You cannot fall in love with someone you have never met. Wake up!!
LOVE has NOTHING to do with anything. They wanted to get rich and fast
It's a psychological manipulation. Once they get into your mind and emotions you are done for.
There are such things as street smarts, and millions of Americans are missing them entirely.
It's insanity.
Dont shame someone for being lonely. Not all of us get to have someone
How many of these stories must people hear to stop falling for these scammers?
I have learnt over the course of my life that "idiots" often think they're always right, they know it all.., yup most are very close minded and unable to admit that they're wrong..
These people blindly follow this gambling game becoz they made the mistake of investing in it and couldn't accept a (small) loss 😌 If you're doing any kind of investments, it's basically the same thing, just without the romance mixing up 😂 These scammers built the trust by easily giving them small benefits at the beginning, then promising much larger benefits if they invest more and more.. VERY TYPICAL!
@@COMPUTER.SCIENCE.Well said but it is sad that they prey on lonely older people like this. When people are widowed for example, they get very lonely. I have talked to some of them and can tell that they crave that companionship so they become easy targets of these scammers. It is sad but true.
right? insanity!!!
I think it's the old " yeah but those people were stupid... I'm smart profession .(X) so it can't happen to me!) kinda deals...
@@COMPUTER.SCIENCE. u are right, i was being scam from a frd without the romance. Eventually cut lost, lost all my saving and pay few years of debt. Take cue from a sermon in church, i finally feel tat God speak to me to cut lost.
Handsome Swedish businessmen are not looking for 70 year old widows.
Exactly. Played a dangerous game. First I'm sorry for these people who got scammed by malignant narcissists and sociopathic men. A close family member also got scammed. I hope these women and men can also take some responsibility and tell themselves the truth that they are so often unwilling to admit which is that they each tried to buy the love they were hoping for with a man or woman that they don't believe they can attract without money. Love requires deep commitment, hard work, and buying it with money is not the way. They chose that way and they got played unfortunately. They can tell themselves all day that they didn't want to buy the love they thought was on offer. But giving someone ridiculous amounts of money to come and be with you is simply buying their affection. I understand helping them trying to get a visa to make it easier to see you, or picking them up at the airport, or paying for half their flight or trip, but offering them anything more than that is simply trying to attract love into your life with impressive sums of money. Nothing wrong with that if you have an excess amount of money to spare. These people saying they didn't try to buy their love should imagine if it were their children or best friend asking them to give them even a fraction of that money and they would never do that no matter what. This kind of love is shrouded in shame and secrecy. They would also never tell their close friends or children or even their therapist because they know deep down that it is not real love. Because real love doesn't need paying for except you're paying for your wedding or buying a home together with all the legal aspects covered and agreed in advance. But when it's someone you who deep down you know is too good to be true offers you romantic love, fantastical sex and pleasures, the perfect love life waking up not feeling alone and all the perks of someone deeply loving you then of course you will give them that money so that they can keep supplying you the external validation, need to be desired and keep the dream of mad love alive. These women are simply love addicted and need to go and do the deep work to create a healthy romantic relationship. They are simply like any other addict desperately trying to pay for their drug and the drug in this case is "mad love" because healthy love takes time and is slow to grow. Healthy love needs real love. You can't buy it. Sadly these are lonely men and women who worked all their life and saved so much money and didn't or don't want to put in he deep work to create authentic relationships and now in a desperate last ditch attempt use their life savings to try to buy magical love. The truth in this case and many others is some people think they can buy love and you just cannot buy real lasting love no matter how much money you think you have. That person will always find a higher bidder. Always. You have to do the deep work to attract authentic lasting love and keep real love. It doesn't need paying for with ridiculous sums of money. It doesn't need paying for at all.
she was 57
Exactly. These scammers are leveraging female hypergamy. Notice how they're not posing as janitors. Handsome older businessmen are not looking for any woman over the age of 30 to settle down with let alone constantly text/email about how beautiful they are....
Not looking for 57 either
I mean "handsome" is a bit of a stretch ... Dude was clearly balding all gray and looked in his 60's... and she was in her late 50's at face value it was a believable match up...
Especially in this kinda scams where they just use some 20's models pics..

"Online dating felt safer?" Followed by a look...
Safer than a bar. Why would this woman think going to a bar was even a consideration for a woman of her mother’s age and situation?
@@genxx2724 The big ruse here is that there are NO safe spaces, and one shouldn't assume that online is any safer.
@@genxx2724 I'm safer in my local bar because the owner is a woman! Lol! She tells me which people to avoid! It's introverts who never learn to read people who get scammed like this. And because they are introverted they don't know how to ask for help. But predators know to look for those who are isolated from the pack. That's who the pick on. My default is to be introverted but i soon learnt that it deprived me of social skills, the ability to ask for help and communicate effectively and how to spot a predator/perpetrator. It also robbed me of my self esteem. So now I spend half the week indoors and the other half outdoors and off the internet!
This does not just affect older people. I had a friend who fell for something like this years ago when he was young and felt like no one wanted to date him. The sad part is that the victim often can't see the problem even when everybody else can.
sad
When someone gives you attention and your used to getting so little your an easy target to manipulate especially when the guy/girl is good looking.
I'm so sorry.
Blame CRIMINALS. Do not for a second believe you are immune from being scammed. These people know exactly what they’re doing, and have no conscience.
Exactly. Thinking this can’t happen to you is your first mistake.
If an online romancer asks for money then it's a scam. How difficult is this to understand. It's common sense. There is an endless amount of guidelines and information out there. We've all seen the examples. People who fall for it are promoting it. It's irresponsible.
It's called grooming. There's a psychology behind it, and they know exactly what they're doing. Until we fully blame criminals instead of their victims, scams are only going to increase. Why? People are ashamed of being scammed and don't report it.
@@jimkarban6489 They target very vulnerable people.

It's a psychological manipulation... And unfortunately some people, sadists, narcissists, sociopaths, psychopaths are ridiculously good at it. I and one of my suitors are hypervigilant. I spot people's psychological red flags especially by what they say and he spots their immediate behaviours and surroundings. He's ex army and I'm neurodivergent. We've seen the worst in people. Him in war. Me in psychiatric services.

The police on tv say stay away from online dating.
If someone is working and its a good job, why are they asking you to send money?
If their bank account is frozen its because of bad activity or they froze it themselves.
I'm saying if you are lonely and grieving stay away from any kind of dating on a one to one basis. Organised events for singles are safer. I've been single 10 years and I have a lot of dating experience! I can spot a bad person or a bad situation a mile away! In the past U would just ignore my discomfort. I don't do that now.

How can these people, who lived so long in this world, fall for these dumb scams?
Blame yourself.
She was protected by her husband and kids. She either never learned to protect herself or she forgot. Her husband died and she moved away from her usual support system. She was vulnerable and isolated. That's what predators do. They look for someone vulnerable and isolated. Worst if you are an introvert. I have an introverted male friend and he was taken advantage of by a woman IN PERSON. Because I've done a lot of therapy myself, i eventually figure out that he let this woman take advantage because of his own childhood experiences, expectations and not wanting to be seen as the bad guy for cutting her off. She crushed him mentally and financially. I have my own struggles but I have a bit more self esteem as i never gave a boyfriend money but i still was scammed by my actual former husband. It's when you never learn where the boundaries are. I've been single for 10 years now. I have very strict boundaries especially when it comes to my emotions and finances but I will hang out and be honest with just about anyone. I just do not let them in my head, heart and bank account like that anymore.

Agreed. And this scam is decades old and has been talked about globally at large. So it’s a choice.
You also give your money willingly when you buy a refrigerator . But when you get an empty box delivered you'd call this fraud, wouldn't you. Romance scams are exactly that, a promise of love and marriage that was fake. It's fraud and rightly so acknowledged as such by law enforcement.

He was supposed to finally fly into Pittsburgh to spend thanksgiving with her; on the day she was supposed to pick him up from the airport he called one last time asking for more money and she refused; however, she still believed he would arrive so she drove to the airport and waited for his flight to come in. When he didn’t arrive she went to speak with someone from Delta airlines and they told her she was the third woman that day to ask for this guy.
Gotta pay to play! Got thrills and chills, now pony up. Next....🤑
Humans just keep sinking lower. Sad for this woman.
Humans have always been like this.
When people get older, their brains are not as sharp. Both of my parents put me on their bank accounts to ease my ability to access their money when they passed away. I regularly went online and monitored their financial activity, and I was able to see that my parents were making some unwise financial decisions. While both of my parents had been “smart” people, their brains were not the same as they got older.
Same with me. My mom put me on her accounts, added me as POA, trustee, etc so I could monitor and keep an eye out. At 83, she is not what she used to be. Always was wise, smart with money, good decision maker........but that's all changed. I run reports on her credit, I set up alerts, I monitor closely......it works. She likes to donate so I limit how much she can each month to ensure she doesn't run out of money before her death. All adult children of aging parents should have access to make sure all is healthy!
