    I like the way you incorporate old photos into the narration of the story’s you research, always well done. I like to look at historical sights too but my wife isn’t as understanding as Sarah is, you two make a great pair of adventure hunters 👍

    There was a similar "battle" between Petaluma and Santa Rosa in Sonoma County. instead of shooting each other they decided to discuss their differences over drinks at the Washoe House.

    I was probably "dragged" through volcano as a kid as we used to go to Daffodil Hill nearby. I don't remember any of this information you shared. May need to go to this town also. Thanks for re-introducing me to so many places I didn't appreciate as kid!

    • @jbenziggy
      @jbenziggy  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, when I was a kid my dad dragged us around on weekend day trips. I groaned and moaned but you know what I did as a dad? The very same thing! And I think part of my quest to do these videos was born out of those "boring" trips I was forced on as a kid. I didn't appreciate it so much then now but I sure do today! Go and check out this town again with adult eyes. Oh, and try the burgers that we didn't get to. Thanks for watching. Please subscribe to our channel!

    Thanks for taking me to Volcano. I just learned the story of the civil war in Volcano given at the California State Park Museum in the McClellan Industrial Park. A hearse is in that museum that was used to smuggle the cannon into Volcano and then fired just for display and that ended the battle. I also had to look up Starr King's life because I attended the Starr King school in Sacramento and never knew who he was.

    💛...the guy was probably asking if you were there to investigate paranormal activity, as several hotels in the area are noted for that...also, my step-son was in a midsummer night's dream, presented by the amador county players, back in the early 1990's, on that amphitheater...sro crowd, probably more in the audience than in the town's population...great episode...

    Wow , I can't believe the old jail still standing...back when I lived in Pine Grove, it was locked up not open like that. The eagle band was a shop there. My dad was involved in the Theatre group for many years. Still is or he might have retired from now. I remember being in my first play, "Things go bump in the night" was amazing. Alot of memories. Interesting connection between this area and Liversedge. Just goes to show that a hero can come from anywhere. It's ashame that the jail became a trash dump. I never knew that the Civil War extended this far West. Very funny Superman sign in the phone booth. Being a dog lover, I appreciated the very historic dog and people fountain from 1976. Interesting epitaphs on some of the headstones in the cemetery. From what people wrote on them you get a real sense that they placed a lot of importance on eternal life. My favorite..."I know that my Reedeemer liveth".💕

      Thank you, Jay! There is a hotel in Coulterville which everybody says Theodore Roosevelt stayed out. Only problem is they said he stayed there on the way to Yosemite and Roosevelt went by way of the train to Raymond, far from Coulterville. It's not true but was even repeated in The Modesto Bee and I called them on it. LOL. We'll keep researching and videotaping our adventures! Thanks!

    Can’t wait for you 2 to get to Mokelumne Hill. So much great history there. Don’t forget the Chili Gulch marker on Hwy 49 just south of the town if you do go there.

    This reminds me of an old mining town in the Sierras called Georgetown. Just about every building has an historic marker
    The cemetery is charming and interesting too.

    Again, I like catching up with your adventures. There is one cemetery in New Hope/Yardley/Washington's Crossing area in Pennsylvania that you would enjoy. If you ever get the chance. I used to go there a lot, over 30 years ago.
