  • We check out a Scorsese classic with "Taxi Driver". In my opinion, a peak film noir that makes you feel so many ways about the main character "Travis" and his mindset augmented by past and present experiences. With some of the best visual aesthetics you can find in a film, along with smooth music, ride along (pun intended) as I take in the masterpiece that knocks it out of the park. Thanks for Watching! So glad to see you dig into one of the best ever. I watched this movie more times than I can count. You asked what it was about? It's a pure psychological descent into madness.. but he starts off trying to hold on. Man, you see he's trying. The ending is magnificent... this man Travis dies in that room after the shootout. Everything that happens after that is a dream! Take another close look. Betsy coming back to him, Iris saved and home with her folks, him being a hero in the papers.... just like he wanted. It didn't happen.. the man went out in a blaze in the end. One of my favorites of all time! And that's saying A LOT. Keep more of the classics coming, as well as all the rest.

Visually, one of the best movies I've seen, film noir is awesome.
Travis to me was such a conflicted character. Innocuous at the start, but once he felt he was done wrong by Betsy, he started to unravel. Being ex military im sure plays a factor as well. Him wanting to save iris from that lifestyle gives you hope that there's still some good, but I felt that he was too far gone.
Scorsese is a mastermind, and I definitely will do more of his stuff on the channel. Thanks for watching! 🙏🏿

@@sidneyjacques. Totally right about the visual look and tone of the film. This could almost be read as an origin story of a mass shooter.

For great score, tone and visuals, you might wanna check out Midnight Cowboy, Vanishing Point and One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest. I think you'd appreciate them just as much. Oh and 'Crack in the 80's' has gotta be one of the best off-the-cuff compliments ever!

Loving this reaction and especially how you draw attention to the technical aspects of filmmaking, the score and the overall authentic, gritty look of 70's cinema. Performances and subject matter were much tougher in that period than present-day Politically Correct movies. It wasn't all feelgood Tom Hanks fluff with sanitised characters and storylines, but uncompromising studies of the underbelly of society, the lost souls fallen through the cracks. Can anyone imagine namby-pambies like Timothee-cheekbones-Chalamet or Zac-Disney-Efron inhabiting a role this dark and unhinged?

Jodie Foster was 12 when she shot this. She said in an interview that at twelve she already had more movie making experience than Scorsese and DeNiro combined.

back at it again with the great movie choices! real ones on Lb knew this was comin 😏 deniro and scorsese are such a goated duo, but i dont mess with this one as much as king of comedy. which especially after seeing this you should check out at some point, itll make you wanna bully todd philips for his creative input (or lack thereof) on joker lmao some of my favourite film noir reccs i got for ya are thief 1981 easily the best looking night time movie ever, and good time 2017 for a more recent pick
