      The video kinds hugs the Yorkist's nuts, when the reality was a lot more complicated and nobody was right. In fact, most everybody was an asshole. Here's the short version:
      English hate the French.
      Pro-war-with-France English faction hates Pro-peace English faction.
      Nevilles hate the Percys, and likewise.
      York (pro-war) hates Somerset (pro-peace).
      York's family has also long felt Henry IV stole the monarchy from them and they deserved the throne.
      English economy sucks, nobody is happy.
      1422:
      Henry V dies the most Oregon Trail death possible, dysentery. Henry VI becomes king, problem is, he's not even a year old yet. Henry V was really good at hitting French people with axes, Henry VI as he grew up wasn't really interested in warfare, and the English loved nothing more than a king who liked hitting French people with axes. Other problem was the Hundred Years War with France was unwinnable in the long term for the English, but Henry V had fooled the English into thinking it was possible with his victories.
      1448:
      Somerset gains power as Henry VI's main advisor, which comes with a corresponding loss of power for York. York hates Somerset.
      1453:
      French beat the English, Henry VI falls mentally ill and turns catatonic, which York uses as a pretext to steal power from Somerset, succeeds temporarily until Henry VI wakes up.
      1455:
      York murders Somerset, and his allies the Nevilles murder the Percy and Clifford family heads at St Albans. This starts several years of intermittent warfare, and a few leadership changes as York seizes power, loses it, seizes it again.
      1460:
      Lancastrians (named after Lancaster, the historical holdings of the royal family, and includes allies such as the Percys and Clifford's son) kill York and his 2nd son at Wakefield battle, stick their heads on spikes.
      1461:
      Yorkists, now led by York's son Edward get lucky at Towton and a snowstorm fucks up the Lancastrians' day. 28000 people die, Edward becomes king, Henry VI flees to Scotland.
      1464-1470: Edward IV marries a lesser English woman instead of a Burgundian princess, now the Nevilles hate Edward and back Henry VI. Edward IV temporarily deposed, but gets crown back due to political pressure, then deposed again, Henry VI made king again... briefly.
      1471:
      Edward IV wins battles at Barnet and Tewksbury, kills Richard Neville and Henry VI's son, then has Henry VI murdered. Edward IV remains king until he dies of an illness.
      1483:
      Richard, Edward's youngest brother, claims Edward's marriage was illegitimate, locks up Edward's two sons, and they disappear, likely with a case of the murders. Richard III becomes king.
      1485:
      Henry Tudor, a distant sorta-cousin to Henry VI comes back, kills Richard III at Bosworth Field battle, becomes Henry VII, starting the Tudor dynasty. Has son who becomes the infamous Henry VIII, and the rest is history.

    • @enxebre64

      Those remains are not of the princes. In the first time, they were founded in a place (under a staircase) and in a depth (as deep as the level were has been found bones of the Neolitic) that deny the possibility. That same place makes impossible a discret and quick burial, so everybody could be seen it. Finally, we don´t know even the sex of the children, but yes a fundamental detail: both present a particular hereditary dental characteristic, missing in any House of York member.

      Well, Edward III, Edward The Black Prince, and Richard II are Plantagenets. The first Plantagenet King was Henry II who was the grandson of Henry I and great grandson of William The Conqueror, the vassal duke of Normandy France. The Platagenets were French nobles and when Henry I and his son died, Henry I's daughter married Geoffrey Plantagenet and campaigned against Stephen I who stole the throne. That's why England and France hated each other because Henry II and The English Nobles, who were French, still owned a lot of territory in France, about two thirds, controlling more territory than The French King. Philip Augustus, an ambitious prick who left Richard The Lion Heart in The Middle East to deal with Saladin, gathered his army to try an retake The English controlled French territory. Richard returned to France and launched a campaign to defend his holdings. When Richard died and under the reign of John Lackland, The French retook Normandy, Brittany, and Maine. Under the reign of Henry III, most of Aquitaine was lost and all The English had left was Gascony and I think Calais.

As records concurrent to Richard the III's reign were actually very favorable to him, and Henry's actual Lancastrian descent is far more removed. The Tudors looking to establish their power base took measures to propagandize Richard the III into the monster and raise Henry the VII as a legit king despite a decent from a page who married the widow of Henry the V.

Once I played it I was concentrated on it when I hear Wine Wars (the first song that played in the video) playing in the background. I was freaking out because I thought some update allowed me both to listen to music while watching videos but then I realized that Wine Wars wasn't the song I was listening to before playing the video. I deactivated the music app and replayed the video, the song was still there. Then I read the comments and saw that it was officially music from the best game ever. I feel like it's slightly important to note that George (the king's brother who who wanted the throne for himself) was married to Warwick's DAUGHTER, Isabel. Warwick's other daughter, Anne, ended up married to Prince Edward and then to Richard of Gloucester, who became Richard III. Say what you will about Warwick-- the man knew how to play his cards. He's not called the Kingmaker for nothing, kids.

    No mention of Salisbury, the Percy's or the Battle of Mortimer's Cross. Edward wasn't a boy when he went to London, he was 6 ft 3 and had just defeated and killed Sir Owen Tudor.

    The history of Richard and the "princes in the Tower" was written under Henry Tudor's patronage, and made most famous by Shakespeare. But history provides no evidence that people were shocked at Richard's usurpation over his illegitimate nephews, no evidence of them being missing or imprisoned in the Tower, no evidence of their murder. Indeed,, it is more likely that Henry consolidated his hold on the throne by murdering the princes, and blaming it on Richard. History is written by the victors.
    Read: The Daughter of Time. It's a novel about a 1950's detective investigating the disappearance of the princes, but the history in it is quite solid. And it's also the consensus of historians of the period.

      If the princes were only killed once Henry VII took power then why did Richard not disprove the reputation the Lancastrians had given him as a child murderer by publicly displaying the two?

    • @Andrea-yh3rc
      @Andrea-yh3rc 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      cool story, Richard still usurped the throne, disinherited his nephews and triggered the events that would lead to their murders.

    • @itsjoe6474
      @itsjoe6474 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Celestine Cassus Richard was killed in battle remember - a battle that, if I remember rightly, is documented as happening three days before it actually did to come before Richard’s coronation and make him the usurper

    • @mojotheaverage
      @mojotheaverage 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The daughter of time is a biased novel written by a Richard iii fan girl, not an academic description of the events. If the boys were murdered, Richard is still the strongest candidate for the deed. And regardless, he was still a usurper and actively took part in the defamation of his own brother and the ostracism of his own nephews; murderer or no, he was still a snivelling little shit lol
