They released this song which kind of had surfer dude vibes, but Ugly Kid Joe were pretty metal, and had a very good guitar player. They're massively underrated.
Love this song - it always gives me a huge smile! Cause it’s real fun and really funny! And besides that: mr crane can sing and has the surfer-i don’t care about anything-sexy look (face) 😉🤘
aah memories! Loved this song when it came out, screaming the lyrics while driving, still remembered them all these years later. Really underrated band
They are a really talented, underrated band. I feel like they could have been a lot bigger than they were. Just bad timing, music was started to change, again.
yeah its weird as they where really big for a summer! but hard rockers wanted something harder and other wanted more pop back then! they are still on my summer playlist
I feel like if they came out 5 years sooner or 5 years later they'd be far more successful. They did their thing too late for glam or even thrash and too early for college punk. +/-5 years in either direction would have made such a difference for this band.
This was a banger in high school lol Everyone feels like that at some point during break ups and it’s therapeutic. You could blast the song, scream along and get over it lol
Great Reaction Jay. I absolutely love this song. It was released just as I was divorcing my abusive ex-husband. Although I have to say I absolutely loved his wonderful mother. Other than that the lyrics fit.😀👍❤️✌️
I remember when this video was released. I felt like I was the third guy in the room with Beavis & Butt-Head watching this crazy gem from the 90s. Good times. Thanks for bringing this piece of my youth back again! Cheers!
This song was a huge hit and works for every situation, I had a noise guy that lived across the street and he was always in my business so I would put my radio in the window right towards his house and play this song full volume. This song said everything I wanted to say lol
One of the most brilliant bands out there. They did covers and originals and did a great retelling of Black Sabbath - NIB with the subtle lyrical changes to make it a love song. Other noteworthy tracks include Milkman's Son, Neighbor, Slower Than Nowhere, Busy Bee and the list just honestly keeps going into greatness.
One of the most underrated bands from back then. Great musicians and great vocals, I'd check out... Don't GoMilkman's Son Come Tomorrow Neighbor Cat's In the Cradle Panhandlin Prince I'm Alright Goddamn Devil
I love that you reacted to this song. Definitely unexpected. I was a young teen when this song came out. No one can deny the fact that this song is a banger. The music, the energy, the singing, everything is amazing. And, there are times when we just hate everything, especially that one person. Lol Love this song.
@@mummymary2218 Vivian Campbell threw a pick at us which meant back stage passes. But the after party was canceled due to incoming bad weather and the bands were leaving immediately. Not sure if we girls dodged a bullet or really missed out.
For me this song showcases talent coupled with a great sense of humor and provides a visceral tension release, and now with some nostalgia added. Reminds me of when MTV was still hot and influential and post hair metal and grunge were popular.
This song always reminds me of going to carnivals in the 90's. There was 100% chance you were going to hear this song on one of the rides. I can't even count the times I rode the Himalaya/Musik Express to this song.
To me one of the most underrated bands ever. They had everything(still have good moments today). Funny songs, sad songs, metal, rock, blues. They play right and vocals are tight. Perhaps, imo, the only band which is even more underrated is Catherine Wheel.
Great band to react to! Cat's in the cradle is a must to react to! Apparently the band got their inspiration for their band name from the band Pretty Boy Floyd, I suppose they found it amusing to reverse it lol
Hey Jayvee!Come on - Despite the negativity with the lyrics. This song is cracking, makes you sit up and listen. Very much a toe tapping head banger of a hit in my eyes. So underrated It’s so catchy 🎼🎼 Check out Spin Doctors - Two Princes. Another underrated track indeed
I soooo loved these guys back in the day (still do, and I'm nearly 60!). It's a shame they weren't more prominent, but jeeezus I loved them! And check out Cats In The Cradle too from them. I might go dig out their cassette actually!!!!
This whole album though! I loved these guys. I wish they would've stuck around longer & put out more music. They opened for Ozzy's No More Tours Tour. We missed our exit & got there late & missed seeing them. I was so bummed. I wanted to see them more than Ozzy!
Your laughter during this song made my night. I remember the first time I ever heard the song, the band opened for another band I went to see, and it was right before this song started getting airplay so we’d never heard it. The singer introduced it by saying “We dedicate this song to all of you” and we thought it would be a sweet song. Boy, were we all shocked! 😂 But we laughed a lot, too. They’re really good live, by the way, and I love that they have a great sense of humor with their music. Their first album is soooo good. Another fun one to check out if you want to is “Neighbor.” I’d love to see you react to that one!!! Oh, and just in case no one else has mentioned it, the band name is a play on Pretty Boy Floyd, who was a bank robber (and also the name of another band that was popular at the time!).
I actually bought this album (CD) back in the day. They have another really weird song on that first album, something about "A Psycho Loose At Disneyland." i Thanks for sharing, Jay.
"Yo my Man need a hug or sumthin" LMFAO! That was great! Thnx again man! This song is forever changed. Im always gonna think of that when I hear it from now on. lol
Actually support acts don't give encores at concerts... but I saw Def Leppard in 1993 and Ugly Kid Joe was the support band... and the hall went so wild after the show that they were allowed on stage again for two encores
I just watched your reaction to the Frankie Valli song. I guess that one is for when you first fall in love, and this one for right after the break up XD This is just pure fun!
You should also check out the lyric video to this song as the music video cuts one of the later verses, but the full verse adds so much more to the song haha, but excellent reaction!
Nice video! Love your reaction! Did you know that they cut a bit of the song for the videoclip? Before the last chorus, they cut some lyrics that talk about the sister... go check it on spotify. ;)
The story I heard was that they were going to open for a band named Pretty Boy Floyd, and for some reason the name Ugly Kid Joe made sense to name their band. But I don't know if that story is true.
Was waiting for you to get to this one..lol...great song, great video..they were a bit of a one hit wonder, never knew why..they seemed quite talented with a great front man..
I finally realized he's listing all the stuff he and his Ex enjoyed before their breakup. He just can't go to these places anymore because they are so tied to the good times they shared.
Great reaction video. To confirm, this song was meant to be a joke. During this time, most similar rock music was all about love and having fun, so they wanted to change it up. Essentially, becoming a parody band. Most of their songs are about being silly and joking around.
@@davidmcintyre8145 That makes perfect sense! They're touring as we speak so there's always new Iron Maiden shirts. Thank you, that didn't occur to me. 😊 (though, you sound kinda mad at Guns n' Roses)
Now this is a throwback.
And a brilliant throwback at that!!
Their new stuff is good
Their version of cats in the cradle in worth checking out too. 😃

I don’t think the song really had surfer dude vibes, tbh. I think that was more the video.

Why do they call this guy Ugly Kid Joe? It's like, he's not even that ugly.
Do you find him attractive, Beavis?
They do an excellent cover of "Cats in the Cradle"
I remember being at the clubs on Rock nite and waiting so patiently for this song to come on lol!🤘🏼❤️
This song got heavy rotation on the radio station I listened to frequently back when it was new. Always liked it!

Loved Goddam Devil!!! Still do
I was already a mom, with an office job, and I *loved* Goddamn Devil.
UKJ, they were definitely one of a kind. And I loved most everything they did.
Lol, a classic. Something about the way you reacted to this song makes me think you might enjoy, "Two princes," by the Spin Doctors.
What a treat to see this again. Saw them in concert with Def Leppard. There was a kazoo solo involved. Lots of fun and a great show.
That would have been some concert
