Being a retired firefighter I worked with that equipment everyday,I have to say that is one great medical first aid kit. I'll be adding that particular kit to my rig-no brainer. Thanks for the review. cheers

I appreciate that the company is stocking the kit for you. Although you could realistically buy the same rip away pouch for about 18 bucks from amazon and stock it yourself via amazon and walmart for a fraction of the cost of what they are charging.
I picked up the same bag after watching your video the first time. Was out on the Mojave trail. Ended up hitting my head on the ceiling of the lava tube, had a pretty good cut. Was glad I had the bag. Was the first thing I bought when I purchased my new jeep 7 months ago

I always build my own FAKs based on my knowledge and training (EMT). But this is a pretty good kit to build from. I'd add some Lidocaine if you were planning on using that suture kit or risk having your patient kick your teeth in. I'd also ditch the RATS and replace it with 2-4 CAT tourniquets. If that NPA isn't adjustable, I'd add a few more sizes. And more Moleskin! haha A good dental kit would be a good thing to add for when you are out in the middle of nowhere. And some glucose gel is really important for diabetic emergencies. Great review!

I've been looking for a decent first aid kit to strap to my bag. 20 some years ago due to first aid training i was able to washout my wife's eyes after some cleaner got into it and I knew how to wrap up both eyes so that the piece of "stuff" that I didn't see in her eye didn't damage her while we got to the ER. Everyone should have basic first aid, and especially those off us into 4 wheeling, over landing, survivalist stuff. The person you save could be yourself, or a loved one, 20 years later i still keep my first aid certifications up to date
We go down Baja to spectate the 1000, and several yrs ago we were down around San Thomas and ran into a group of quad riders. One had a compound fracture at the rt wrist. No of his group had any type of FAK, and neither did I. Honestly I was embarrassed, and we did our best for him but never again! Back in the States ran across this video and bought that same kit. I just bought a Polariz RZR and the very first thing I added to that car was a FAK....never again.... Thanks!
Summer afternoon, westbound on I-15, east of Baker on a long downhill, was passed by a full minivan with teenage driver going 90 mph+, watched him a few miles ahead try to pass using the center median shoulder and lose control. Skidded sideways then rolled over several times, roof pillars did NOT collapse. Several drivers stopped, myself included. Turned out we had 2 M.D.s, an R.N., and an off-duty paramedic, they had things covered for medical aid. I supplied some consumables from our first aid kit; they all had better stocked ones but with 10 injured even well-supplied kits can run out, and also supplied water for everyone (we had 15 gal in back of jeep). Helicopter for 2 medevac cases arrived an hour later, another transported code 3 in ambulance a little afterwards, 2 pronounced dead at scene, others were less injured; 4 most serious had not been wearing seatbelts, at least one broken arm was caused by impact from unbelted passenger. My takeaways: drive safely, always wear seat belts (make sure passengers wear them too), keep a good first aid kit and know how to use it, secure all loose items.
What a frightening experience. Amazing that there were so many medical professionals and supplies right on the scene. Thank you for sharing your story, you never know when you will need to render first aid.
You know your stuff man! I am very impressed with this kit, including a tourniquet, npa, sodium chloride, smelling salts, quick clotting material is how all first aid kits should be set up. All those standard meds is a nice touch as well for the types of issues you're most likely to face. I am looking for a really complete first aid kit for my new Jeep and this looks to be legit
Such an awesome video. I cannot stress how important it is to be prepared. You never know when you will need a first aid kit. I lost count of how many times the first aid kit that I carry saved either my life and even a strangers life. As you said in your other video, that small first aid kit you can buy at Walmart or somewhere else is not sufficient enough if you need anything more than bandaid.
I always have a First aid kit when we go out, because you never know when you will need it. This video just up'd the way I get prepared. Had to have this so I felt more prepared for the more trauma events that happen when you ATV in the woods miles away from rescue help. Thanks for the video.
From FAK used Hibistat wipes on daughter-in-laws pit bull bite (4 puncture wounds on thumb) and gauze wrap. Later flushed with water and transported her to ER.
I love this kit I'm a community first responder and this kit would be good to go on my bike even though I've got a main first aid bag but this will be a brilliant bag to grab and run with
I have carried an IFAK in my briefcase for years now, I also have one in all my cars too. I also carry some bandaids, and little pouches of burn ointment. When you work around electronics at work and at the university lots of minor injuries happen. Fortunately the quick clot and tourniquet haven’t seen any use, in fact I’ve replaced a couple expired quick clot packs over the years. They do expire along with some of the other consumables, it is important to lay everything out every year and a. make sure it is still there and b. make sure it is in usable condition (eg sterile and not expired). As far as use goes: Repaired a colleague’s pants with some of the tape, treated many burns from soldering irons, many minor cuts, extracted many slivers and splinters with the tweezers.
Me and my pal were forging in our welding class and he slammed his shin with a hammer and split the skin open down to the bone so we Jerry-rigged a pressure dressing while taking him down to the nurses where they took it from there. My lil first aid kit came in handy
A SAM splint would be a nice addition for sure and I may throw one in there. I will say I've only had experience with a CAT tourniquet, but a RAT will get the job done if used properly.
I was riding enduros with a buddy near Austin, TX and he collided with a tree which resulted in a pretty deep puncture wound to his wrist that was bleeding a lot. I pulled out my kit and was ready to apply the Israeli bandage to it but fortunately the bleeding slowed down to a trickle on its own. I patched him up and we were able to finish out the weekend before he went to the dr to get some antibiotics. I think the Israeli bandage is the #1 most useful item to apply effective first aid for flesh wounds. It could easily be the difference in life or death in a serious injury on the trail.
Nice segment! Thanks for your work. I would probably add a SWAT-T Tourniquet along with the one the kit includes and maybe some combat gauze. Your Kit also has some other things I have not seen that would be handy.
Looks like a good kit! Is the fox seal vented? I would probably swap the fox seals for hyfin once they expire. I would throw the rat tourniquet in the trash and grab a cat or sof-t w. Is also toss the hemostatic agent in favor of hemostatic gauze. Great video, thanks for sharing
Solid kit, good price for the very comprehensive contents. About as good a small kit as one can purchase off the shelf. Personally, I would make two changes: Swap to a CAT tourniquet & add more gloves.
Great review. Thanks for demonstrating all the various components. Very helpful. I've found that there has yet to be a med kit that I don't want to tailor to my needs, but that little kit goes a long way towards getting me what I want in my vehicle.
I once was on a bike trail did a sharp turn and fell over the handlebars and took off all of the skin on my elbow , I am very happy that I had my first aid kit

I love the kit! Such good quality case and medical supplies! It is almost like 2 first aid kits in one with the mesh pouch with everyday medicine, ointments, and band aids and the main kit that has more advanced trauma supplies. I’m saving up to grab myself one.

Thank you for taking the time to make the video. Im not a fellow Jeeper but I can also use the first aid kit in other areas (extreme sports), it helps if one kinda knows what to use where... It will make things easier to buy a first aid kit (when one got an idea what to use where and what will suite my area f need).

We actually have one of these very kits in every triage room and at the greeters desk of my ER I work in. Also I’d advise u take the meds out if ur gonna full time store it in a vehicle like shown here extreme hot like summer will melt those capsules
Just bought the advanced one with the 4 extra 30 ml saline and a cat 7 tourniquet with a eleven 10 case will be throwing a few more things in there like neosporin , liquid skin and some other items will be probably removing the tablets and replacing with a nice labeled medicine container. The molle is gonna be super useful mounting this to a 5.11 backpack.
Great looking kit. I think a big mistake people make is they buy a med kit without learning how to use it. It's like they rely on the fact that they have a kit to keep them safe. Proper first aid training is a must for what we do.
100% agree. It's one thing to have the right kit, it's a whole other to know how to properly use it. Hopefully I can throw a little knowledge out there along the way.
I haven't had to do any first aid on the trail. And another request for a quick tip at some point on the hemostatic agent, when to use it. Like always, thanks for taking the time and effort to make the video and sharing it with all of us.
A clotting agent is good to use after direct pressure, elevation and a pressure dressing have failed to stop the bleeding. I will try talk about clotting agents in a future video.
chris e Hemostatic agents can also be used as a primary attempt to stop bleeding if the bleeding appears to be life threatening (spurting, pooling, soaking through clothes right away, etc.) Especially if it is in an area that a tourniquet would not work. One thing to remember though: don't think that you just pour the powder or stuff the gauze in the wound and its magic. You still need to apply 3-5 minutes of direct pressure in order for it to be effective.
Bleeding control instructions/reccomendations have been changed. Its no longer reccomended that direct pressure, then combined with elevation, then pressure dressing. Now, it is being taught that if the bleeding appears life-threatening in any way that a tourniquet be applied immediately and if it is not on an extremity then hemostatic should be used immediately. If does not appear to be life threatening right away, then direct pressure is first, then pack the wound with gauze and apply pressure, and if that doesn't work and blood soaks through the gauze then a tourniquet or hemostatic should be used. Elevation has been completely taken out because you should use both hands to apply direct pressure on a hard surface if possible, and not spend time, muscle, and energy on elevating.
Yknow im YEARS late to this video. But i keep a lot of stuff in my kit. The one thing id add is a cpr mask with an O2 inlet. Theres such much in here in going to add to my kit. Thank you for this video!!!!
Returning to my comment for my ignorance. There is a cpr shield, but the one i meant is the full bubbled one you just put on with an elastic and it sits on like that.
Great video, a lot of good stuff in that bag, Last fall we were on the Oregon Coast, taking photographs, and 2 young boys got hit by a huge wave, knocked them down into the rocks, cut them up pretty good, we got the First Aid kit from the Jeep and fixed them up.

Brad, thanks for all the videos. Great stuff. I don't know if MyMedic has changed this kit since your video or not, but what you seem to be describing in this video is the MyFAK-Advanced. JFYI, your Amazon store shows the MyFAK-Basic, which does not have some of the items.
I got this kit to take to the range, shooting competitions and when hunting. Never know when some idiot will shoot themselves or someone else. Plus, it's just a good thing to have in general. I have mine on my headrest in my car and you can't predict when you might drive up to a bad car accident or something. I did add a chest decompression needle bc the adhesive type seals don't always work or can get clogged by clotted blood. In that situation I would just seal the vent on the hyfin or fox seal and use the chest decompression needle.
This looks like a decent first aid kit. My only concern is the way they are packed. The compartments and little zip bags are packed so full and tight it is next to impossible to repack them, and additionally there is no room to add any additional items and that is inevitable. Where can we get replacements for these items after we use them or they expire? I wish you would have made the video longer, showing how difficult it is to repack this kit. As I said this looks like a good kit but it's crammed too tight; not just this kit but most available first aid kits. FWIW I was not impressed with the customer service from this company. I emailed them with questions and never received a response. I did enjoy the video, thank you.

I had to use one at school a someone in my class gashed there leg open so I ran and grabbed my fist aid kit (the same one you have) grabbed a 5x9 abd pad and wrapped the tourniquet around the gauze and put him in my teachers rolling chair and wheeled him down to the nurse and I of course used gloves and cleans around the wound a bit then when I got back into my classroom to grab some of my stuff cuz they were sending me home my whole class gave me highfives (they sent me home because I got blood on me I drove my self to the ER though because the blood got pretty close to my face)
No need for a tourniquet with a wound like that, you can do more harm than good. Tourniquets are for bleeding from limbs that is squirting out, or is uncontrollable. The possibility of bleeding out is a concearn, or an arterial bleed, gun shot wounds, severed/partially severed limbs, etc., are a few examples.
got a dog bite once and had a first aid kit in my wrangler that was some good use. not as nice and the kit you just showed us, but it was definitely worth having. might be worth the upgrade and I hope I never have to use it!

Thank you Brad for your quality videos. In Jan I went into full cardiac arrest three times, a defibrillator, and CPR was used each time to bring me back. Now I have an ICD implant in my chest, while waiting for surgery to correct this problem (Lord willing). Since my experience I have decided to improve my first aid kit in my Jeep (JK), but also with a respirator mask for CPR on others (or for others to use on me if needed again). I would also like to buy an external defibrillator like the paramedics carry. Is there formal training for those? FYI I am a retired police officer here in So Calif, and I've seen them used many times, as well as the sucking chest wounds. A side note: Re an advertisement that’s streaming before this video. I sure hope that never happens to any of my videos - YIKES. But the only time I get an add, but is when I use music from iTunes.

I have the one way valve face shield for CPR in mine now after previously having to assist with cpr on someone and met their stomach contents...unpleasant! Chaplain Bill They make the automated defibrillators that go to like schools and offices that require no training you just put the pad on the person they retail for about 500 to 1000
It really looks like a nice kit, but it has some cons as well. It has a wide variety of things that even a professional likes to have around - for example the assortment of wipes that comes with it is awesome. I honestly was hoping for solid gear that has proven to work and most of the time such things are used and it seems to be well thought through. The RATS has no scientific evidence to support it in any way though, so I‘d really go for a CoTCCC recommended tourniquet, like a CAT or a SOFTT-W. It just has be shown multiple times that the RATS is ineffective a lot of times, especially when applied to legs. It‘s sad that the kit doesn‘t have an other tourniquet in it. I don‘t understand why they use very effective, evidence based stuff like an Israeli Bandage and Fox Seals but a RATS as their go-to tourniquet...

IMHO something that is missing from all of these kits is some means for immobilizing the c-spine. I have no idea what the stats are but there is obviously plenty of potential mechanism for a c-spine injury when 4-wheeling. I'm sure that space constraints play a large role, but I would think that some company could devise something serviceable, even if it was partially inflatable.
That's an admittedly impressive kit but it includes items that would be out of scope for someone that did even 2 days of first aid training. I've done a 10 day first aid training course and I wouldn't have need for a scalpel and wouldn't try to suture a wound. On the other hand, it has very little PPE (the gloves in this case) and they're buried. There's also surprisingly little gauze and tape. The tourniquet is VERY dubious. Anyone with proper training to this level would dramatically rebuild this kit.

Purchased this first aid kit from your Amazon store solely based on the great video and layout/items. The bag is slightly different than shown, no dual zipper. And there are a lot of items missing from the what your video shows. Have they changed the contents to your knowledge?
I recon every first aid kit should have a asthma puffer in it. They are only about $6 and it could save someones life, especially with all the dusty trails you guys do someone could be unaware they have asthma and have an asthma attack. :)

A wilderness course are full of good information. My wilderness training was in the military, so to be honest I'm not familiar with any civilian courses.... I'll look into it.

Bought 2 of these kits - 1 advanced version for the Jeep and 1 basic version for home. Something you must have and hope you never have to use.

Looks like a good kit! Is the fox seal vented? I would probably swap the fox seals for hyfin once they expire. I would throw the rat tourniquet in the trash and grab a cat or sof-t w. Is also toss the hemostatic agent in favor of hemostatic gauze. Great video, thanks for sharing
Solid kit, good price for the very comprehensive contents. About as good a small kit as one can purchase off the shelf.
Personally, I would make two changes: Swap to a CAT tourniquet & add more gloves.

I once was on a bike trail did a sharp turn and fell over the handlebars and took off all of the skin on my elbow , I am very happy that I had my first aid kit

I love the kit! Such good quality case and medical supplies! It is almost like 2 first aid kits in one with the mesh pouch with everyday medicine, ointments, and band aids and the main kit that has more advanced trauma supplies. I’m saving up to grab myself one.

Thank you for taking the time to make the video. Im not a fellow Jeeper but I can also use the first aid kit in other areas (extreme sports), it helps if one kinda knows what to use where... It will make things easier to buy a first aid kit (when one got an idea what to use where and what will suite my area f need).
Absolutely, there are many situations when having a first aid kit and some basic skills can be very valuable.
Can you maybe see if you can make more videos on how to use some of the first aid kit content? I guess it will not help you have one and don't know how to apply dressings and so; I already watched your first video.
We actually have one of these very kits in every triage room and at the greeters desk of my ER I work in. Also I’d advise u take the meds out if ur gonna full time store it in a vehicle like shown here extreme hot like summer will melt those capsules
Just bought the advanced one with the 4 extra 30 ml saline and a cat 7 tourniquet with a eleven 10 case will be throwing a few more things in there like neosporin , liquid skin and some other items will be probably removing the tablets and replacing with a nice labeled medicine container. The molle is gonna be super useful mounting this to a 5.11 backpack.

Great looking kit. I think a big mistake people make is they buy a med kit without learning how to use it. It's like they rely on the fact that they have a kit to keep them safe. Proper first aid training is a must for what we do.
100% agree. It's one thing to have the right kit, it's a whole other to know how to properly use it. Hopefully I can throw a little knowledge out there along the way.

A clotting agent is good to use after direct pressure, elevation and a pressure dressing have failed to stop the bleeding. I will try talk about clotting agents in a future video.

chris e Hemostatic agents can also be used as a primary attempt to stop bleeding if the bleeding appears to be life threatening (spurting, pooling, soaking through clothes right away, etc.) Especially if it is in an area that a tourniquet would not work. One thing to remember though: don't think that you just pour the powder or stuff the gauze in the wound and its magic. You still need to apply 3-5 minutes of direct pressure in order for it to be effective.
Bleeding control instructions/reccomendations have been changed. Its no longer reccomended that direct pressure, then combined with elevation, then pressure dressing. Now, it is being taught that if the bleeding appears life-threatening in any way that a tourniquet be applied immediately and if it is not on an extremity then hemostatic should be used immediately. If does not appear to be life threatening right away, then direct pressure is first, then pack the wound with gauze and apply pressure, and if that doesn't work and blood soaks through the gauze then a tourniquet or hemostatic should be used. Elevation has been completely taken out because you should use both hands to apply direct pressure on a hard surface if possible, and not spend time, muscle, and energy on elevating.

Yknow im YEARS late to this video. But i keep a lot of stuff in my kit. The one thing id add is a cpr mask with an O2 inlet. Theres such much in here in going to add to my kit. Thank you for this video!!!!
Returning to my comment for my ignorance. There is a cpr shield, but the one i meant is the full bubbled one you just put on with an elastic and it sits on like that.

Great video, a lot of good stuff in that bag, Last fall we were on the Oregon Coast, taking photographs, and 2 young boys got hit by a huge wave, knocked them down into the rocks, cut them up pretty good, we got the First Aid kit from the Jeep and fixed them up.

Brad, thanks for all the videos. Great stuff. I don't know if MyMedic has changed this kit since your video or not, but what you seem to be describing in this video is the MyFAK-Advanced. JFYI, your Amazon store shows the MyFAK-Basic, which does not have some of the items.
I got this kit to take to the range, shooting competitions and when hunting. Never know when some idiot will shoot themselves or someone else. Plus, it's just a good thing to have in general. I have mine on my headrest in my car and you can't predict when you might drive up to a bad car accident or something. I did add a chest decompression needle bc the adhesive type seals don't always work or can get clogged by clotted blood. In that situation I would just seal the vent on the hyfin or fox seal and use the chest decompression needle.

This looks like a decent first aid kit. My only concern is the way they are packed. The compartments and little zip bags are packed so full and tight it is next to impossible to repack them, and additionally there is no room to add any additional items and that is inevitable. Where can we get replacements for these items after we use them or they expire? I wish you would have made the video longer, showing how difficult it is to repack this kit. As I said this looks like a good kit but it's crammed too tight; not just this kit but most available first aid kits. FWIW I was not impressed with the customer service from this company. I emailed them with questions and never received a response. I did enjoy the video, thank you.

I had to use one at school a someone in my class gashed there leg open so I ran and grabbed my fist aid kit (the same one you have) grabbed a 5x9 abd pad and wrapped the tourniquet around the gauze and put him in my teachers rolling chair and wheeled him down to the nurse and I of course used gloves and cleans around the wound a bit then when I got back into my classroom to grab some of my stuff cuz they were sending me home my whole class gave me highfives (they sent me home because I got blood on me I drove my self to the ER though because the blood got pretty close to my face)
No need for a tourniquet with a wound like that, you can do more harm than good. Tourniquets are for bleeding from limbs that is squirting out, or is uncontrollable. The possibility of bleeding out is a concearn, or an arterial bleed, gun shot wounds, severed/partially severed limbs, etc., are a few examples.
got a dog bite once and had a first aid kit in my wrangler that was some good use. not as nice and the kit you just showed us, but it was definitely worth having. might be worth the upgrade and I hope I never have to use it!
Dog bits are the worst! We all hope we never have to break into our kits, but having them for when the situation arrises can be priceless.

Gloves should be a light color. So you can see if they have blood in them. Mouth to mouth is no longer recommended. Just chest compressions.
Thank you Brad for your quality videos. In Jan I went into full cardiac arrest three times, a defibrillator, and CPR was used each time to bring me back. Now I have an ICD implant in my chest, while waiting for surgery to correct this problem (Lord willing). Since my experience I have decided to improve my first aid kit in my Jeep (JK), but also with a respirator mask for CPR on others (or for others to use on me if needed again). I would also like to buy an external defibrillator like the paramedics carry. Is there formal training for those? FYI I am a retired police officer here in So Calif, and I've seen them used many times, as well as the sucking chest wounds.
A side note: Re an advertisement that’s streaming before this video. I sure hope that never happens to any of my videos - YIKES. But the only time I get an add, but is when I use music from iTunes.

That's a pretty comprehensive kit there Brad, thanks for sharing. I have the one way valve face shield for CPR in mine now after previously having to assist with cpr on someone and met their stomach contents...unpleasant! Did you undertake the videos on the suturing and tourniquet application? Be interested to see those. Thanks :)
Chaplain Bill They make the automated defibrillators that go to like schools and offices that require no training you just put the pad on the person they retail for about 500 to 1000
It really looks like a nice kit, but it has some cons as well.
It has a wide variety of things that even a professional likes to have around - for example the assortment of wipes that comes with it is awesome.
I honestly was hoping for solid gear that has proven to work and most of the time such things are used and it seems to be well thought through.
The RATS has no scientific evidence to support it in any way though, so I‘d really go for a CoTCCC recommended tourniquet, like a CAT or a SOFTT-W.
It just has be shown multiple times that the RATS is ineffective a lot of times, especially when applied to legs.
It‘s sad that the kit doesn‘t have an other tourniquet in it.
I don‘t understand why they use very effective, evidence based stuff like an Israeli Bandage and Fox Seals but a RATS as their go-to tourniquet...

Best kit I've ever seen
IMHO something that is missing from all of these kits is some means for immobilizing the c-spine. I have no idea what the stats are but there is obviously plenty of potential mechanism for a c-spine injury when 4-wheeling. I'm sure that space constraints play a large role, but I would think that some company could devise something serviceable, even if it was partially inflatable.

That's an admittedly impressive kit but it includes items that would be out of scope for someone that did even 2 days of first aid training. I've done a 10 day first aid training course and I wouldn't have need for a scalpel and wouldn't try to suture a wound. On the other hand, it has very little PPE (the gloves in this case) and they're buried. There's also surprisingly little gauze and tape. The tourniquet is VERY dubious. Anyone with proper training to this level would dramatically rebuild this kit.
This video is now 3 years old. Did all of these products have different expiration dates? Does it come with a list?

Purchased this first aid kit from your Amazon store solely based on the great video and layout/items. The bag is slightly different than shown, no dual zipper. And there are a lot of items missing from the what your video shows. Have they changed the contents to your knowledge?

I recon every first aid kit should have a asthma puffer in it. They are only about $6 and it could save someones life, especially with all the dusty trails you guys do someone could be unaware they have asthma and have an asthma attack. :)

A wilderness course are full of good information. My wilderness training was in the military, so to be honest I'm not familiar with any civilian courses.... I'll look into it.
wildlead.com/ has courses here in San Diego, I have not taken their course personally but I plan on taking their wilderness EMT course to upgrade my current certification. I have been told great things about their courses.
