I think it's to punctuate an important theme throughout Home Movies; how underestimated kids are. In the show Dwayne is an incredibly talented musician, but based on face value you'd just assume he's a try hard edgy teen. It really adds to his character and a big part of the show.
Maybe a petition should be started to get resolution on this. It’s cool how the gang for It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia did that full play for The Nightman. This one deserves further elaboration, too.

Brilliant! I was just watching the DVD commentary and evidently the original idea was to do a rock opera on Tron. But since the schedule was so tight, they didn't have time to deal with Disney's lawyers so they decided to go for something public domain. Jesus Christ Superstar was taken, so they went with Kafka.
Im kinda of sad I dismissed Home Movies and ignored it when I started getting into "adult" cartoons and shows, but im glad I can come back when I actually really love the deep cut jokes like Kafka and workplace "drama"
I was an enormous fan from when this show was on UPN in squigglevision. It birthed H. Jon Benjamin's career without a doubt (i mean, dr. katz, but home movies really showcases his talent). And, there is Brendon Small - who really is an outstanding comedian and musician. This is one of a TON of great Brendon small songs. I hope he makes something new. I would love a continuation of homemovies... although that is unlikely to be wise, well-received or easily inspired. i would watch, but just make SOMETHING! Metalocalypse was fantastic...
