    Have one for about 2 years now. First bike, recent fiscal responsibilities keeping me from upgrading right now, but I'll say this: this thing will never stop teaching you. You may feel like you've outgrown it, but unless you track it regularly you won't even scratch the surface of what it can do. Don't be afraid to start on the small bikes, they can still be plenty fast; you just have to earn it :)

      Most people will never be able to fully tap out a bike. Straights is one thing but being able to on a track is much different. I love mine. Had it for 8 months and have almost 18k miles already. Modded out and they are very quick and so flickable. Next bike is going to be a ZX6 but ill keep this one. It’s a blast to ride. For me very comfortable since I’m only 5’9 at 140.

    I bought a new 2019 Ninja 400 for my first bike, absolutely loved it. I had to sell it a year ago due to needing a serious surgery....I didn't think I'd ever ride again.
    Anyway, it turns out I'm physically capable of riding now and even though I could buy anything....I am going to buy another Ninja 400.

    Had a 2018 as my first bike, and absolutely loved it. Plenty of power and great for beginners who’ve never been on a street bike. Recently upgraded to a z900 and coming of the 400 was a smooth transition. 10/10 would recommend to anyone wanting to get a low displacement bike that looks sporty.

    Nice review. I have one, and agree on all points. It is also my first street bike after riding dirtbikes. I wanted a sportbike, but lightweight more towards a dirbike than not. Another plus is, It also has a TON of aftermarket support from legit race part companies because of the MotoAmerica Junior Cup class, and because it's been out for 6 years. Kinda hard to go wrong with this one.

    This was my first bike in 2020, thought I'd trade up to something bigger once I got the hang of it. Thing is, this bike rules.
    I live in the mountains, and I see guys with their 1000's and other supersports all the time. After 3 years on the Ninja 400, I smoke them all routinely, I dont even need to go knee down to take a corner but I'm constantly passing them. I can maneuver easily in traffic, and can handle the bike in tight spaces to find great free parking.
    And dont forget the loads of amazing mod opportunities that Ive been doing over the years teaching me about how to care and work on bikes.
    Best decision I made was getting this bike, and I honestly don't think I'll sell it when I want a new bike, it's just too perfect at what it is and does.

    Proud owner of the Ninja400 for 3 years now (17,000km ~ 11,000miles) commuted daily for 2 years (now WFM) and I take it to the twisties whenever the weather allows. I've honestly thought I might outgrow it after a year but nope. Anyone that tells you a 400cc is not enough has only gone fast in a straight line. This bike is so much fun in the twisties, I struggle to think I'll let it go after I purchase a bigger bike in the future. Since I mostly just take it out now to go to the mountain roads (or small errands) I've been thinking about upgrading the shocks and break lines after which I'm sure I'll ride it til it die on me haha

    A fantastic stock bike. Even for track days, just put on some better tires + better pads and you're golden. No need to worry about going braided lines, swap suspension, etc. I have a 400 and was riding with an AMA racer in A group. Tires, pads, and rearsets (don't necessarily need these until you can really push it correctly) and we were both running around the supersports.

    I have ridden bikes for many years. And my first big bike was a 1984 Ninja 900 which i loved. But the last few years ive been buzzing around town on a little Ninja 250. Then a couple years ago i started test riding a ton of bikes. Big and small. And one bike that stood out to me was the Ninja 400. I just really liked it. But i kind of wanted a big bike again. And i was considering the new Yamaha XSR 900. But then around 4 months ago. Two weeks after testing the XSR 900. i came across a 2017 Ducati 939 Supersport like new with 2159 km on it. And i couldnt resist buying it. and i really love the bike. But then a week ago i came across a 2020 Ninja 400 like new with 288 km on it for a really good price. And i could not resist buying it. And on the way home with the bike there was a small twisty road. I had so much fun riding it home. The 939 is great on the big sweeping turns. But the small and light little Ninja 400 is so much fun on the small twisted. And great around town. So its not just for beginners. The only thing i dont like is the hard seat so even though i use it for shorter rides. I am still going to look into some softer seat options.

      To be 100% honest, I'd say it's more of a city bike but definitely has the capability to ride the highways.
      Going highway speeds (75mph, US) you can easily pass.
      So like 60% highway, 40% city.

    I have to disagree about ABS. Unless you are a competitive racer where the rules don't let you have ABS you're just postponing the inevitable wheel getting locked up and decking the bike. Rossi, Marquez, Quattraro, all these guys have locked their wheels and crashed, despite being the best of the best. Not using ABS on track is this weird ego thing.

    • @LouieMD3
      @LouieMD3 ปีที่แล้ว

      So your saying to get abs?.. new rider and want to know to get it or not

    • @VivekNa
      @VivekNa ปีที่แล้ว +10

      @@LouieMD3 Never turn off your ABS unless youre specifically training to ride on dirt on a dirt track - this is my humble opinion.
      When you can control front and rear wheel skids like a pro stunt rider, maybe you can ride non ABS in controlled environments like tracks and dirt courses.
      In any case, very few if any modern bikes come without ABS, so its not a case of "getting ABS or not" but whether you feel that irrational urge to turn it off.

      Those riders are also pushing their machines to the absolute limit. Across long sessions weekly. Not using ABS on track is not just ego. An entry level 400 bike does not have a particually sophisticated ABS settup in most cases. Some people will turn ABS to a minimum when they can but depends on the bike and it's options.

    • @smoke05s
      @smoke05s 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Definitely not ego. I raced in the AMA national endurance series back in the early 90's (and just recently got a ninja 400! simply because they are a blast to ride and hone your skills). If you have learned to ride without ABS. (your muscle memory is calibrated to brake not having ABS. . . basically at the threshold of traction/lockup or the back wheel lifting) when ABS intrudes on what you are expecting to happen it is eye opening even at low speeds. It puts you several bike lengths beyond your comfort zone as it tries to keep the back wheel down and the wheels turning. Maybe us old timers are a little more ham-fisted? . . . but not to the point where I am locking up the wheel and losing the front on a non ABS bike. I cant even remember the last time I locked up the front wheel on a non ABS bike, but EVERY time I ride an ABS bike it is eye opening for me. I made sure to get my ninja 400 without ABS because that's what I am used to. But if it does not bother you, you are braking more progressively than I am and probably have more weight on the back wheel than I do. My point is there is room for improvement in every ABS system I have tried to make them more seamless
