Agree about example pictures and sure could use google but the “wish” was that it was part of the presentation… because otherwise you could say just Google everything that he stated 🙄
Don't worry about pics because if you have thyroid nail problem you will be in pain. You go to pick something up and your nail spits and it hurts so now you have to tend to it and cut it straight which is down to the skin. You will not be able to grow any nails and have to keep them low to the skin and if you are really having off the chart thyroid test you won't be able to pick things up for pain in your fingers. I never knew how important the fingernails were till my thyroid went south. You cannot grow fingernails if you have thyroid issues affecting it and you will be in pain.
My nails have improved considerably since taking silica & collagen. I’ve had ridges for years, but after only 7 weeks they are smooth. The ridges are barely visible now & strong.
@@samantha392 I am in a group that is about thyroid problems and it is agreed that endocrinologists are just about the worst ones (I won't use the term, doctor) to go to for thyroid issues.
I always had soft brittle nails probably because of my thyroid but recently my hair started falling out and my mum recommended Biotin. I started taking Biotin 4-5 months ago and I noticed my nails are quite hard now!
I paint on my eyebrows. I realized after a shower outer 1/3 gone, a sign of thyroid. The light bulb went off with weight gain. Love to hear your supplement recommendations!
I never take a multivitamins because I found they are so low on the amount they put in the multivitamins. Its like taking nothing for some of those vitamins listed.
@@missgloria98 Neocell Super Collagen with Vit C and Biotin. My nails are super strong & very healthy hair. But my hypothyroidism made me loose almost all my eyebrows.
What about nails coming loose from the nail bed onycholysis when changing from Armour Thyroid (expensive and not covered with insurance) to Levothyroxine (free with insurance)? My T4 is high and T3 is very low normal, TSH low. Doctor lowered Levo dose and I feel sluggish and horrible, bloated. Nails brittle and breaking and also deep vertical ridge in left thumb. Has anyone had this? Help! How can you tell if Onycholysis is from high T4 or low T3?
Ridges are nothing unless your nails split when you pick something up. You know if you have thyroid nails because they are painful and hard to pick things up with your fingers and the nail will split and cause pain. And you have to tend to them keeping the nails very low on the finger even with your skin.
The only thing on my nails are on my thumb nails, a dark curved line about two weeks wide and about two months old. One nail is a normal colour on both sides of the line, the other is much lighter between the line up to the cuticle. You didn't mention dark lines?
Well. I know I'm SOL. My nails has been ridged for a decade and tears and chips frequently. I have to keep trimmed very short and take biotin to help fight my hair loss and brittle nails. Stopping before TSH tests.
I just found out that the ratio of my free T3/reverse T3 is .114. I read that .2 is the cutoff. TSH is WNL at 1.79. Free T4 is 1.2. I do not have a known thyroid issue but I got these labs because of a problems with my cognition. Can you tell me what you think about this? Thanks
I have vertical cracks that break clear through. They are thin and break quite easily. The vertical cracks get worse when I put my hands in water. Any suggestions?
It is NOT silica. “Monomethylsilanetriol (MMST, silanetriol, methylsilanetriol, methaneorthosiliconic acid, organic silica) is an organic monomeric silicon compound (Si(OH)3CH3).”
I wish you would have shown pictures of all the nails you were talking about, but thank you I'm gonna do more study

Agreed
Showing actual pictures of the abnormal nails would be very informative.

collagen interacts with thyroid meds
I have vertical lines ridges doc.. what does it mean.... !!
Me too! Very bad. For decades. They sometimes split along the vertical ridge. Especially one of them.
Hypothyroidism, had vertical lines ever since diagnosed, beautiful nails and hair previous. Endocrinologists just ignore the symptom.

me too ridges
Did you find the reason? I have the same

Be careful. Too much biotin can create/mimic thyroid problems.
Biotin did nothing for me. I never had the hair problem though just the nails.
I took too much biotin and it gave me pseudo thyroid. They thought I had a brain tumor and it was all just from taking too much biotin.
I have hypothyroidism and i have lines or ridges on my nails

Multivitamins do not work as the processing makes them ineffective. I take each vitamin individually.

I have hypothyroidism & Hashimotos-but taking collagen every day has helped IMMENSELY!
If you don't mind, what kind of brand do you take of collagen?

Thanks for the video. Have you ever seen iron overload causing a mild hypothyroidism?
Can thyroid cause skin issues, ie: psoriasis?
True but now on thyroid medication and nails still ridged 😢.

Go to doctor for dark line on nail

Hi, does the thyroid have any connection to the lanula on the nails?

Before doctors relied on blood tests, they would look at your nails and tell you to stick your tongue out.
Good morning, thank you.
It doesn't help because my groves are the opposite direction of growth
That's not true about spots and lines. Spots come and go.
😊
An excellent presentation
It’s SILICA not silicon …

Comb your hair. If you can't grow a thicker beard, shave it off.
Yeah, and what’s with the shiny/sweaty face? He looks awful lately.
That was so rude
