This was by far one of the most entertaining interviews you've done. The stories were great, the vibe was perfect, and I felt he was almost always honest with his answers. I'm kinda iffy on how he felt about the compensation, whether or not he ever saw someone get killed, or if he really wasn't emotionally involved. But that in itself made the interview better for me because it left me wondering. Hell of an interview, my man. 👌🏾
He is gets the awarded for $500,000 & development justice gold medal standards to bring undercover agent as the FBI investigation against these guys from the mob. Well done!!!!

This dude has a welcome mat strapped to his ass for the FBI......I can't respect that. Or the fact that he lies about the emotional part. Fuck his movie and fuck his stupid book.
Admitting to being emtionally involved would make him weak and would also make him a target by the FBI themselves. I also agree he must have done some wacky shit with the group like perhaps an orgy or some other vile stuff. Because the mobsters were in such disbelief that he was an agent, even shouting in court that Brasco should be in jail.
I've watched this interview 3 times and each time I am more amazed, impressed and shocked. The Joe Pistone and Michael Franzese interview are fantastically insightful.
Michael Perez ?why the hatred of pistone?M."Franzese"-i dont know the correct spelling-said himself that even tho the power n money u mite gain from that life is naturally attractive,it is filthy and filled with ugly or desparate people.it isnt only their own that are killed, but those that are "associates"or less.mob mentality is a cop out.there r intelligent charismatic guys like Franzese that make it seem impressive but he himself has left despite his respect for his father.Franzese mentioned Brasco but i dont recall any grudge against him.both men highly intelligent and both fit well into and profitted from the mob.mayb u r a wanna be gangster, too simple to live well within the law ,and so u fall for the seeming glamour of gang life
A great interview to be honest, one of the best I've seen, Had watched it a few years back, and re-watched it a few weeks ago, and what a great context and perspective we get from here, from the iconic Pistone and the Donnie Brasco legend. Really shows how much he had to endure personally, and to get rewarded with almost to nothing, and risk with such a sacrifice. True legend.

Great interview. Amazing story. Agent Joe Pistone must be tough as nails. It obviously takes a lot of balls just to be a regular Joe doing what you have to do coming up in organized crime, but to do it while being an undercover agent is absolutely amazing to me.
I mean, I’m sure that not everybody gets to be a “made guy”. They only make the best of the best. Well, Joe Pistone must have been the best of the best since he was about 6 months away from getting made. But he did it as an undercover agent. Then too, look at what Sonny said about him as he was voluntarily going to the sit down where he knew he would be killed. He tells the bartender that he’s going to a sit down that he may not come back from. He calls his girlfriend and tells her that if she sees Donnie: “tell him I loved him and I’m glad it was him, he was just better than us.” That’s not acting. That’s not a front put up by an undercover. That just proves what a great guy Pistone is and what an amazing job he did. 🙏🏻
U call him tough... I call him a great fraud. How he can say he has no remorse for sending many to jail forever and man losing his life who had him in they home around family and viewed him as family. JUST BECAUSE HE FBI AGENT DOESN'T CHANGE THE FACT JOE PISTONE IS A HEARTLESS SCUMBAG

scotie690 I agree, Patrick needs a verbal editor at times. Like at the end when he asks Pistone a hundred times doesn't he resent how much he got paid. Pistone answers it the first time, but Patrick keeps beating it in the ground. Seems that he has a hard time putting his own feelings aside when the answer isn't what he thinks it should be.
GUNz THE WEST COAST KING ---- To be fair though, he didn't have the fbi backing him up while he was deep behind enemy lines. He was all out in the open with the knowledge he could've been brutally killed had they found out who he really was. Even Sonny Black, who died because of Pistone, respected him after finding out the truth.
I read the book shortly after it was published, and loved it. Years later I heard it was a movie with two top notch actors but knew it couldn't compete with the book. Then my wife was watching this on TH-cam but I only caught the first part, and she didn't know how to save it. It took 3 days to find it, and I am enjoying every moment. The interviewer is doing an awesome job, asking Joseph Pistone the right questions to get the most details of the story, even more than the book!
I've never understood how Mafia don's can have massive contracts out on these guys heads, but dudes online can find them and line them up for interviews pretty easy.
They might be able to find them but most likely they have some kind of sercurity or something to stop that from happening. They choose to go too this interview and probably have a spot for them to meet up at.. somewhere safe. Like when Sammy the Bull recently did the Interbiew he said he scoped the place out and did all the resrarch on the interviewer before he went.
I appreciate the podcast. I wish the interviewer would listen more, especially when it's someone like Joseph Pistone. There is no need to initiate dramatic exchanges repeatedly- listen and let him speak.
Constructive criticism: I love the interviews and the ppl u get on ur show, BUT there are too many interruptions! There were like 10x were I wanted to hear the answer and u interrupted and the answer changed course... but great work otherwise.
Lol, why is PBD so surprised Joe didn't want that mafia life to be his real life? Joe is clearly a good guy and tried really hard to convey the fact that gangster life is nothing like the movies. There is a reason most people don't take up that kind of crime.
I wouldn’t doubt if he participated in a murder. What’s the mobsters gonna do? Snitch themselves out so everyone knows an FBI agent was part of a murder😂 they’d do life. They 100% thought Donnie was a gangster. Even lefty said “ he should be in jail”.. Joe defs did some work to have the mobsters soo dumfounded when he came out as an agent.. imo lol
The interviewer cuts him off so many times, it's exhausting to watch. There's no way I'm making it through this whole video. I'll just wait for Michael Franzese's upcoming interview with Pistone. It will be 1000 times better.
Wow, Patrick! What an amazing interview and you probed him well with some great questions! Joe Pistone is indeed loyal and devoted to the FBI. But not that it isn't impossible, I seem to find it hard to believe that within those 6 years of being Donnie Brosco, and only seeing his wife every 4-6 months during that time, that he didn't have a girlfriend on the side. His wife is an ace and truly deserves a medal! And, it's a shame that the FBI didn't pay Joe more money for his phenomenal loyalty and dedication.
Patrick: so what color shirt did you use? Joe- blue Patrick: really? Interesting interesting, why not red? Gotcha. Now let me ask you this have you ever considered using a yellow shirt? Gotcha. Interesting. The reason I ask is because yellow is a bright color and might make you fit in more. How did your wife feel about the blue shirt? Wow! Wow!
So you see your family for roughly 30 days in 6 years.. you spend the rest of your life living in fear and paranoia.. your whole families life will never be the same.. You spend 6 years around dangerous people and you'll never know when your last day on earth is.. You do your country and the city a service which cannot be overstated. You inspire one of the greatest films ever made.. And all you get in return is a total of $5,500 after finishing the work.. A wise man once told me that were only a number, no matter who or where we work. This stands so true with Joe Pistone.

I'm kinda iffy on how he felt about the compensation, whether or not he ever saw someone get killed, or if he really wasn't emotionally involved. But that in itself made the interview better for me because it left me wondering. Hell of an interview, my man. 👌🏾
Well said. All of my thoughts without me having to write it!
“Almost always honest” 🤣
He is gets the awarded for $500,000 & development justice gold medal standards to bring undercover agent as the FBI investigation against these guys from the mob. Well done!!!!
Yeah, I don't respect this dude for not being honest about certain things like you mentioned. If I got what he got for his service, I would have flipped the fuck out.

I watched this a few years ago or one like it - amazing story

He calls his girlfriend and tells her that if she sees Donnie: “tell him I loved him and I’m glad it was him, he was just better than us.”
That’s not acting.
That was a major problem with the movie them because they made it out like Joe was conflicted there was that scene where he was like no I'm not becoming like them I am them. But if this interview is accurate he truly was acting and playing a part.
Phew baby, this has become one of my top 3 favourite channels

Joe never lost that mob vernacular and accent. It just shows how embroiled he got into that deep cover operation.
In the movie Joe says to his wife: "I am not like them, I am one of them." That speaks volumes. One hell of an agent.
In the beginning he said he grew up in an Italian neighborhood so that’s probably just who he’s always been, maybe the reason the FBI even picked him for this job
Lol , grew up in the same neighborhood.
@@Jates They picked him exactly because he was an Italian American in touch with the culture, he spoke the dialect and grew up around Italian criminal figures. He was perfect for the job.

Q😅
Patrick: so what color shirt did you use?
Joe- blue
Patrick: really? Interesting interesting, why not red? Gotcha. Now let me ask you this have you ever considered using a yellow shirt? Gotcha. Interesting. The reason I ask is because yellow is a bright color and might make you fit in more. How did your wife feel about the blue shirt? Wow! Wow!
Gatt it

Can’t believe how much Pacino looks like Lefty!
Except the hat and sunglasses. Lefty was dapper as hell and would never wear stuff like that.
And sounds like him too
I noticed that too. Isn’t Al lucky?
Patrick is really attentive to everything Joe says. It makes for a great interview.
Al Pacino actually looked quite like Lefty, actually surprised me just how much. Great interview from PBD again.
This stands so true with Joe Pistone.
im sure there is much more to it that he isn't allowed to speak of. Similar to what other three letter agencies do for people in the intelligence business. You'll never get the full story because they aren't allowed to speak about it - including finance
His check should've been bigger with all that years of danger
Serving the government is not a service to humanity or the people. Its service to another mob, a more deadly and pernicious one.
