strange that this is the first time I'm hearing about the bait fish issue. I don't know why all states especially like California isn't doing something about it. I live in California and often salmon fishing is restricted because of shortages. Could very well be they don't have enough food. I wonder if there's over fishing for bait fish and that's contributing to the poor salmon turnout.
No need to grab the tail or even the fish when releasing. Just turn the net inside out while fish is submerged in water and he’ll come right out. Poor wild salmon. No wonder I don’t have much wild salmon in my freezer, they die before they reach my fishing grounds
sending herring to Asia is like water in Northern Califonia to Souther california to raise and water Almons so they can sell them to Asia. bottom line is fish suffer and the smolts get sucked into the Pumps and the salmon and steelhead get sucked in as well so every State has it own Political issue when it comes to fish .seems it alll about Money and sending it to Asia
