TAPES | Sci-Fi/Thriller Short Film

TAPES is a sci-fi/mystery/thriller short film about two friends searching for an inexplicable artifact, after finding evidence of its resting place from an old home video tape.
This capstone project is my 3rd narrative short film, and a big departure from my previous ones. It's been a couple of years so I really wanted to take it up a level for my very last university project. The number one improvement I wanted to make was to develop a stronger narrative with more characters, locations, and unpredictable turning points. This was a big challenge for myself as the script I wrote required me to shoot in difficult to access and limited light situations, along with a set of VFX tricks to complete. Luckily I compiled a great team and had a blast putting this whole thing together. I’d love to continue off of this and create a mini series but I’ll have to see where I want to take it. I was able to notice excellent camera work, editing and directing here. And this fact makes this work at least worthy of attention. I would like to see a more meaningful and complete story, at least in the continuation of this short film, if the creators have it in their plans. It would be cool.😃

Sorry, I just don't get it. Too many plot holes (the alien device, the creature with the glowing eyes) left unanswered. I sort of got the time loop, but even that was unclear.

Yes, I'm with you there. Some sort of time effect, but the tattoo number and the tape number I don't get and how that's supposed to relate to events 20 years ago.
Also your average smartphone's GPS is only accurate to a 16 ft radius so it could have been anywhere in a large area. Needed to be tied to a specific physical landmark.

Thanks for not "getting it," at least I know I'm not completely alone on understanding ALL of it. Maybe if it was longer there would be more details instead of what felt like skipped segments. ( Still enjoyed it tho...)

I don't get it either. It feels like a random collection of spooky seeming stuff impersonating a movie, hoping that if people didn't understand it, they would just assume they were too stupid to figure it out.

I liked this. It's like a demo reel for a pitch to sell a full length movie to a studio. I could see this getting fleshed out for a big screen movie. It was also cool seeing it was filmed in Hartford. I recognized the buildings and plazas. Good job
