- This is an easy tutorial on how to change your interior light bulbs. This is for the dome light and the Map lights or courtesy lights between the driver and passenger. Thank you for the close up view and simple instructions. I got bulb from Autozone in Dallas. I’m 71 years old female. Following Utube videos has allowed me to do many repairs on my 2004 Honda Accord. Original owner. Only 62K miles

I changed mine to LED bulbs in 2004 Odyssey. Highly recommended. Much brighter and long lasting.

Thank you so much Mitch Cox, the local Honda dealer told me the whole unit had to be replaced, over 100.00. Well my husband said that was probably wrong, So I binged it and found you vedio, and I was able to remove the bulbs myself.

This is fantastic. Saved us a trip back to the Honda dealer. Especially liked how you showed the close up to remove the cover on the dome light. It works great now.
Removing the light cover, which I thought would be trickier, was easier for me than ordering the right light bulb. Thanks for putting the link to the right bulb in the comments. Guess I'll try again on Monday when the right bulb arrives.

Thanks for posting this informative video. One of my bulbs recently went out, and this gave great instructions on how to replace it. I even used a Case knife that I've had for many years that appears similar to yours to pry off the cover. The whole process was really easy thanks to this video.
Thank you!!! This video made it very easy. I bought bulb at Auto Zone for 2005 Honda. I used small tool used to change out band on iwatch- just popped out sides then pulled out gently- no scratches. Finally have light after a year without it 😁

Also the direction of the bulb seems to matter but it's not clear which side is positive or negative so just try and flip it around if it doesn't work the first time
The right side light is extremely dim after replacement so I'm thinking either the connector/wire to that light is faulty or it needs a new fuse

Thank you for posting this. The solution is to remove the two lenses carefully with a screwdriver,then remove the 2 Phillips screws inside each lighting bay. then, with a flat screwdriver,push out to each side the white switches, revealing the connections.Them, with rubbing alcohol clean the connections. Reinstall as above,they should work OK.If not the switches are bad just replace those.

I went to Auto Zone and got bulbs but unfortunately they aren't allowed to replace the (first bulb) you demonstrated. Now I can replace the ceiling one too if I ever need to !!! 🎉🙏⭐

My 2015 Acura ILX does not have the same cover. If I remove the lens over the map light, the light is a square array of led's about 1in x 1in. Cant figure out how to get at these...
This worked for me. I found it a little easier if I did the pried the windshield side of the cover loose first before doing the closest side.

thanks for the video. I was able to replace the dome light-bulb of my 2002 CR-V following the video
“A man and his pocket knife.” ;) on my CR-Z there wasn’t pry points on the front and back edges. However I found the inside edge (hinge side) was easy to pop out one hinge and then the other.

Have an 09 CRV in the fleet and was wondering how to do this..thank you. Can wrap the tool edge with a thin cloth and that can help mitigate scratches.

Just wanted to add that if you find that your map light bulb(s) are still good, it may be the switches that turn the map lights on and off. Apparently this is a common problem on Honda's and Acura's. So if you put the bulb into the other side and it lights up, you know the bulb is still good. I wrote a post on how to fix the switch by cleaning it on OdyClub.com, you can see it here: www.odyclub.com/forums/52-2005-2010-odyssey/200201-map-light-interior-light-switch-not-working-right.html. Mine is post #12 by BeachbumNJ. Hope this helps someone.

If you depress and hold the light cover and take a thin screwdriver to the long side opposite the depressed side, it is easier to remove the cover than attempting to pop the short sides off as in the video. ( I actually used a paper clip that I found in the cup holder.)

Try prying the lens off from the backside after depressing it instead. That will unhook it taking the stress off of the hook.
