Ion Deluge in a Double Battle could be used to abuse Explosion or Self-Destruct to heal the ally that used it, AND bypass a ghost type. Even better for things weak to electric, like Drifblim, since that means you can pull a sneaky thing, unlike with an Alolan Golem or something, where they might expect it. Niche, yes. But at the same time, not completely.
But that’s not a bad thing, it’s a high power stab move that either deals decent damage or takes down a shield. Salazzle is actually one of the best NPC’s to get.
David 64 probably just me, but other than Wobbuffet (obviously), Salazzle is the worst NPC for me to get. It’s fast, which is usually great, but it has a tendency to do just below the needed amount of damage to expose the barrier, leading to a wasted Dynamax turn. Also it’s defense is trash meaning it dies too easily
Renzo Ramirez well for me maractus is also not that great, it almost always leads with sucker puch which doesn’t nearly do enough damage gor the first shield, effectively wasting a turn. It also uses solar beam on shields which is even more useless. But of course solrock is still worse.
@@patrickhealey5328 so many applications. It can mess with trick room, it can ruin after you, it can kill fast frail damage dealers, basically anything that needs to be fast fears quash.

hey michael! i think that purify is a very extremely situational move, like when you encounter a shiny and you use a status type attack that has a chance to poison, burn, etc. use purify so it doesn't die and you look for an another shiny
Guys, quash on prankster Sableye is amazing. Forcing fast but frail mons, like Dragapult or Inteleon, to go last and take huge damage from a slower attacker like Hattarene or Conkeldur is hugely useful.
This makes me think of the time when I caught my first Hitmonchan and the only move he used in the battle was Helping Hand. That made me feel like I was meant to catch him.
I think my favourite part about this video is that fact that in my moon play though I beat the elite 4 with a wishiwashi, an Ariados that knew toxic thread and a marshadow that knew spectral thief
I'm kinda surprised that Light of Ruin wasn't on this list. It is a Fairy-type special move introduced in Generation 6. It has the highest base power of all Fairy-type moves at 140, but the user of the move receives recoil damage equal to 1/2 of the damage done to the target. The reason you've probably never heard of this move is because it is the signature move of AZ's Eternal Flower Floette, a Pokemon that has not been released and is unobtainable without hacking. It is also one of the few moves that cannot be selected by Metronome, so there is no way to see this move in-game through legitimate means. Then again, a lot of people know about Eternal Flower Floette due to it's status as unused content and a lot of people speculate about why it was never released, so maybe Light of Ruin isn't as obscure as I first thought.
Fire Lash isn’t that unused, since it’s now used by Sizzlipede and Centiscortch. And now, Intelleon uses Tearful Look, seen in your battle with Leon in Sword and Shield. I’ve heard of Spectral Thief, Fire Lash, Tearful Look, Eerie Impulse, Ion Deluge, Crafty Shield, Belch, Inferno, and Double Iron Bash.
For "Purify" I can think of 1 good purpose in single battle. IF, you are fighting a Shiny or Legendary with a low catch rate. You weakened that Pokemon with Poison to try and help yourself catch it. But they have gotten into red health without being caught. So you Purify it to prevent it dying.
Michael: “It is very difficult to control when your Pokémon can use Belch” Me: *laughs in Max Raids* Explanation: Belch will always work in a Max Raid Battle, regardless of whether the Pokémon has eaten a Berry or not. Edit: WHY IS THIS COMMENT MY MOST LIKED?!
Purify is situational but it works great for guts strategies, position heal, sleep talk, and facade set which are all good strats I the right team compositions
I think Rototiller should be a part of this. It boosts both of the attacking stats of grounded (meaning they are on the ground) grass types and fails if there are none. It is only available in the kalos and alola games and it doesnt have the widest amount of pokemon that learn it, and it's really situational, only being sort of viable in double battles.
Michael: a large majority of you probably haven’t heard of hold hands. Me, who saw the move in the video thumbnail: *I am 4 parallel universes ahead of you*
Hold hands could be a status move that raises the stats on an ally since holding hands makes then very happy, this means that they will get more determination to win for the pokemon that used it
Quash use hypothetically: Two fast mons, one with Metal Burst. Quash the metal burst mon since it only works if it moves last. Some good steel mons are pretty fast so maybe?
It has competetive viability by using it on a prankster mon. Just quash your opponent's fastest team member and attack it with a slow but very hard hitting pokemon on your team, like aggron or slaking.
quash is pretty good in doubles bc of prankster. Especially with how high the power level of vgc tends to be. So you have a mon with prankster and quash use quash and a pokemon that you're worried will be able to knock out or do significant damage to it's partner and then that partner is able to knock it out before it can attack.
I have had Marshadow since it came out. Even transferred it to SWSH! Spectral Thief has been its signature move and I’ve totally taken it for granted. I love the move~
I believe to get the TM for zap cannon you have to return the power plant part post game in kanto and the owner gives it to you and the only reason I know this is because i played several runs of gold and chrystal and side note in chrystal the battery was dead so I got so good I could beat the eighth gym in a hour.
Sure, it's cute, but that's about it. Why? Did Splash really need a Double Battle equivalent? It's just literally Splash, but the Double Battle version. Cute if the 2 Pokemon using it are in the same breeding category, I guess? Or if you and your girlfriend's Pokemon are battling, and you both use it, and it plays a cutesy animation, which does absolutely nothing. Well, too bad cutesy animations don't win you the battle. Otherwise, Hold Hands would probably be more popular.
@@shawnfields2369 It could be useful in catching pokémon with friend evolutions, using hold hands could up their friendship upon catching and stacking this with a luxury ball or friendship ball would be huge! Yet they didn’t do this..It’s still useless. Edit: it could of also afflicted the enemy pokémon with confusion or attract, either it likes your pokémon too much to hurt it always or it’s confused by the gesture.
A move that I never see anyone talk about is Spotlight. Basically it acted like follow me or rage pouder, but you used it on your ally to give them the affect. Granted, people use follow me/rage pouder to get things done with a vulnerable pokemon (set up, heal, etc), but I feel like it could have some niche situations, like maybe redirecting a scald onto a water absorb pokemon. What makes it so forgetable is that it was introduced in gen 7... and then immediately removed in gen 8.
I’m glad you addressed ‘quash’. I was playing ultra moon and had just defeated the elite four and champion and was exploring poni plains. I found quash by accident and til this day I haven’t used it so I just have a random TM in my bag now. God I wish you could sell TMs
Purify is best used with a team mate with Rest. Rest-Purify is a variant of Resto-Chesto that heals the teammate, gets rid of nonvolatile status condition on said team mate, and heals Pukumuku in one go.

Then again, a lot of people know about Eternal Flower Floette due to it's status as unused content and a lot of people speculate about why it was never released, so maybe Light of Ruin isn't as obscure as I first thought.
I knew about it but isnt this move unofficial
@@lobo_9344 no it's not unofficial, the move is inside the game, programmed into it, just never released.

Eerie impulse is in mystery dungeons, so i think its pretty known
Smeargle with Crafty Shield is actually very useful in VGC.

Doesn't Metal Burst have negative priority, like Counter/Mirror Coat?
quash is pretty good in doubles bc of prankster. Especially with how high the power level of vgc tends to be. So you have a mon with prankster and quash use quash and a pokemon that you're worried will be able to knock out or do significant damage to it's partner and then that partner is able to knock it out before it can attack.

You mean a fire type Zap Cannon, right? The thing that Dynamic Punch was a fighting type version of?
Zap cannon is 150bp now
Wasn't Dynamic Punch from Gen 2, while Zap Cannon from Gen 3?
@O Lobinho Encapuzado I don't remember ever using or getting attacked by a Zap Cannon in Gen 2, but maybe it's just my memory.
Both Dynamic Punch and Zap Cannon are from gen 2.
I believe to get the TM for zap cannon you have to return the power plant part post game in kanto and the owner gives it to you and the only reason I know this is because i played several runs of gold and chrystal and side note in chrystal the battery was dead so I got so good I could beat the eighth gym in a hour.

Not gonna lie, Hold Hands & Purify are the only moves I've never heard of!
Yea the creeps on the internet told me (not offending ya :3) nobody studies math more than Pokémon moves (a-wink wink ;)
They could of made hold hands a move that increases the friendship level of the Pokemon it's used on 😳
But the animation is cute I guess
True and then you could use like return
A move that I never see anyone talk about is Spotlight. Basically it acted like follow me or rage pouder, but you used it on your ally to give them the affect. Granted, people use follow me/rage pouder to get things done with a vulnerable pokemon (set up, heal, etc), but I feel like it could have some niche situations, like maybe redirecting a scald onto a water absorb pokemon. What makes it so forgetable is that it was introduced in gen 7... and then immediately removed in gen 8.

@Daniella Georgiou-Norman I genuinely forgot I put this comment here lol
Purify is best used with a team mate with Rest. Rest-Purify is a variant of Resto-Chesto that heals the teammate, gets rid of nonvolatile status condition on said team mate, and heals Pukumuku in one go.
