You really gotta give props to the composer for this game. There are literally 39 tracks of egyptian themed music in the game and pretty much all of them are great. To be able to come up with 39 different varied songs in one musical theme is no small feat.
Andrew Shaw It's good but not genuine. It's sounds a bit arabic, but succeeds to convey exotic environments. It's how we think of egypt and orient today. Pre Arabic Egypt probably didn't have these arabic motifs. Same goes for Caesar3 music. It relies on hollywood Rome music construcs, that we are used to, not actual sources. We don't have confident sources for those ancient times music. Archaic music would probably be less entertaining too. This is fun.
This is arguably one of the most egyptial feeling like music. It gives you that feeling of ancient Egypt riding with the nile. Oh the glory of 3000 yrs of civilization is unmatched. NO other people's could boast.
Makes you wonder doesnt it... how a civilisation with roads, schools, doctors, beer etc die out.... The Egyptians werent the only ones to die out, the history includes Romans, Greeks, Mayans and even the Chinese way way way back. It seems that the only civilisation to have survived (yet not really longer here but they are) Was the British Empire.
What I'm trying to say is, lets take the roman invasion of Britain for an example. The Romans gave us, the British, roads, education, doctors. They even gave us sewer systems and sanitation, they even had flushing toilets and central heating!! but then the romans left and somehow it was to be well over 1000yrs before the next flushing toilet and even longer for central heating? Something went wrong here. Even sewer systems in big cities took the next few hundred years to be thought of... Something drastic must have happened to make every person in England forget this.
@@lunatelion07 While that is true, but on the engineering front (roads/buildings/sewers etc) that surely could've been studied and reverse engineered! They didnt crumble from day one after such powerful empire left? Yes elites knew but not every one of them disappeared when the Romans left Britain. Same for Egypt when their empire fell a thousand years earlier, and the Greeks! Its like no one bothered to reverse engineer things, both Romans and Egyptians had written record of things, surely SOMEONE who could read tried to teach others for the betterment of a nation but nope, nothing, nada - totally forgotton!!
@@CrazyInWeston I would just say it's probably hard to focus on engineering and study when you and your family are starving and held under the thumb of local warlord.
this is the most memorable install theme for me.. I don't remember any other game install theme beside this one, I installed this back in the day when I still using pentium 1 but it keep humming in my head until now.
I'm here because I love this music and the game, however I was watching one of the Netflix's Wyonna Earp episodes and this music (or extremely similar) played in the end credits of one of the episodes. I was like HEY this is Pharaoh music.
Did anyone else have this problem: "Failed to install 'Uninstall.exe'. You will not be able uninstall this game." And the only option was to continue? I didn't care because Pharaoh is the only game that I will always want to own.
I still play this game xD currently im trying to pass the campaign at 100% no cheats and in normal difficult so far so good =D Love the music, love the game :)
The time others take to learn a foreign language or an instrument, I took with building an step pyramide that lasted two days. Than my hard drive crushed down. It has completely worth it.
i just wish they updated the game to be compatible with the newer OS's i actually play it on W7 UE X64 and it works like a charm, (swedish though) these good old citybuilding games truly are Eternal, who cares about good graphics when the gameplay is so terrific that you almost feel like you really are governing your city in that era?.
damm why Sierra games dont make a game with all civilizations togeder and make somesort of online gameplay. It would have hudge success where ppl could build their own empires togeder with other ppl on a global map, this would be epic. Please Sierra make it happend, Pharaoh, caesar,Zeus and emperor are my all time favorite games and I would hapily empty my poket for you.
Because it wouldnt be fair. If you can build an empire with people, you have to find these ppl, and there would also be empires of ppl fighting against you. It really wouldnt be fun having armies thrown at you all the time in a map where you're struggling for food, was hard enough in some of the missions where such a thing happened.
And Japan as an expansion of Emperor, and India because this country has a lot to offer with its eternal and multicultural history, and the Russians (maybe starting from the 9th century with the Kingdom of Kiev and till the end of the Romanov)...
I remember my computer was so slow at that time and I had to listen to this song for a long time while the game was being installed
True bro haha
Same here! ❤️
Same, it was long time ago ;D
Same. It played so long that I set up a cassette player to record it from the speakers. ... Oh God I'm old!
2 people were kicked out of their home and through no fault of their own...
2021 still my childhood best music, and forever will be 😌
