In this video from Jubilee Road I have part 2 of best DCC sound model at Jubilee Road. In part two we take a listen to the steam locomotives. Pick you favorite!!!
The GWR Mogul and King Richard 2nd are the winners rods down for me. You can't beat the sharp bark and shrill Swindon whistle of God's Wonderful Railway. Those two definitely outshine the stinky Class 37 Diseasel any day. The GWR Mogul and King Richard 2nd are music to my ears. Oliver Cromwell is too, but I don't love her as much. God's Wonderful Railway is number 1 in my book, the Mogul and King coming out on top. Then again, show me a GWR Manor hard at work, and I'll show you how much I truly love her.
that Great Western King really needs a better speaker (two good bass ones). The sound will only work with a speaker that has some bass, which would help the good sound file that the King has.
It’s a toss up between the Merchant Navy and the Britannia for me, while I don’t have a modern Brittania I do have the smaller 6MT Clan Stewart and wouldn’t mind sound fitting mine at some point as I do like the standard locomotives, the merchant navy though I do have one of the original condition ones in BR Green 35023 Holland Afrika Line, a good video overall Matt.
All too tinny and synthetic for me like sandpaper. Everything sound wise condensed/compressed. Ill stick to SLW/Accirascle diesel sounds for me. Nice video
Its not as easy to choose compared to the diesel locomotives as DCC sounds for steam don't seem to be as clear as the diesel engine sounds. Out of these ones though i thing the GWR King and Mogul are the ones that sound the best.
Sadly I find Steam always suffers badly in the DCC sound stakes the King was marginally better but at speed it suffered the same electronic echo chamber effect as all the others good whistle though. It’s a shame as the real locomotives sound wonderful but they’ll never get the same effect out of a tiny little speaker in an echo box.
My vote for the Dapol GWR Mogul. Nice train too! Beautiful!
The Merchant Navy Class 35024 was lovely as I do love Bulleid Pacifics
The Britannia gets my vote because of its clarity. John
Britannia for me cheers Al

The Dapol Manor stands head and shoulders above the other engine sounds for me.
Hard to call which one is best, i will go for the Mogul.
This will be an odd statement coming from a steam enthusiast, but the diesel sounded better overall. However, the Dapol Manor was #1 IMO
GWR king for me
