Man, a local pizzeria had a Tron LE on location for close to a year back in 2012. The operator has since sold it, but I see it periodically in other locations. Love the challenge this game offers, as I've played it tons overall and only ever reached Portal MB once more recently. I love it.
Awesome tutorial...probably the best one yet. I'm surprised you didn't mention that each shot to gem increases the bonus multiplier. Once you've completed several modes, this can be a pretty good source of points (although probably on par with end of line jackpots).
Bowen, at the end you mentioned how you didn't make it to the Video Mode (based off snake and light cycles). Can you tell us more about this? I am unaware of this feature in the game.
Bowen, in reference to 21:38 of your remark regarding the completion of Portal, I've completed it for the Super Jackpot and so has HassanChops from Pinside, which actually has a video. BOOM!
as my son too, at the DPO 2015 in Holland ;) people having completed PORTAL are really a small club, owned the pin for 3 years at home, i've got there lots of time, but never finished it... lets add my son hi (done in an arcade at Eurodisney village in Paris) with 667M !
Those newer Sterns are just not the same feeling as Bally/Williams anymore, even though many people from WMS are working on it. Here for example the display is really more used for some random animations to play which then stop to show the (points) text, it is not as integrated as in earlier years, seems like they just used film scenes, converted it to the low dot matrix resolution and thats it. Also sound is not as good anymore. Plus this Tron Legacy does not "look" like the Tron Legacy movie that is designed with all those neon lights. It would have been possible to make the pinball use that look.
Unfortanetly true. All the fight on playfield just to complete that "DMD-movies". There is a lack of wishes to start something. Just combo everything. Everything is "jackpot" scoring small points. Williamses and Ballys was much better. How dificult was too build a good Multiball Madness in Medieval Madness pinball. These were earned jackpots. Maybe small, mabe big. Depence of how much feauters have you make before. Sterns are mostly lightshows with DMD-movies.
Fortunately, they went back to hand drawn playfields and DMD animation on the latest models. The animations on Metallica, AC DC or Ghostbusters are great. The Ghostbusters playfield is a marvel. The late Williams would also let shoot you anything and get small jackpots. Medieval Madness, Attack From Mars, Scared Stiff to name a few... The era you're talking about was the late 80s / early 90s pinball games with very precise shots that would score big. I guess it's fine to have different styles to choose from. Different fun from a different type of play.
Right! Medieval Madness has still a little bgger jackpots (I think) but still smole. Scared Stiff also. And yes, Ghostbusters is a great playfield. Metallica too. Stern is getting better!
I like this game a lot!! It has the layout of Tommy, Congo , and my favourite pinball Borg designed for Stern, which is right now TMNT!! ( Sorry all Metallica fans)
+Kyle Bowman In my case, because I hadn't talked about how to do this through the right-lane completion, I didn't allow myself to shoot it that way (at 13:04). I trapped up to talk about going for the 2x, and instead the ball bounced into SoS start. So, we talked about it later instead :)
Actually, now that I think about it, you CAN build-on and solidly light Light Cycle during Quorra. She's a winner. Add Gem. Now were talking about a nice threesome. :-)
Maybe this is a strange suggestion. But I would really like to see reviews about these games of some sort. Maybe devote a playlist on it. Say what pinball players like about the machine or what they don't like about the machine. Maybe tell them what to keep in mind when buying one. Especially with older machines. Like what parts break what can be easy replaced what not. I really think you would make a lot of people happy if you did this. And reach a wider audience. Because Tutorials are awesome and great. But the only way I could ever play one of these machines is when I buy one. And this goes for almost every European country. Because you don't see them on location any more. I mean every time Stern Releases a pinball machine. It would be great if at least somebody on youtube made a good review about that machine. It's strange to me that these machines cost a fortune. And with hundreds of videos about them. There is usually no review to be found. And since you guys have like every machine. You are the only ones that are able to do it. Please do?
Check out some of the pinball podcasts. For example, "Straight Down The Middle" gives great reviews of games. The guys are funny, their scoring is excellent (in my book), and on and on.
Where is the GEM shot at? Whenever I play it just seems to happen from a shot somewhere in the top right of the playfield, but I can't visually find it anywhere.
It's really un-understandable how you can down vote Bowen's tutorials. Pinball is a niche field, playing pinball well is super niche and playing good pinball while commentating is a field of... 1 :) so, like really, wtf.
Great video tutorial Bowen! Love the new superimposed shot arrows and markers. Kinda like the NFL does with plays. Looks great!
Great tutorial for one of the all-time best games! Thank you, Bowen, for sharing your wisdom with us. You have made me a better player.

Been playing this a lot. You crush this game like it's easy.
Thanks for posting.

What a massive score.. awesome play. I’ve seen people get to portal but never complete it.
Man, fantastic game! Great to see Portal.
The COMBO at 6:00 min was ON POINT.
Light Cycle Multiball completion (3 WAY COMBO) at 17:13. BOOM!
I believe the Light Cycle super is left ramp + Quorra + side ramp?
That game looks fun. Great tutorial.

Awesome tutorial on game play User!

I wonder why Daft Punk wasn't hired to Record music for this game? Didn't they make the movie soundtracks for Tron?

Nice tutorial. When are we going to see you show the world how you destroyed the Game of Thrones in Cambridge?
Spécial at the outline?

Songood 💪 🔥- thank you!
SOS and Portal are awesome! Try to get 2x scoring going before shooting the scoop....that's my advice.
I'm surprised that you decided to go for Quorra at 17:41 instead of going for Portal. I always tend to try to save modes for SOS 2 and/or Portal 2.
Especially Quorra MB for round 2. You can build on other modes except for LCM during her sequence, right?
Actually, now that I think about it, you CAN build-on and solidly light Light Cycle during Quorra. She's a winner. Add Gem. Now were talking about a nice threesome. :-)

Great videos
Who you callin' "Program?!" Program?!
Where is the GEM shot at? Whenever I play it just seems to happen from a shot somewhere in the top right of the playfield, but I can't visually find it anywhere.
Look at 6.50 in the video.

It is down by TH-cam itself, otherwise videos would have 1,000 to 1, 10,000 to 1 up to down votes and people would only watch _those_ videos.
Alright guys, who's gonna buy me one?
WTF?? The tilt warnings are accumulative??? Fuck me! If it wasn't hard enough!
