@@nunyabusiness8538 100% agree. I learnt the notes and chords to this section in minutes, but musically and powerfully is where you work for yourself. It feels good to play from 8:54, very emotional :)
I've got it pretty much in a flowing state where my fingers have muscle memoried it....and added the musical dynamics...it's not the most technically demanding but very lovely to play of course....
Yes, Chopin was his diving board into another realm. Hmmm. Still a very wide leap, but Scriabin somehow managed his own trajectory. Grace and power. Fury and drama. Ultimately, Scriabin.
Although they do have many similarities in musical language, the biggest difference in their mental expressiveness. Chopin likes impromptu gorgeous, Scriabin likes metaphysical thinking.
He has one of the best Vers la Flamme out there iirc. Student of Neuhaus at the Moscow Conservatory in the mid 20'th century. It's no coincidence that most of my favorite Scriabin recordings come from that school and that teacher. Neuhaus was a legendary teacher who loved Scriabin.
For me they're at opposite ends of the spectrum. They started off with very similar harmonic languages, but the writing couldn't be more different. Rachmaninov is all romanticism and drama, but Scriabin is ecstatic and other-worldly, with a dark streak which few others could invoke. Rach may have the better tunes, but Scriabin went places that Rach simply couldn't dare to. There is an odd conservatism to what Rach wrote which makes it seem as though he was too concerned about riling his friends and critics to progress as far as his talent would allow him to. Scriabin never really cared about what anyone thought about him, and veered off at the most unexpected tangent around the time he wrote the Poem of Extacy, in a way which changed the face of 20th Century music.
That moment from 3:16 to 3:32 is a punch to the gut. Emotion and energy in its purest, unfiltered form. Scriabin was such a genius it's awe inspiring

Very Chopin-esque....the early influence is very much there in his Romanticism especially number 1....it's beautiful and I'm learning it :)

Very rare smile. He wasn't known to be very cheerful, somewhat a dramatic personality.
