I loved the VE episode, where we get see Elizabeth and Margaret's younger days. It was also fantastic to see all three Elizabeth actresses share the screen for the first time.
This season of the Crown is one of the only shows on Earth where the real people are better looking than the actors, haha. What enthrals me is how on Earth were they able to find two young actresses that looked EXACTLY like Claire Foy and Vanessa Kirby. IT WAS UNCANNY.
I thought I was the only one who noticed that in the trailer when they showed their VE celebration I thought they had gotten those same two actors and just put them in a different timeline I had no idea that they got younger actors because they look so much alike
I absolutely loved the VE episode , the part where Margaret has the dream sequence of her sister and herself as young girls ..and saying goodbye to her made me sob..made me think of my own younger sister.. that's why the show was good.. we could relate to the human emotions and relationships
I think the one thing i liked the least about the last season is how in reduced the Queen to a sort of side character. Like in the earlier seasons she was the centre (the crown). Sure William and Diana were very popular but still a bit most screentime, a bit more her would have been preferred. that being said the last 10 or so minutes were wow. The three queens and the music score ❣
I guess the whole point is that the people move on, new people arrive, just the Crown remains. And it's pointing at the future of the crown and what it will bring.
see I understand that they had to accomodated. but like in the earlier seasons they emphasised her paramountcy over the rest of the royal family. I still think this was an improvement on the last season but a bit more of her perspective(what she thought of william etc) would have been nice.
No surprises but I feel like this season was well done given the circumstances of the past year. I wish there could be another season but since there won’t be one, this was a good way to exit by tying things together in a nice little bow. It fictionally filled in the blanks for things like Diana and Dodi in The Ritz, William and Charles after Diana’s death, William and Harry perspectives on their roles, William’s thoughts on comparisons to his mother, Philip’s role in the family and his way of being a good father to Charles by being a good grandfather to Charles sons, Margaret’s health shift, etc… and it all made sense.
There are a lot of hints in the show about the role Harry slipped into - like when he's flicking paper balls at Charles while he goes over official papers, it's a strong hint about the part he's cast as, as the disruptor of official royal duties. And the moment when the Queen talks to the two of them about Charles and Camilla, and the camera frames them both sitting on opposite sides of her - it's a pretty powerful foreshadowing of the break between them.
i like that they ended the series with her planning her funeral and reflecting on her life, otherwise i would have been mad that it didn’t keep going until the actual end of her reign. season 5 made me think the show fell off but they redeemed themselves with the second half of season 6. they recentered the queen. imelda staunton did great. a few moments were ridiculous though, like the nightmare about “king tony” when the queen wakes up in a panic reaching for her crown lmao i was like plsss 😭
I see the Crown followed on with it's hallowed tradition of casting people with broad London or Essex accents as Royals. It's always lovely to hear them speaking in their normal voices.

Lots to admire about this series but as a UK citizen, the way they handled Harry compared to Charles and William was a disgrace. They aged up Harry and made it out like he was unaffected by his mother's death when in fact public sympathy here was greater for him because he looked so young and vulnerable. He also had a rakish charm which was spun into something sinister by the angular-faced actor they cast and the weird evil faces they had him pull. Not to mention that unflattering haircut that he never wore in real life. A lot of the introspection and softness they granted to Charles and William in the series was actually what Harry displayed more often. He has Diana's warmth and affability, which came across time and time again in interviews, and it was completely erased. It's actually chilling how effectively they were able to rewrite history. Harry is at odds with his family and seemingly the show is now monarchist propaganda. I don't expect flawless depictions of that family but what made it compelling television was its even-handed approach in previous seasons. I even think the Diana storyline was moderately well handled and balanced. However, with the miscasting of charismatic Dominic West as Prince Charles, the complete erasure of Prince Andrew's sinister story and how they handled Harry, the creators definitely turned this into a PR vehicle for the monarchy. Charles and Camilla are NOT loved here. Everyone knows William has been stepping out on Kate with her friends since their "relationship" began, and since his coronation Charles has earned the nickname "King Charles the Cruel" in the UK. Nothing like how they were depicted in the show. I was very disappointed. It was a very good time for the show to end. I hope it's resurrected by less biased creators to bring it back down to earth in future.
I thought this was a smooth ending to the show and ending it with the marriage of Charles and Camilla made sense. Perhaps everything since then is too "close to home" to cover, particularly given that Harry is currently contracted to Netflix to produce content for them. The conversations about duty vs personal life plus why abdication is not a realistic option for the British monarch were interesting, given that many viewers will be asking those questions themselves. I thought the Carole Middleton and abdication plotlines were a stretch but I can see why they needed plot devices to add drama to the situation. There wasn't really a huge amount of Royal Family drama during that era, at least not on the scale of the 90s and beforehand. I hope people realise that that is speculation on the part of the show though. It's been a beautifully-produced programme and on the whole the ending struck the correct tone. Harry's hair though...😮
Calling Catherine "Kate" is not legal unless they states this is a nick name for her. Catherine has not been Kate since she married Prince William her Name is Catherine on the marriage license and also on all the other legal paper she sign. The name "Kate is Illegal, so it makes the movie irrelevant. I'm studing law and it plainly say you can't use a nick name on something like that if you do you has to say that was a nick name for her. The Royal family can sue on just that behalf.
I thought it was a little boring. The first seasons were fantastic. But the last two actresses playing the Queen were sad sacks to me. Fine actors, but didn’t have that twinkle for the part.
I hated the portrayal of the Middletons, rather than the meddling of Carole and all that, I'd rather have them be portrayed as the down to earth family unit that has obiviously had a positive impact on William and their kids. I also didn't like it that they portrayed William almost not making it to the Golden Jubilee. It was always pre determined which royals would be at what jubilee events. William wasn't at the luncheon, due to the fact he wasnt a full time working royal, and still at school, but the balcony was always a pre dertemined event he would attend. I can't critize the actor playing Harry, as his first acting job and playing a very hard role. I think the actor did a good job. As did the young William and Kate actors. I also hated the whole, will the Queen step down plot point. She would never even think to do so, and Charles knew that. To even depict the idea that Charles was hoping for the Queen to step down was just stupid. That being said, the 3 queens scene was perfect! I loved the final scene it was beautiful.

I get that on this channel you guys are very team Meghan, but my main takeaway from the last two seasons is that they really polished out Charles and Camilla - like so much that as if to ensure a support campaign for them, especially Camilla. I liked how in season 3 and 4 that was not the case. We saw both the good and the bad side of these two. And while in season 5 Charles does have his dickish moments, Camilla is suddenly a saint. I have nothing against the Camilla in real life, but seriously my main dissatisfaction is not with Kate being portrayed as too perfect or innocent but rather the current Queen being idolised unnecessarily. Anyway, while I enjoyed the finale, I did not quite like the last two seasons overall.
I found it DISGUSTING how they tried to smear Kate Middleton and her mother with ZERO evidence, did not show the Kate and Wlliam wedding, and stopped well before Harry's disastrous mariage.

Ive stopped watching after season 5 as it seems to have lost its biting edge, its nuance and complexity in behaviours. It changed and not for the better.
How conveniently they left out the fact that William had a “Black Face” party but seem to conveniently remember ever event Harry had in his life. The 🍑 kissing of both him, his father & that woman he married & Karen Kate killed the last season. Good riddance it’s over!
