Today I went to my local music store and got to hear the krks G4 7s verse the Adams T7Vs. For me I noticed that the T7V's sounded amazing compared to the krks. I'm also a trance music artist and I'm happy to have them in my studio for production and djing.
I've been checking out your channel more ever since I've gotten more serious about my sound quality and I noticed these in the background of your videos. You're a lot better of a producer and a musician than I am, and the Adam's are way better than I'll need for some time I'm sure. I've had mine for about a year now. I've never really questioned my purchasing decision. I did quite a bit of research before buying them. I probably watched this video before I pulled the trigger. I don't remember, but after hearing your mixes and your overall level of production and fidelity in many of your other videos I am somehow even more confident with my purchase.
You really need acoustic treatment with bass traps in the corners. Without it, it doesn't matter what monitors your using. Also say your monitors are 3 ft apart they need to be 3ft from your ears at a 30° angle so your hearing them accurately! Also with the bass port on the back you might want to pull the monitors at least a 12 inches from the wall.
Adams opens up the high end which levels out the bass and makes it cleaner. 1 thing I noticed from my lsr305s is that Adams can give you extreme details at low volumes. I use my lsr305 for tracking and tv7 for mastering

KRK Rokits are DJ speakers and Adams are professional audio Monitors. They are no comparisons to be made. Now if you were to compare VXT or Vs to Adams that would then be in the same ball park!!!!
I'm working on Yamaha HS series after years of working on much bigger reference speakers (my ears are thanking me!). I looked at the Adams too and liked the Yamahas in the end for my sense of sound balance.
Happy new monitors. While we can't see the geometry of your room from the wide angle lens it looks like your sitting well inside the equilateral triangle that is usual for stereo auditioning. Of course it might just be an optical illusion. If they're positioned too wide you'll get a “hole” in your stereo field, but you knew that already I'm sure. That said I watched a vid from Tony Maserati where he said he preferred his Tannoys to focus Just behind his head. But only Just. Have fun listening to all your favourite albums while you get a feel for the Adams.
Not to mention his empty walls and all the reverberations that can be heard because of them. This room is no studio. Nobody does any serious work in here.
You sound like a know it all who has done nothing. I produced the #2 top blues album in Australia last year and also produced two other albums that had airplay on national radio stations. That aside I've also mixed two live albums that also had air play. Let me know what you've done 😀
Ribbon(from Adam) tweeters and soft dome(from KRK) both use different technology so bound to sound different at high frequencies. I thought you want and should make some comments i.e. comparing them with KRK monitors, in term of sound accurate without tweaking on the PC software, etc.
Your room sounds like it has a 230-240Hz ring to it. Either that or there is a snare drum that's resonating in the background somewhere :) But great review, as always. Looking forward to trying these speakers for myself soon.
Your room has an acoustic problem I recommend you to take care of it, also you should arrange your monitors' locations as well you are not getting the full potential of the sound.

Nice price point too! The size difference would be more likely because of the 7" vs 8" speaker as they generally need a larger enclosure to make them efficient. Good bang for the buck though. It would be interesting to see how this budget set sounds against their A7X's - but I can't see you popping down the road to grab a $2000 set to compare with!

Yeah i had the same worries all the time. I read its totally fine for budget gear to have hiss. Apparently the super expensive stuff is where thats a worry of the past. Dont worry tho buddy its just some white noise every speaker ive ever had has had some
Because I am producing my own music and recorded it myself and have it in the mix stages on my old speakers. That and there's no way I'm putting copyright music on TH-cam. This video was for demonstration purposes. I've used them a lot for even music I produced a year ago to get a feel for them.
Basically the KRK’s are good revealing monitors that let you hear everything. I always thought the KRK’s sound muffled. That being said, the G4’s are a lot better.
I’ve been eyeing these and this is the first review where I felt someone(you) didn’t love them, but they did have great sound. I also have Rokit 8’s. After a year of posting this I wonder did you go back to using the Rokits or did you find your sound with the Adams.
I had i good listen to them today. I had the rokits 5 g4 on order at first but had them compared in the store today. And when i got home i canceled my order of the rokits and bought the adams right away. These monitors are absolute beasts. So glad i heard them. The sound of them on this price range is fenominal.
@fu J you won’t find anything that comes close for twice the price and that’s not an exaggeration. The tweets are better than the offerings from other manufacturers that cost literally 10 times as much and they are good enough to take you all the way from production, mix down to the final master. The KRK are good for production but they aren’t nearly flat enough for mixing.
I have a budget of $700, In my country both hs8 and these are same price, can you please suggest which ones should I go for and are a better value for money?
Considering the state of the room, these are the last monitors you want to be assessing on camera. Aside from the consumer presentation boxes, the size and porting are the key give-aways. The lack of detented volume control on back is another factor that has to taken seriously. They look fantastic and in certain cases they might be able to help some people, but that room is completely working against you. You would be better off getting Sonarworks 4 with a measuring mic after ditching that ridiculous monitor placement setup and those cheap stands,and also consider using Sonarworks to set up a decent quality headphone profile. As for mixing anything on that set-up, you'd be better off booking a studio and mixing in a proper room on proper gear. These will be fine for doing your edits but that's absolutely it for that set up. I won't pick on your consumer grade interface cuz I think it's also "fine" /just OK for tracking/edits. By contrast, you could track your album OK with it and hire a real engineer to make it sound it's best. Do what you want but you're heading down a slippery slope with that set up and approach. As for monitor output level, keep the volume DOWN! Louder monitoring in crap rooms is the absolute number 1 no-no. Stay safe and well man, you really seem to need some experienced pro help with it all. ✌️🎶🎶
Can you clarify a bit your statement about "not hi-fi" sound of these monitors? BTW, are these monitors good for actually listening music comparing to a pair of passive hi-fi speakers with amplifier (in some relevant price range of course)?
For the price of these they should sound way better. Adam uses a ribbon tweeter..they are designed to go extremely hi in frequency...generally higher than we can hear.
nice speakers i run a set of yorkville YSM 8s in my studio and yes you got wactch the bass in the mix as the ysm 8s are also very bass'y great video man

I was looking at the T7V’s or LP-6 and decided on the Adams because the bass was more detailed… that being said, the Kali’s had louder, fuller bass but the sound was muddier. The IN series midrange driver should clean things up, but I’m not sure if they would sound $300 better than the T7V’s.
I need your invaluable advice. I play a fender american special SSS stratocaster through a Boss GT100+BossRC300, and I listen to the sound through headphones. The sound is fantastic. Can I get the same sound by using Rokit 8 G3 studio monitors instead of the headphones? The sound through an amp or amps is not that good. Thanks in advance.

I have demoed monitors for customers over the last year as I work at a music store. No one buys Rockit's anymore after hearing the JBL, the Yamaha HS series and the Adams T5/T7. Just an observation...The Adams are a great value for the money!
On the contrary, I know an incredible engineer here in LA who has his monitors in the corners. Not literally pushed back into the corners but ya know. It makes the middle of the room a perfect listening point for his clients.
Because you are probably creating music with an 60 years old technology (Electric guitar and tube amp)... If you don`t want to burn money go to a music store and listen to the monitors and take the size of your room you will be using them into consideration. I went from HS8 to HS7 because I needed less low end and a faster response.....
You'd get far more accurate sound and your job of producing music would be more worthwhile if you used 50mm or even better 75mm acoustic foam tiles on the walls with corner bass traps. Your room is echoey I can hear that but also can see you have no acoustic treatment so that's why. I used to have a recording studio and I covered about 60% of my studio in 100mm acoustic foam tiles with 4ft x 2ft x1ft thick bass traps in the corners and it was amazing. If you're worried about the look of acoustic foam tiles on the walls you can cover them in white cotton fabric, the sound will still go through the cotton fabric and will still be absorbed by the foam tiles. Your room sound reflections sound terrible.
Ay man your speakers are so far apart man they supposed to be the same length that you are from where you are sitting on ex if you are 1 meter away from the monitors your monitors need to be 1 meter apart from each other
Don't you have to know the frequency response graphs before you buy a monitor? I think the Rockets are pretty bad, uneven. Can't remember the Atoms maybe I'll look them up. If you don't spend a great deal of money you're either not going to get a flat response or not know what the response is.
All monitors are very different. You kind of get used to any speaker over time but these new ones are a lot more balanced than the KRK's so it's a win in my book :-)

Just wondering Shane..aren't they supposed to be placed MCUH more close to your sitting position? They are studio monitors, not Hi Fi speakers, an In my opinion you placed them way to far in regard to your chair. (ears) Then again, you probably play guitar at some other place in that room, so they might be useful for that soound..?
If you're in a professional studio maybe. I have them angled towards me and I've produced two albums that had airplay in this room so it worked fine. If I could move them closer I would but the space is what it is right now :-)
I have ordered one pair of Adam T8V from thomann and one of them is louder both gain knobs being at 0 db. Poor quality monitos, I will return them! 😂😂😂
Yeah, speakers look classy, but your studio? Ehhh.... not so much. No acoustic treatment, messy wiring, messy looking overall, wrong listening position, speakers in corners and too close to walls, speaker distance apart is wrong, proper stereo imaging in relation to listening position wrong, the computer desk is too narrow for proper computer monitor ergonomic distance, etc. Lots of basic mistakes happing in this studio.
I'm sorry but this is so goofy, the triangle is not there, I can here the HF bouncing around in his room from the t shirt mic over my phone speaker🤦♂️, and obviously just about anything over $250 for the pair is going to be better than 1st generation rokit 8s, sorry dude but as a mix engineer this is hard to watch without laughing lol😂
Don't be like that. Top composers and producers don't treat room. One of them is Hans Zimmer. Too much fuss about room treatment and how important it is for average producer. For example Daniel James uses 150$ monitors, and he is composing for biggest video game and movie Blockbusters. More important is to learn how your speaker sound not to waste your money on stuff you don't need. The problem is that 95% of the people don't have ear and talent for the music, so they need to justify lack of success in the way you do.

I own KRK 6" speakers and I tested T7V last week and they sound amazing, very clear on high, mid and low freq.

Yes. About 50 hrs at least of substantial playback with a good source to burn them in.

+4dBu and -10dBv aren't an attenuation metric, it's just describing that it wants mic level in and line level in. Worth educating yourself on that :)

KRK Rokits are not Studio monitors, Adams are Studio Monitors. Monitors are not made to sound good they are made to sound true and expose flaws

Man, +4dBu (0'316V) is the standard for "hi-fi" and -10dBV (not dBu) (1'23V) the standard for professionals.

It's called burn in. You should do it. There's no use in talking about how they sound until you've settled the speakers correctly.
Rubbish. I've tested so many guitar speakers and everyone talks about them breaking in. The either sound good when you swap them or they don't.

Because you are probably creating music with an 60 years old technology (Electric guitar and tube amp)... If you don`t want to burn money go to a music store and listen to the monitors and take the size of your room you will be using them into consideration. I went from HS8 to HS7 because I needed less low end and a faster response.....
You'd get far more accurate sound and your job of producing music would be more worthwhile if you used 50mm or even better 75mm acoustic foam tiles on the walls with corner bass traps. Your room is echoey I can hear that but also can see you have no acoustic treatment so that's why. I used to have a recording studio and I covered about 60% of my studio in 100mm acoustic foam tiles with 4ft x 2ft x1ft thick bass traps in the corners and it was amazing. If you're worried about the look of acoustic foam tiles on the walls you can cover them in white cotton fabric, the sound will still go through the cotton fabric and will still be absorbed by the foam tiles. Your room sound reflections sound terrible.

Don't you have to know the frequency response graphs before you buy a monitor? I think the Rockets are pretty bad, uneven. Can't remember the Atoms maybe I'll look them up. If you don't spend a great deal of money you're either not going to get a flat response or not know what the response is.
All monitors are very different. You kind of get used to any speaker over time but these new ones are a lot more balanced than the KRK's so it's a win in my book :-)

Just wondering Shane..aren't they supposed to be placed MCUH more close to your sitting position? They are studio monitors, not Hi Fi speakers, an In my opinion you placed them way to far in regard to your chair. (ears) Then again, you probably play guitar at some other place in that room, so they might be useful for that soound..?
If you're in a professional studio maybe. I have them angled towards me and I've produced two albums that had airplay in this room so it worked fine. If I could move them closer I would but the space is what it is right now :-)
I have ordered one pair of Adam T8V from thomann and one of them is louder both gain knobs being at 0 db. Poor quality monitos, I will return them! 😂😂😂

Yeah, speakers look classy, but your studio? Ehhh.... not so much. No acoustic treatment, messy wiring, messy looking overall, wrong listening position, speakers in corners and too close to walls, speaker distance apart is wrong, proper stereo imaging in relation to listening position wrong, the computer desk is too narrow for proper computer monitor ergonomic distance, etc. Lots of basic mistakes happing in this studio.

Don't be like that. Top composers and producers don't treat room. One of them is Hans Zimmer. Too much fuss about room treatment and how important it is for average producer.
For example Daniel James uses 150$ monitors, and he is composing for biggest video game and movie Blockbusters.
More important is to learn how your speaker sound not to waste your money on stuff you don't need.
The problem is that 95% of the people don't have ear and talent for the music, so they need to justify lack of success in the way you do.
