    As for cleaning products that I won't substitute at home, it's actually a tie:
    - Dr. Bronner's family of castile-soap products, which won't do everything, but will still do an awful lot, including some unique things like being able to brush your teeth and otherwise clean YOURSELF. Some variants (like peppermint) are even viable as a roach repellent!
    - Simple Green, which is the most spectacularly effective degreaser that I've encountered, to the point where it was introduced to me by *bicycle mechanics* as their preferred tool for cleaning chains & components.
    I might add that both products are notoriously eco-friendly, as well. Simple green says it right in their name, while Dr. Bronner's is a backpacking standard.

    We live in Nova Scotia, and have a local company “Down East Cleaning products” that make several scent free non toxic products, and we can refill our containers at a local health food store. They work well on most routinely cleaned surfaces. For example, they have an all purpose cleaner that you dilute up to 80/1, so even though you may pay a bit more up front, I find them quite cost effective for our needs.

    We have made our own cleaners for years!! Like since was a kid at home…. I am now 65. Yes a lot of years.. vinegar-Borax-alcohol-dish soap (Dawn my favorite ). Fels-Naptha , Lemon, salt, and so on. We use them like crazy. And for woods every where, Old English. Yes it is so trusted, tried and true. Saves tons of money. I will not waver on my Earth Breeze, laundry sheets and Dawn dish soap. And yes good cleaning microfiber cloths…. Mmmm Kind of like the ones you all have sold. Or, Norwex. Just my 7 1/2 cents…. Thank you for sharing!

    Been using vinegar, basking soda, peroxide, rubbing alcohol and Castile soap for so many years. The money people spend on cleaners is so unnecessary, and the cleaners are so bad for our health and the planet. Essentials oils are also so great as deodorizing added to the vinegar. Thank you!

      @@christinaderrico5159 So many things! I buy unscented and then I’ll make a shower soap with my favorite essentials oils for fragrance, hand soap at my sink, I dilute it in a spray bottle to clean counters and cabinets door. A couple drops with vinegar to wash windows. I’ve even used it on my face at times, not a lot but I have.

    I think that cool explosion is what makes people think that vinegar and baking soda is effective. It looks like it would be effective because you can visually see a reaction. It's the same reason why people assume they aren't using enough soap unless they can see a bunch of suds. I'm actually guilty of this myself. There's just something satisfying about watching (and feeling) suds pour over a dirty object.

    I absolutely agree about the laundry detergent. I’m gonna leave it up to tide to get my clothes clean lol. But I’d have to add two more products to the list and that would be Bar Keepers Friend and L.A. Totally Awesome Cleaner (totally tacky name I know lol) I refuse to give them up. I use diy cleaners for the most part but when it comes to cleaning stainless steel or pots and pans with burnt on messes you cannot beat BKF plus it’s like $2 for a can and it lasts forever. And the totally awesome cleaner from dollar tree is $1.25 and can be diluted so much so you really get the most bang for your buck and I use it on everything from laundry stains, to tree sap on my car to my range hood filter. I mean there isn’t much it can’t clean besides glass don’t use it unless you want streaks all over it lol. But if I had to recommend any cleaning products it would be those two for sure. And thank you Melissa for the video I actually learned a couple things and I know we can trust what you say and know that the info you’re passing along to us is actually fact based and not just something you made up. Hope you guys have a Happy Easter!

    I need some advice about microfiber cloths. I’ve bought and used them, and after a couple washes they become water repellent and lose their ability to absorb anything, making them super frustrating to use. I’ve heard that you’re not supposed to put them in the dryer, but is that really true? (If microfiber cant go in the dryer then it’s not very practical.) Or did I just get the cheap quality ones accidentally?

    • @tjr8176
      @tjr8176 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Are you using fabric softener either liquid or the sheets? You can’t do that with microfiber cloths because they would get coated with it and not be able absorb things. Also don’t wash microfiber cloths with anything else or they can get lint stuck in them making them not work as well.

    • @tjr8176
