Thank you so much for this pattern! I’m going to start it today to make an afghan. . I don’t know why this should be so striking to me, but it amazes me that you could have posted this five years ago, and I find it today and start an afghan.
Thank you so much for the crochet pattern of this blanket. I knitted this about 40 yrs ago in high school for a creative stitchery class. Never knitted after that but instead I started crocheting. Never did I image I would still be doing this. I have never forgotten the name of this pattern so when I saw you posted it for crochet I scared my kids by screaming. I have made it several times now as gifts and working on another now. Thank you so much for bringing it to me and for being the best teacher on TH-cam.
Hi ! I started with a single crochet foundation stitch in multiples of 17 instead of chaining. Fixed curling problem and have stability. Thank you for this pattern and your time.
❤️ your videos as I learn my being shown how to do crochet rather than being told or reading patterns. My portfolio has grown through your videos and your simplistic way of teaching each and every stitch and warning of mistakes that may be made. Love your soothing voice too, keep up the good work. Barbara from Northern Ireland 💚
When I got married in 1985, one of my great aunt's crocheted a blanket in this pattern as a wedding gift. My husband and I loved it, used it and wore it out! I've been searching for this pattern. I'm thrilled to be able to crochet a replacement afghan! My sample/learning project will be a short, skinny scarf. Then a throw about the size of the wedding gift. My son gave me some yarn and I wasn't a fan of one part of the colorway. I'd ripped that project 3 times! Then I saw your video on viral granny afghan. That project is now about 36" and the one section of color I wasn't thrilled with in the previous 3 attempts is okay in the viral granny!
Excellent tutorial!!! You provide great detail, stopping at intervals to show how stitch sequence looks and you use yarn colors in your demonstration that makes it easy to see stitch details. I plan to try this pattern on my next scarf project. Thank you!
Once again you came up with a great pattern. I remember my grandmother knitting this to make dolls dresses! I’m not a keen knitter, but love following along while you demonstrate. The dark background helps, and of course your gentle voice makes it even better. Like crocheting with a friend. I’ve made so many of your shawls in different patterns, all my friends have had presents! Love it, love it. Thanks again.
I absolutely LOVE this! Knitted feather and fan is one of my go-to patterns for all sorts of things - baby blankets, afghans, scarves, tops, pillows. Now that I can do this in crochet instead, I have widened my portfolio even more. Thank you so much.
I taught myself to crochet with your tutorials. Before that I was strictly a knitter because it’s what my grandmas do. I love your personality and your simplified tutorials. And my cousin thanks you for this baby blanket I just made for her new baby girl!
That voice of yours is so soothing...I want to keep looking at your tutorials and fall asleep at the same time.....love all your tutorials Keep up the beautiful work u are doing .....❣❣❣❣❣❣❣❣❣
I've been looking for a feather and fan, that is easy to make. Once again, you have provided the answer. Thank you for this video. Merry Christmas and good blessings to you.
I'm a new crocheter and just have to say thank you! Your instruction is so clear and I've been able to make so many beautiful pieces with your help! I can't wait to start making this as an afghan for a number of different Christmas gifts!
Loved knitting feather fan . You have made my day as I only crochet these days. Followed pattern turned it into a jumper , as it was a trial with size , it fits friends grandaughter, loves it. So I now can adjust it to suit different sizes, thankyou so much,
This is fantastic!!! Thank you so much for the once again great tutorial!!!! You are as ever so perfect in your explanation and I was able to remember your tutorial from watching it one time and then do it on my own without watching it again. You are the greatest.
thankyou for your tutorial I have been having a bit of a problem but watching you helped me & the simplified pattern is nicer & easier to work thankyou thankyou 😊
Deborah Goins 👌👍💋👏😍😙😚😗❤💕💖💜💛💚💙💞❣ just a few. Your computer should have emoticon apps also. Mine does and it's... Wow! 4 or 5 years old. I use my smart phone more. But anyway we got him your message. 😉🤗
First off, thank you for doing this awesomely made video tutorial. When I go to a video and before I watch it, I look at the comments. If the viewers are asking questions and the uploader is not answering their questions I move on. So many people will upload a video tutorial and than never respond to the viewer who is having trouble figuring out a stitch or part of the pattern. But you, on the other hand, is magnificently thorough and you have gone through the comments and answered the questions. Secondly, I have been looking for a pattern for a shawl, or wrap for my son's grandmother so that she can have something to drape across her shoulders or lap and so I thought a wrap would be perfect for either shoulders or lap. And I wanted something that wasn't full of "holes" or something that wasn't heavy yet something that would be warm this winter. So this pattern was perfect and the yarn I am using is perfect for it too. I am not a fan of the cakes because they are too bulky and stiff like Red Heart...don't like it. So I am using Yarn Bee Dee-Lish Boutique in Plum Bunny. It is turning out superbly and with the size G hook it is light and soft and squishy yummy! Oh, yeah, another thing; when I started I used the sc foundation chain and it made the edges look very neat, so I suggest you do that in the future for a smoother and neater edge. Again, thank you so much! Happy crocheting.
i love you fiber spider! you have the best tutorial videos and have helped me move past the granny square without flipping out because i couldn't follow other videos. XOXO
LOVE it! Very similar to a baby blanket I made 45 years ago (ACK!!!) and want to make for a someday great grandchild...but I really don't enjoy knitting as much as crochet these days.. You solved my frustration. I have lovely coral yarn sitting here just waiting ...I was dreading the knitting...so guess what I am going be doing tonight! I love your designs and videos...your voice is so soothing too... It instills confidence in us. Love you, Fiber Spider!
Love, love, love this video tutorial.. I'm a left handed crochet and have been struggling to master this stitch, but having watched this I've picked it up, yippee :-) Thank you
how did you get yours to work being left handed. mine did not. That which should be fanned out is concave and that which should be concave is fanned out. If that makes any sense. It matters when you start the 3rd row. I don't have enough stitches to make it work out. If I flipped my work upside down....then it is like the video. But I am not crocheting on that end.
I started crocheting after I retired from my work and the lock down also started. At home without work crochet was my saviour with my little grand child. Both of them helped me through this pandemic. I didn’t get the exact yarn like you in Bangalore India. So I started on cotton 🧵 thread and I have gifted many small tablet mat to my neighbors and relatives. I ❤️ love your crochet 🧶 and all I did was from your tutorial only. God bless you🥰🙏
I am so grateful for your clear concise instructions. I have successfully completed a sample of this beautiful stitch and am brave enough to start to make a gift for a dear friend. I will start with your suggestion of the first row using a single crochet for stability. You are very good at this :)
Hi FiSpi! I love your videos and, thanks to you, recently discovered (and now am in love with) Caron Cakes yarn. They should totally sponsor you because I can’t imagine I am the only person who bought some Cakes due to your endorsement. Keep up the great work! A loyal yarnivore, Meghan
So I finally got my hands on some mandala yarn to make something for my mother. In the color of “spirit” She gets cold at night and wanted a shawl! Couldn’t decide on a pattern or stitch! Then I remembered this video!!! I wish I knew how to post a picture for when I am done! Thank you so much again! You’re such a wonderful teacher and I really appreciate you devoting your time to this
Hi l have tried this before and could not get it right then l watched you and now l understand, you explain so well and can see clearly what you do, l love all your work thanks for sharing your great talent, so relaxing to listen to, hugs,

Thank you so much. I love the knitted feather and fan for baby blankets but this is much faster as you said and it has the same smooth curves as the knitted pattern.
I made this pattern years ago with knitting. I decided to knit another one, but kept messing up the count. I found your crochet pattern and I'm going to crochet it. You are so right that crocheting is much faster than knitting. Although I love doing both, I do have a special fondness for crocheting.
Love it, love it l have been looking for a pattern to make my great granddaughter's a blanket and l found it.Thanks keep up the awesome work that you do.
I would like to do this pattern for the bottom of a dress, working in the round. I believe by omitting the plus three chains it should work. I will also try a blanket as well. Love your tutorials.
