    I found for the tethering issue 6:00 with my iphone12 pro that I had to go to Cellular Data Options under the Cellular Setting, then Voice & Data and switch to LTE, i.e., switch off any 5G options. After that all the same as in the video except the wifi symbol for me showed up as LTE, not 4G but seems to be the same thing. Now it works great!

    You are the first person to explain clearly and simply how the Polly can work out and about with a mobile phone! Thank you! Chord should pay you as this is one of the most important features and makes the Poly a worthwhile investment. Cheers

      You should wait until the app shows you are on hot spot mode as I showed on the video with the icon coming up before proceeding. I’m surprised Chord didn’t make this clear if they haven’t changed the manual or made further videos. Make sure it is charged. What type of phone and mobile provider?

      Did you watch my clip at 6:11 onwards as when you’ve gone into Gofigure and paired the poly to the phone , when you jog the hotspot you see it change from WiFi symbol to the 4g/5g etc. That means the phone is broadcasting its hotspot which is then recognisable in go figure which is telling poly to find it. When you go back into the go figure app you can find the personal hotspot network name and add the hotspot password that you have on your iPhone, found under the hotspot settings on the iPhone.

    • @13thnotehifireviews7

      Also I think the led lights need to be on the poly to show it has power . There are two lights one for power for the mojo2 and the other for the poly, both on the end of the poly where the clear plastic aerial window is. If your poly doesn’t have power you won’t be able to connect. The poly battery can run out and mojo2 doesn’t feed it it’s power supply. Mojo2 charges first then when at power it passes current through to the poly to charge it.

    Hey Simon,
    I'm planning to replace my single Mojo with this v2 and with a Poly.
    I'm just wondering... is it possible to download music data from TIDAL to an SD card?
    I'm not sure wireless streaming can give me better quality than an expensive cable between my iPhone and the Mojo2. Also, using another cable between devices is exhausting and inconvenient.
    But I'm sure, playing music directly from the Poly's SD card is better than a simple Mojo with a cable from my phone.
    So my only bottleneck before buying is, I'm not sure downloading TIDAL content to SD card is possible or not. Did you try that or do you know about that something?
    Thank you ;)

    I just received my mojo 2 w/ the poly yesterday. Took a while to figure out how use the poly? They need to make a video that goes over the steps in the manual for the poly. Also, the usb micro to usb chord they supply with the mojo 2 is way to short. If your not streaming wirelessly and you grab your phone to change the music, well your pulling the mojo2 with as well? Is there a specific usb micro to usb chord to buy if we want it a bit longer? How do you stream Amazon music etc using Wi-Fi to the mojo 2? Is there an app for iPhone that houses the major streaming services you can use? Lastly, the sound is terrific. I am an audiophile newbie and you can certainly make out sound differences, the better separation of instruments and clarity is astounding compared to just using the apple dongle, which is not bad by the way.

      Not sure what you mean on first questions. You stream via AirPlay to the poly from the iphone . You can use the streaming services apps themselves and set the iPhone to AirPlay and pick up the poly. AirPlay is obviously pretty much cd quality so do it that way rather than Bluetooth

      If you’ve got the poly you don’t really want to be connecting your mojo2 to your phone with a cable in my opinion, just use airplay. Good enough for most content at airplay cd quality. You can use any longer usb to micro usb cable I believe but I wouldn’t use that as you need to use an Apple camera adapter. There is a cable mentioned in the Darko blog post about the mojo2 which you can connect directly to iPhone ie lightning to usb-c , without the need for the camera adapter.

      @@13thnotehifireviews7 I’m trying to see this from a value proposition and for me personally, the Poly seems a bit of a stretch. Not having Roon or local flac files to listen to, just streaming, I feel it’s a bit of a downgrade using around my house. At the desk, I can hook it up to something like a Bluesound Node. Leaving the house, Poly makes even less sense. You’ll still need the phone to control it, even if your playing off the SD card because there’s no other interface. But if you already have the phone with you, hooking that up directly to the Mojo and playing Apple Music actually becomes much more convenient, less bulky, and less cumbersome. I hope their next version tackles this impracticality by adding a screen, Play / pause, and track forward / back buttons.

    Very helpful review thanks (though might end up expensive for me!).
    I hadn't realised the chord poly has an SD card slot. Do you know what the maximum supported SD card storage capacity is? (I have lots of 1411kbps lossless uncompressed music which takes up a lot of space).
    Does the poly support Apple music? (I'm using an iPhone, an android LG v60 and Astell and Kearn DAP all of which support Apple music).
    How does audio quality compare to using wired into the mojo 2? (Difficult to answer I know. I've got wireless Edifier spirit s3 headphones and Status Between ANC earbuds. Wired using Sennheiser ie600 iems and Hifiman edition xs headphones).

    Thanks again for the video. I have a follow up question. I also have an android phone and I would like to use the Chord Mojo 2 & Poly with that as well. With an Apple phone using the Chord mojo2 and poly, wireless streaming music by default is via Apple airplay 2. I know that airplay gets its information via Wi-Fi, but then bit rate is capped because of airplay transmission. My question is, if you use an android phone is streaming done entirely via wifi? I know that for you CD quality is sufficient but I always try to squeeze out as much bit rate as possible.

  • @dantealighieri4258
    @dantealighieri4258 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I have pretty much all the same conclusion and feelings about Poly - streaming to Poly is a step up from Mojo alone in terms of sound quality, and then another step when using SD card playback. One thing is I wish it had a USB port on the Poly, so I could plug it in and use Mojo as a USB DAC on my computer without having to open the MojoPoly case, separate them, and then connect Mojo. Poly kind of turns Mojo into a wireless-only product. Also I wish they would update the MPD version in the Poly firmware - there's newer versions available that allow the software playing back SD card files to read the album cover art. I haven't used M-Connect with it before, but might give it a try.

      How important is input quality to mojo? Ie can you notice poly micro usb input being superior to usb from laptop? And again better with SD play versus streaming? V new to this but learning

    • @dantealighieri4258
      @dantealighieri4258 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@cannibalholocaust3015 Yes that's how I hear it - when I use Audirvana with my computer and stream to Poly over the network, it sounds better to me than connecting to Mojo via a USB cable. Playing off the SD card also sounds a bit more detailed and 'accurate' than streaming to Poly over the network. So input quality does seem to matter. I haven't tried using any USB devices like Audioquest Jitterbug or iFi micro iUSB, which some people find improves the quality of USB playback. Another option is something like Allo Digione or another cheaper network device instead of Poly, but I haven't experimented with those either.

    Thanks for this helpful guide. I just received my Poly/Mojo 2 combo today and was trying to work out if it was possible to stream already downloaded music in the Tidal app to the Poly from an iphone without the need to stream (and hence use data) when out and about. The only way I could find to get this working was to put the Poly into hotspot mode and connect my phone to that network. I can then send the music to the Poly via Airplay without using mobile data (tested by turning mobile data turned off). This works really well, however, if you switch apps or lock the iphone's screen, the streaming stops immediately. Is there a better way of listening to downloaded music from a streaming service via the Poly without obviously using an SD card or resorting to connecting the Mojo directly to the phone?

    • @13thnotehifireviews7
      @13thnotehifireviews7  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks too. I use tidal plus iPhone 12 mini and poly / mojo 2 and no issues even with the auto lock feature of the iPhone ie screen goes off after pre determined time. If you switch apps that’s inherent in the iPhone - but locking screen may be you think it’s locking but you are going out of an area with data - no. My advice would be download the songs to sd card or stop internet surfing. Music is to be enjoyed without outside ‘noise’. No?
