  • The Dark Knight is the 2nd installment of the "Dark Knight Trilogy" and it was flat out awesome. The performance by Heath Ledger completely blew me away (R.I.P.) along with amazing shots and visuals. This one was a long time coming and I finally got to watch. Thanks for Watching! Joker mixed the address on purpose because he knew he cared for her from that encounter. You can look at Batman’s body language when he seen it was Harvey & not Rachel.

That semi truck flip was real and apparently one of the hardest stunts to pull off at that time in history. I guess they really did it between two buildings like that and to get a semi to flip like that took some crazy science, you should look up the behind the scenes for this. Nolan is a genius like you always say.

when joker crashes the party, that was the first scene where everyone saw heath in the joker makeup. you can see rachael struggling to look at him and she even called for directors to stop the scene, alfred also has a like when joker first gets off the elevator that was completely scrapped because he was so taken from heath

"It's not about money... it's about sending a message."
Fun Fact: Theatrical movie debut of David Dastmalchian.
What's The Emergency Fact: While filming a chase scene on Lake Street, the Chicago Police Department received several calls from concerned citizens stating that the police were involved in a vehicle pursuit with a dark vehicle of unknown make or model.
Epic Cameo Fact: Senator Patrick Leahy (D) of Vermont is the older gentleman that confronts The Joker (Heath Ledger) at the party thrown by Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) for Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart). Senator Leahy is a huge Batman fan and arranged an early showing of the movie for a fundraiser for the children's section of the Kellogg-Hubbard Library in Montpelier, Vermont. He also appeared in Batman Forever (1995), Batman & Robin (1997), The Dark Knight Rises (2012), and as a Batman: The Animated Series (1992) voice.
And Scene Fact: Heath Ledger directed both homemade videos that The Joker sends to GCN. The first video involving the fake Batman (Andy Luther) was done under writer, producer, and director Christopher Nolan's supervision. Nolan thought Ledger had done so well with that sequence, he felt there was no need for him to be there when it came time to film the scene where reporter Mike Engel (Michael Anthony Hall) reads The Joker's statement. He put his trust in Ledger and let him do whatever he wanted, ultimately pleased with the result after he'd seen the outcome.
Becoming The Joker: In preparation for his role as the Joker, Heath Ledger hid away in a motel room for about six weeks. During this extended stay of seclusion, Ledger delved deep into the psychology of the character. He devoted himself to developing the Joker's every tic, namely the voice and that sadistic-sounding laugh (for the voice, Ledger's goal was to create a tone that didn't echo the work Jack Nicholson did in his 1989 performance as the Joker). Ledger's interpretation of the Joker's appearance was primarily based on the chaotic, disheveled look of punk rocker Sid Vicious combined with the psychotic mannerisms of Malcolm McDowell's character, Alex De Large, from A Clockwork Orange (1971). Heath Ledger's sudden death from drug toxicity on January 22, 2008, prompted immediate speculation over this movie's state and Ledger's disposition prior to death. Soon after Ledger's death was announced, Warner Bros. issued a statement that verified that Ledger had finished all of his scenes in principal photography, as well as post-production duties (looping), thus making the Joker his final, completed movie role. Rumors abounded that playing the intense role had taken its toll on Ledger's mental state, causing him to become depressed and take the wrong combination of drugs as a result. However, his family has since put such rumors to rest by stating that far from being depressed, he had a lot of fun playing the role. Ledger did suffer from insomnia throughout his life, and would often take sleeping pills together with other prescription drugs (something his sister had actually warned against the night before his death). Unfortunately, the mix he took that night proved to be a fatal combination.

thanks for all of these facts. I really do appreciate that. This film was amazing, and I completely understand why it's held in high regard. For Heath Ledger, the guy was a special talent. This is the only thing I've seen him in, but he was phenomenal to go along with the directing stuff you mentioned. I hate that he went through tragedy, but this will live on forever in his legacy. I thank you for watching!!

      You're welcome.
10 Things I Hate About You (1999) and The Patriot (2000) are two great examples of Heath Ledger's great acting talent outside this movie.
      Merry Christmas! ✝️ 🙏 🎄 🎁

It makes no sense to blow up the other boat. From everything we know of the Joker, he can't be trusted. The detonators could actually be for their own boats, or blow both boats

    • @shawnbenjamin9636

Throughout the entire movie, the Joker was trying to prove that people are rotten by nature and would turn on each other at a moment's notice if pushed in any situation. He made that clear during his interrogation. "I'll show you. When the chips are down, these civilized people... they'll eat each other".

@@shawnbenjamin9636 but my point stands, we dont know what detonator blows up each boat. The Joker is a sociopath. You cant put it past him to say the detonator was for the other boat, but actually be for their own boat. It would be some twisted poetic justice if they used the detonator to blow up the other boat, but actually blew themselves up. It would be the Jokers way of punishing the selfish people

    • @shawnbenjamin9636
      @shawnbenjamin9636 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@shaunfarley7087 You still don't understand his intent. By forcing them to blow each other up, whoever survives would have to continue living with an ugliness in them for the rest of their lives. That they were so desperate to survive that they would be willing to throw away any and all forms of morality, be willing to sink to any low. Thus proving the Joker's views of people and society as a whole that no one is inherently good.

The city of Chicago is a legit supporting actor in this movie.
Then underground chase is Lower Wacker Drive.
The courtroom is Daley Plaza, which is the Circuit Court of Cook County.
The bar where Two Face kills the cop is Twin Anchors (legendary for ribs).
The semi truck flip is LaSalle Street facing the Board of Trade building (which was model for Wayne Tower in Batman Begins).
Nolan loved shooting in Chicago so much on Begins he basically did most of the second movie there.

If you want to see some other good performances from Heath Ledger that may not be as well known in the States there's a couple Aussie films he did that are really worth checking out.
Ones called Two Hands & the other is called Candy, dont let the name fool you its a pretty heavy movie at times but it just showcases the range of character which Heath could portray because he didn't want to become an actor who got typecast that's why he took on such different roles.

This movie is a true masterpiece while I adore this movie I think Matt Reeves made a better Batman film with The Batman I think both films are cinematic masterpieces but The Batman definitely handled Batman better than The Dark Knight I love The Dark Knight Trilogy I just wish Batman developed as a character it was only Bruce Wayne that got development what makes The Batman so great is that Batman actually develops as a character he goes from a tortured vigilante only hiding in the shadows to a beacon of hope for Gotham that's what I wanted from The Dark Knight Trilogy but Batman was basically a side character in this trilogy and I think Batman should've gotten more shine but I love it anyway
