I can just imagine H. Jon Benjamin in a recording booth singing his heart out with Brendon small playing piano and the rest of the cast and team laughing their asses off.
I had always really liked Home Movies back in the day when I saw them in middle school/early high school, but had never seen more than a few episodes. I recently got the entire series on DVD and while several moments had me laughing, this was the one scene that had me laughing to the point of exhaustion. Just a top tier moment in television history.
This gets recommended to me a lot. I always watch it, then a week later TH-cam recommends it by another TH-camr. Then I watch that, then I get another recommendation in a week. But I love this song so much I listen to it every time. I literally have watched a different cut of this video at least once a week for about half a year now.
I did a production of ragtime not to long ago where we got an actual car in the school but when we had to back it off on one scene but it was set in forward and not neutral so we couldn't push it off like we were supposed to.
Mike Lazzo and the rest of Adult Swim are absolute idiots for not keeping Brendon Small. Can't imagine he's living a millionaire lifestyle, he has to be worth what he needs to make a show.
At the start of the episode he is vehemently against being in a musical because musicals are inherently uncool. He implied he only cared about getting his car onstage. But he really did care about giving a good performance and the play going well. I think he loves musicals and he just doesn't want to admit it.
the funniest part in hindsight is he could have just opened the door to sing
That unlocked a neuron.
that wouldn't look as cool though
Screw that...he'll race..
@@princez413 And to feel the wind on his face...
@mrcreed1256 it's broken. GLADYS!
The sad part is he nailed it...because...he felt it.
"HUH! HUH! AND I'LL RACE!"
He could've just opened the door
McGuirk poured his heart and soul into that song.
How he just walks off defeated makes this whole scene.
Another best part is how for the final number with Shannon, they use the car.
I can just imagine H. Jon Benjamin in a recording booth singing his

*singing extra loudly and extra hard because the window wont go down*
I love how actually into it he gets.
Someone: What's your favorite musical?
Me: It's complicated.
the reveal that basically no one can even hear him is so perfect
When you think about it, this is pretty damn good for an elementary-school play written by a student.
I'd watch it.
Did he write it? Earlier in the episode McGuirk seems familiar with the role when asked to play it.
It’s supposed to be Grease in the home movies universe
@@tacobob123411 and Bye Bye Birdy
@@GooseGumlizzard Thus, Bye Bye Greasy
McGuirk killed it with or without the window open. This is my jam!
without context and everything, this songs is really cool man. It touches me in forbidden places.
wh
I have it on my phone at all times.
Fell asleep with this show on ... woke up at 2 am to this song 😂 never forgot it since
I prbly havent seen this in 10 years and it just randomly got stuck in my head today.. which brings me here
I love how McGuirk still has his coaches whistle on.
The ending is the best part. It means who could have gotten out at anytime to perform his song.
ahhh-ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo RACE!
👍🏻
His lil pose is so cute!!!!
GLADYS!!!
Oh boy. What’s cookin
I like how the piano is still playing until he crashes the car
Heard this in my dream today and its been stuck in my head since
GLADYS!!!!
Brendon sliding down the other window because McGurick is inaudibly singing is, as the kids today say, a BIG MOOD.
I'll hand it to him... He rolled with the punches.
This is all I remember from Home Movies and I know it by heart.
one of the best moments in TV history

I love this song always pops in my head from time to time.
my favorite episode, just love how everyone was rushing around the whole episode
They don't make show like this anymore
Best scene in all of home movies.
Never understood why Coach didn't just open the car door!
They did, there was a soundtrack CD that came with the 4th season DVD.
its actually quite touching sad somehow
I fucking love this. I love this show! I was a little "new" when this came out❤️❤️❤️
been YEARS since I saw this episode. LOL the lyrics are exactly why I run marathons and 5ks. Song is hilarious but motivational. I miss that coach!
I wish they released a full version of the song.
Watch the credits to this episode there's a different version

We're young and foolish. He's older and wiser.

One of the Dethklok albums should have had this on it.
I remember watching this for the first time and i was on the floor laughing my butt off. It still is hilarious. :) XD X_D
this song has been in my head all day for some reason. thank you for posting this! made me happy
True poetic genius.

His complete heel turn is the best part of this episode
Classic

What vehicle is
Should have had it so you couldn’t hear him from outside the car at all.
But we need to know the lyrics you should edit it so we can't hear him
@Ro Me agreed. It would be double more funny
"I'll race" Ww2 Germany?
This show would have been totally worthless without John mcgurk
There are no cool guys in musicals
