No words can say how great she is. I reckon she should turn the Christmas lights on in Kettering this year. Set to it Mark and get that campaign going.
Looked splashy! When I went along 6 years ago that wobbly bridge was the most treacherous thing ever, as it had frozen overnight and just staying upright was almost impossible.
Andrew, I’m sure you’ll know The Two Running Brooms parkrun videos. I watched their Barnsley video on 11/02/2023 and a chap early on in the vid before the run said a fun fact was that a fellow parkrunner Ian Neville would be running his 500th Barnsley parkrun the following week. That’s a lot of laps of Locke Park !
Yes there is someone who has done more events at one parkrun but the difference is he hasn’t done every Barnsley parkrun. He didn’t start until around event #5 and hs missed some. Val has done every Kettering parkrun from Event #1 to #251
Very good video with loads of great information. Fantastic to see the legend that is Val Nix. As well as the 251 run she has done, she also ran the initial test run there. She eats, lives, sleeps parkrun and she is gutted if Kettering is canceled for any reason. Although she normally gets a lift to one of the other local parkruns.
I’ve just checked an my time was 21:27. The only things that come to mind is the uphill section didn’t seem too bad or too long. It started gentle and then just a short section that seemed a little steeper. It was wet through when I was there and trail shoes were definitely needed. But if the weather is dry I would wear road shoes. The downhill section to the lake again could be skippy when wet. And maybe save a little on the flat before you go up the hill. Let me know how you get on.
@@runparkrunwithme The Park 🏞️ Run 😁💪 I run once a week that's the only time I do any running 🎽 and train weights during the week with some cardio on the exercise bike 🚲, Thanks for the heads up on this !! Will let you know next weekend much appreciated 👍 off to Cleethorpes my next park 🏞️ run I saw you're video so I know what to expect round that lake 3 times lol 🤣😆 wish me luck 🤞
To say Val is a local legend is an understatement.
Absolutely a local legend.

Through the puddles not round them, well done Andrew 😄👍
I love running through a puddle. Always used to do it on cross country at school.

Wet and muddy puddles when I was there.
The bridge felt strange to run across.

I'm pretty sure Val is originally from Barnsley.
Yes she is. She used to live pretty close to where I now live.
Thanks for saving me some time…I was going to check Kettering out for myself but don’t need to now I’ve seen this
Thank you
