dudes attacking him while the sky ablaze in the background and him swinging his axe, just awesome!

Two things I would love to see. One would be a Death Dealer movie based on the original pulp novels. Second, I would love to see the Death Dealer crossing over into Howard's Hyborian universe where he can encounter the likes of Kull and even Conan. In the original Death Dealer books by James R. Silke. The badass wild nomad known as Gath of Baal was the original prisoner of the horned helmet, and the setting of those novels was in a time before the rise of Atlantis. In theory, the Death Dealer can work in Robert E Howard's world. Think about it, Conan and Death Dealer fighting hordes of demons and undead together would be very cool, and very profitable. Frezettas Estate and Howard's Estate really need to get together to make a deal in licensing out crossovers. Both parties will get more money and opportunities to tell great stories.
