- Julia Butterfly Hill climbed a 2000 year old redwood in Northern California and lived in its branches for over 2 years to save it from the chainsaws of a logging company. Her first winer she was nearly killed as a terrible storm raged through her tiny perch. Julia describes the horror, and the life lessons, of those terrifying hours.
what a beautiful human being
She is everything
Julia, the world needs more people like you! Thank you!
"The trees that try too hard to stand up strong and straight are the ones that break. The only ones that make it through are the ones that bend and flow and let it go." - Julia Butterfly Hill
She is so brave.
Just get rid of attachments and you'd be surprise how "brave" you become, if not desperate.
💚 The wisdom, the passion, the love... wow! Julia is such a beautiful soul!
So young, yet so wise
The depth of this person is unfathomable.
I used to be like her and then I got on psych meds and now life is safe. I miss myself though.
@@heidimichellemoenkhaus3569damn you fell off
@@heidimichellemoenkhaus3569sorry but you never were like her.
My girlfriends and I started a Covid 19 bookclub and this is our very first book to read together. (we have been friends for over 20 years and although we are all tree huggers by nature, I am THE TREE HUGGER. We still admire your strength, courage and tenacity to right what was WRONG. I am recommending this book to my other book club as well. I wish I would have known about this sooner, with me being a NorCal girl and all. Love to you, Julia.. As I battle ovarian cancer, I think of your fight and it gives me strength.
😊
Peace and love
This is truly amazing. She's a hero
Julia you are the real human being.
Huge respect for this woman!
We so need people with soul compassion and love like her x she's wonderful
I was infatuated with this woman. I'm afraid of heights, so I found her adventure to be exhilarating, fascinating and impressive. What a beautiful human.
one of the few people where it's so easy to see her beautiful spirit. so many are closed off, selfish, and rude.
🥲
You are amazing and beautiful, just like the trees themselves. Thank you for the inspiration.
Your lesson is so deep: "The only ones that make it through are the ones that bend and flow and let it go!"
Defenders of Stalingrad that held their defensive line and didn't buckle or flee: *lies*
I remember a huge storm, and working at a local TV station I worried about you very much. I helped my reporter climb and do one of the few local tv station videos. I knew the danger as, when a child returns to his forest and finds a few of his huge trees have come down after a storm, it makes quite an impact. Michael
She is my heroine, the person i get inspired and motivated by the most.
How have they not made a movie on this!!??? Wow!! I'm amazed at her story just wow 700+ days 💯👊😯😯😯
👍 this would be one of the greatest movies ever
they did and it was making fun of her.
That’s incredible. She has my respect
Very wise words, I also follow the same “fighting the storm” techniques that Julia talks about. But it's great that someone is voicing this. She expressed her thoughts very beautifully. And overall, she is an incredible person who commands respect and admiration
Being a tree hugger myself, this, to me, is the most impressive thing for a human to ever do, I mean truly. The act of living on a tree is a profound ordeal in any scenario. To do it for the love of nature, amidst all the politics surrounding it is truly one of the best acts ever for a human being.
I have faced numerous challenges from society for my naturalist tendencies and decisons. You give me courage and inspiration, Julia.
I wonder if she ever saw a Squatch walking by looking up, waiving, then walking away to do bigfoot stuff.
❤ Thank you so much to be who you are ❤
she is great. i remember when i was in college she was up there
Would love to see you on a TED talk. Saw you at College of the Redwoods maybe in 1999 or 2000.
I love her spiritual admiration 😊
Thank Julia 💚🌳
My Hero🦋🌲🙏🏼Everyone really should go to the forest alone and touch & hug the trees!
I absolutely love it. I am so jealous of the experience of living in and with Luna for over two years.
Awesome epiphany; it's true too, that once you surrender yourself to the ravages of nature, you're more likely to survive the tempest and come out with a greater understanding of not only yourself, but of life and death.
She is one hell of a woman
Si los gobiernos del mundo, tuvieran una pizca de valor y amor por la naturaleza, cómo lo tiene ella......el mundo sería un vergel!!! If the governments of the world had a bit of courage and love for nature, as she does...the world would be a garden!!!
why shes so beautiful? everyone who saw her couldnt help to fall inlove with her with her beauty inside out.
Authenticity is beautiful.
Julia, je ontroerd me zo...de schoonheid van jouw🥰 levenslessen...Ik hou van jou!

YOU ARE ROYALTY! 👑
Every deep crisis takes us to the point where we can see in ourselves what she saw--if we have her guts. Nine bows to Julia Butterfly Hill.
beautiful
Like most of the old hippies I once knew she moved on...Hers due to health reasons....Julia did good but you can only do so much before you pass the torch to other people..
That was great!
Pure life...

Amazing
Julia Lorraine "Butterfly" Hill(born February 18, 1974) is an American environmental activist and tax redirection advocate. She is best known for having lived in a 180-foot (55 m)-tall, roughly 1500-year-old California redwood tree for 738 days between December 10, 1997 and December 18, 1999. Hill lived in the tree, affectionately known as Luna, to prevent Pacific Lumber Company loggers from cutting it down. She is the author of the 2000 book The Legacy of Luna and co-author of One Makes the Difference.

The movie man of steel was about her.
Death is an illusion
Consciousness does not die,
the body does.

Don't look like that at me , you are making me fall in love😊
The amo
I think she forgot about her attachment to that tree lol
what a woman!
Lorax
she is crazy...
Literally how?? She was trying to stop the deforestation of ancient trees. Please tell me how that’s crazy.
She wasn’t empty. She was attached to her cause of saving a single tree to absurd lengths.
This isn’t inspiring; a truly detached person would realize the material works is an illusion and wouldn’t go out of their way to save a physical tree.
What is impressive is her willpower to do this, and that is inspiring. But her contradictory mumbling about having to be fully detached from everything to do this is absurd.
No; you have to more even more attached than the average person to care this much to save an illusion
