I wouldn't mind taking my stuff to him myself. Only thing is for me it would be more of a hassle that I don't would want to deal with. Taking time off work, finding a truck and trailer to haul my vehicle to him and making the trip from North Carolina... Then have to catch a train to get back down there to pick it up. No need to go that far, there's other places to get a good transmission, you just gotta look. Not everyone lives close to amarillo texas, could cost more than it's worth to get it there.

I guess I was lucky in that I didnt get the right transmission to start with so I didnt get the opportunity to have to repair it and get screwed by monster. A sorry excuse of a company. And they talk about giving money to charity and giving to the community. That's OUR money you idiot Acilles! People should go to jail for this but they just keep running and discrediting honest businesses like I have. I'm going down to Florida in a couple of weeks for a wedding and maybe I'll pay this idiot a visit. Aweful company and bad people. I’ve had a similar situation with this so called “company” in the past. Sent my grandfather the wrong flex plate then charged us a restocking fee to correct their mistake. Once we got the new one, we installed the transmission only to find out it was slipping horribly. Then we Removed it and took it to a transmission shop and they said it would never work how it was with the tolerances in the transmission. We had it rebuilt, removed the sticker and had the local business sell it. So please, do not buy a product from this company
Man!.. just about to fall in the trap, I have a transmission that Ford replaced it lasted 127,000 mi. Of hard core hay hauling and ect. And i almost went for a monster scam transmission. Sounds like a totally miserable and incompetent Aamco transmission shop we had in Illinois many years ago - they had your car for weeks, could never get the work done right, wouldnt back it up after they screwed it up and dodged you at every turn hoping you would just give up. Word got around pretty quick and they vanished from the scene but not before screwing dozens of paying customers and leaving with them with no transmission and no refund.
Those places are such shysters. Anymore ,it's money ahead to just throw another (new/rebuilt/reman,whatever) trans in and throw yours out. If it quit driving it's scrap inside and those places will charge every little piece to rebuild it. Haha it was a manual trans , but for a parts markup idea you can think about, I remember reading an article back in the mid 80s and someone priced out a new 4 speed for a vw rabbit from the dealer by individual pieces. It was around 10k.
You know whats funny,every one i talk to tells me that about Aamco,about 25 years ago my transmission in my little hot rod went out totally,the only place in town that sounded good to me was a Aamco close to my work so i figured i would have it towed there and get it fixed, at the time i wasn't making much money and i believe the repair bill came to about 900 dollars, i really needed the car so i asked the owner if i could pay him 750 and i would drop the other 150 later on,i never went back to pay him,25 years later the transmission still shifts like a lexus, funny... Aamcos are franchises, maybe this was a good one,lol
Ordered 8/1/24, cancelled order next morning because of reviews and F rating with BBB. Had to file CC dispute because no one from accounting/customer service has returned my calls to 8 different salesman/call center people. Going on 3 weeks now and still haven’t gotten my $5012.00 back yet 😡. I will be ordering through phoenix transmission out of Texas, they have 4.8 reviews on google and a A rating with BBB. Already talked to them and very nice and professional company
Had a customer bring one in of course he is 600 miles from home All to no avail. He told me (customer) just fix it I am tired of this crap. Well we got him going on Christmas eve. Just all together poor workmanship. Customer tried to pay I shook his hand and said have a great holiday. He said I will now his wife in tears. Was worth every dime to me to help my fellow man. I just cannot understand why he would not correct his sales issues. He is praised by some and hated my many. I later got the nicest thank you card which I proudly display. This gives us all a black eye. People already think we are crooks. We must work harder to shed this image.

Even if it worked you're better off having it built local. A good shop will talk to you first and get tons of info about the vehicle and what you have done to it, and will build the trans to suit the car. Even the good ones you buy on the internet are a one size fits all thing, doesn't take what its going into into account.

Thank you for helping me avoid a potential nightmare. After watching your video I started researching reviews from multiple sites including the BBB. The amount of negative reviews appears to be more than what you would expect to see for a company that has been operating for more than two decades. At first I thought I might discover a high percentage of frivolous negative reviews but that was not the case. I will find a local shop with a good reputation.

Sadly this isn't uncommon, a lot of less then honest shops will take them apart, fix only the broken parts and put it back together. If the bushings, clutches, etc have any life left in them, back in they go. And thats just the tip of the dishonest iceberg. Been inside a bunch of 4L65E and Dodge diesel units and found a lot of the parts that should be in there missing, swapped for the common stuff you'd find in the lesser units.
@@sparkplug1018 This was the case in my small town. The trans shop would call a rebuilt transmission one that has only the clutches replaced. Nothing else.
@@boxerfan2 I can believe it. Ive been to ones that wouldn't even go that far. There was one near me that would literally take the unit apart, replace only the broken parts and put it back together. So all the original clutches, steels, bushings, bearings, etc. So 4L60E lost 3rd, new 3-4 pack and out the door. Some real thieves out there for sure.
I sent my transmission to monster transmissions to have it rebuilt Got it back and it doesn't run properly goes in-and-out of gear slips and they want me to send it back and pay $300 to see if they can fix it And that was for my e40D I'm pretty sure ya'll can do the math Rebuild cost me almost $2000
I bought all the parts (supposedly best stuff) and rebuilt a couple transmissions myself. Having a good deal of knowledge about these things it was clear to me and easy enough to source the stuff they use anywhere, and cheaper. I had a couple questions for a tech on 4l80e mods and it was clear they were not all that knowledgable. Was not impressed.
I had a nice pretty 4l60e from them.. the converter you could tell was a different color originally and they just painted it, and I had it installed in my truck to have an immediate output shaft scrubbing my speedometer sensor, which vibrated through the driveshaft and boy was it loud. We immediately ripped it out and did a chargeback. Never heard from them again.

Ordered a Trans from them for a 98 Dodge 1500 4x4... Received the new trans a few weeks later. This was a father, son project for my sons 1st truck. Trans wouldn't shift correctly, acted as if it wouldn't release the torque converter when stopping. Big time Flares between shifts... Tow haul didn't work correct... Called them up and told them the problem... Lady said... "Well.. Are you ASE certified?!" I said No... But this is installing your product. It very simple. I've done countless of these and never had an issue. 1 quart in the converter, fill the trans to specific level, while running in "N". Foot on the brake, shift through the gears to fill valve body. Not that difficult! They asked how many miles were on it... I said.. " Ma'am, you can't drive it, less than 50! So I had to pay to send it back! Took about a week or so. The next one was fine. I asked what was the issue with the first one and the lady said..." We don't disclose our findings." Bob was nice to talk to. He and I had a great conversation about the trans and the build. But.. I'll never buy from them again. They bring up the ASE thing as if you need a degree in mechanical engineering to properly install a trans. Cost me 1800$ for an "HD" version of this trans... 300$ to send back... Lost 100$ in Royal Purple, they don't cover. Gas Monkey and these other guys are full of shit when they talk about this company. I have an Allison 1000 that I'll build myself!!! Or have Kodiak Diesel in North Prairie, WI build it.. And Im in TN!! No Monsters in my Trucks! Never again!
Same thing happened to me with that same company. Made me pay a fee to get my money back🤦. Because they said it was being built already. Mind you I asked for my money after 3 months of ordering my transmission.
FOLKS RECOMMENDING PRECISION TRANSMISSION, they DONT I repeat DONT do carry out transmissions of any kind unless you can get your vehicle to them, they do not ship at all or allow you to bring a transmission and take one home. Reasonably so, they spend so much time on their units making them right they cannot risk an improper install leading to transmission failure.
Man I sure hope something comes of your report, 2k sure is a lot to lose to a scammer parading as a legit business. Imagine how many people were ripped off by this guy that needed a transmission for their only vehicle.
I travel for pickup. Pay when merchandise is in my hand. It's worth a 4 hour trip to avoid scams. Walked right into the shop for my custom built race convertor. Black paint still tacky to the touch. Ran 12s, then put into a 10.60 car. Flawless consistent hi -stall convertor. Seller doesn't want to do it that way? Fine. Next!
Hey Charley just saw your video. I have a Cummins 3speed 727 two wheel drive transmission with about 200+ thousand miles, no issues at all, was running and driving when I took it out to put one in with a OD. swap complete very happy, however I do have that transmission. I agree 100 percent. Total JUNK. Took forever to get mine back.... then only lasted 6 months. Got sick of trying to deal with their customer service and took it to a local transmission shop. They said it was a junk rebuild.
I wish I had found this review before I got burned. At least I was able to cancel before I took delivery of mine. They will not give me a full refund. Buyer be aware if you place an order you have 24 hours to cancel or they keep %25 of your refund. The time table was taking much longer than discussed. I was not advised of this policy at the time of purchase. Not professional at all. They bounce you around and you can not talk to anyone that matters.
Monster Transmission does no upgrades as they say they do.A local transmission repair shop in my area gets them in as carry ins finding the screw ups they did and fix them right
Me too. Horrible experience with Monster Transmission. Sent me a unit that had first and reverse. The governor was bent and worn out. No way it had been tested. It took so long to arrive, it was too late to file a credit card claim. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH MONSTER TRANSMISSION !!
Was getting ready to spend 2000 bucks on a monster trans but wanted to do a little research first and I bumped into youre video . My luck is terrible so I'm not going to chance it with them. On another note you just got a little more revenge on monster trans by costing them my business..thank u

Firepunk, Dave Gorend, Precision, Randy's are all reputable builders. Not to mention several of those have the parts to make an OD trans work in ur first gen. I won't buy anything I find online that's out of Florida. Had a similar problem when shopping for a 7.3L IDM a few years ago and Florida laws make it hard to hold them accountable.. Just dispute it on ur cc and find yourself a reputable shop.
Best transmission shops I have found are small little shops I have always built my own transmissions but I am a mechanic by trade and install transmissions and engines from rebuilders most big companies quality goes out the door when I watched monster video and they said they tested trans in car I knew they were full of it should be tested on transmission Dyno and if they have all info on vehicle should not be a problem getting you the proper transmission if they couldn't get the right one it should have been a automatic refund
You're absolutely right. It isn't my trade, but I have restored about 7 cars now. Do my own work for the most part. Cotton transmission in Lagrange GA. is a very quality outfit but they couldn't find a case, which led me to the lies from Monster. They were awful. I remember the 1st guy who wouldn't answer or return my calls saying "I'm in your court. Call any time!" But I'm more disappointed in the guys on TV that promoted them just because he gave them a free transmission. Most especially Eion. The guy that has the show called Full Custom Garage. Very disappointed in him.
No way they're testing transmissions in vehicles, you're right they're full of it. It's not even possible to test all the shipped rebuilds like that... wth?... Lol.
Well they have transmission dynos and hopefully test every tranny. My experience was a long wait, a short return window for the core and waiting months for the money.
B&M transmission are just as bad,I purchased a 1996 4L60E and they send me a 1997,which is completely different and when the sent me another one it didn’t have the 1996 tail stock on it for a impala SS and it wasn’t a “k”case it was for a pick up truck,it took me over 6 months to get settled with them,but it was Mopac in Calgary,Canada (performance shop)that really fucked me over when they said “we can’t refund your money,but you get a store credit,so I spent the next year buying shit I didn’t need from these jokers,buyer beware.
They are hardly a specialty shop and if you need something custom or rare. They have several shops that build their transmissions, some good and some not so good. As with any big operation doing any amount of volume, you are going to get idiots that are just collecting a paycheck and know little if anything about the product. If you want quality, go with a factory rebuild. If they don’t have what you’re looking for find a respectable shop in your area you can work with. If they are straight shooters they will give you a long list of satisfied customers you can contact.

I was going to order parts from monster but i did some checking first, there prices were outrageous and i got a bad feeling about some of the things they said. i checked some forms and the bad things that were said about them scared me away. go with Precision Transmission in Amarillo Texas. Richard &Trent are great people.
This is Charley Norton, the guy that did this video. I never heard from the fbi IC3. I forewarned Monster I would spread the word and from all these comments, I think we all lost him (Achilles) a lot more money than he took from us. My family has been in business since 1976 (2nd generation) in a county of 26000 people. We have lasted this long simply by being honest and fair. I will never be as rich as the Monster guy, but I know when I walk in the house every night that I did my best and trained men to do their best. I don't think these guys know what a rush it is to be the best that they can be and have pride in their work. I bet his turnover is a nightmare. Our guys have been with us for decades (most of them).
@@charleynorton1390 that's the thing now days, people in business dont understand that there are shops al over the place. its all about taking care of your customers. i worked for a small diesel engine shop,the owner of that company had such a good reputation that people all over the US would buy parts from him. they would even send engines to us by fright. i have built engines that were sent to us from Africa. like i say it take 30 years to build a reputation and 30 days to totally destroy it. another thing i noticed about monster is all the automotive shows use to use them, now no one is using them. did you ever get your money back? im really sorry this happened to you. you should give Precision Transmission a call, he may have a core and will treat you right.

bestbuy trans out of florida are awesome have bought several from them for different vehicles have never had 1 problem with them and they have 5 year 100.000 mile warranty and there dyno tested before they ship them out aesome prices just a great honest company
You must have a poor cc bank to not be able to handle this problem. After a reasonable time turn it over to your cc company. If MT jerks enough people around the big cc can deny them accepting that card because they will not honor it due to vendor problems. In addition the vendor has a lot of paper work to do to defend their poor business practices with the cc companies card holder.
I use Chase and they're good. I just gave Monster too much time in Hope's they would do the right thing. They didnt. I'm too trusting. Don't make my mistake

This really sucks that you went through all that just looking to get a quality product from a reputable company... It appears that money, or rather spending the money to get what you wanted wasn’t an issue and I am the same way... I would highly recommend a company named TCI for anything and everything transmission or transmission related.. I have used them many times and actually use only them exclusively now... One vehicle has an 800hp/ 777ftlb 496ci BBC and the turbo 400 I mounted to it operates just as killer as the day I installed... That was about 50k miles ago and all I’ve ever done is change the fluid and filter/ flush the cooler lines.... They can build you anything you need/want, and they have quite the selection in stock as well... so be been dealing with them directly for over 20yrs... You can also find everything from TCI at summit racing.... I would call and talk to a person though instead of just ordering online as they don’t list everything they have, but they do have everything 👍👍
I was seriously thinking of buying a 700R4 for my 1990 Suburban from them... I decided to have the original one rebuilt by a local shop close to where I live just so if something went wrong, I could see them face to face... Not sure about your area but there are several near where I live in Alabama. Best and oldest transmission place is Cottons Transmission in Lagrange Ga. They have done excellent work for me for many years. Monster was just to get things done a little faster
A friend of mine bought an AOD off them and it did not work right. He asked me to see what was wrong, had to pull it and tear it apart. had used parts in it and was not built like it should have been. That's been about 4 years ago. Still working fine after I built it. :(
No need to put a transmission in a vehicle to test it, they just put them on a dyno. If they don't, they either don't have one or just don't do it. Hard to get quality anything anymore, too many take short cuts. Rebuilds that are done right isn't cheap. Best if you don't rebuild your own is to get it done locally, or buy already rebuilt locally.

I sent my transmission to monster transmissions to have it rebuilt Got it back and it doesn't run properly goes in-and-out of gear slips and they want me to send it back and pay $300 to see if they can fix it And that was for my e40D I'm pretty sure ya'll can do the math Rebuild cost me almost $2000
I bought all the parts (supposedly best stuff) and rebuilt a couple transmissions myself. Having a good deal of knowledge about these things it was clear to me and easy enough to source the stuff they use anywhere, and cheaper. I had a couple questions for a tech on 4l80e mods and it was clear they were not all that knowledgable. Was not impressed.
I had the same problem with them. Called them every week for 6 weeks and I got a new story every week. I will not do business with them again.
I had a nice pretty 4l60e from them.. the converter you could tell was a different color originally and they just painted it, and I had it installed in my truck to have an immediate output shaft scrubbing my speedometer sensor, which vibrated through the driveshaft and boy was it loud. We immediately ripped it out and did a chargeback. Never heard from them again.
💯 correct. I also have had a bad experience with Achilles. Was impressed at first by his professional image and softly spoken. After dealing with him over a year I seen his true colors. Beware
I feel your pain brother. They got away with $1,500 of my money. I have to go to small claims court. How much will this crap company cost me in wasted time and lawyer fees?

Ordered a Trans from them for a 98 Dodge 1500 4x4... Received the new trans a few weeks later.
This was a father, son project for my sons 1st truck.
Trans wouldn't shift correctly, acted as if it wouldn't release the torque converter when stopping. Big time Flares between shifts... Tow haul didn't work correct...
Called them up and told them the problem... Lady said... "Well.. Are you ASE certified?!"
I said No... But this is installing your product. It very simple. I've done countless of these and never had an issue.
1 quart in the converter, fill the trans to specific level, while running in "N".
Foot on the brake, shift through the gears to fill valve body.
Not that difficult!
They asked how many miles were on it... I said.. " Ma'am, you can't drive it, less than 50!
So I had to pay to send it back!
Took about a week or so.
The next one was fine.
I asked what was the issue with the first one and the lady said..." We don't disclose our findings."
Bob was nice to talk to. He and I had a great conversation about the trans and the build.
But.. I'll never buy from them again.
They bring up the ASE thing as if you need a degree in mechanical engineering to properly install a trans. Cost me 1800$ for an "HD" version of this trans... 300$ to send back... Lost 100$ in Royal Purple, they don't cover.
Gas Monkey and these other guys are full of shit when they talk about this company.

FOLKS RECOMMENDING PRECISION TRANSMISSION, they DONT I repeat DONT do carry out transmissions of any kind unless you can get your vehicle to them, they do not ship at all or allow you to bring a transmission and take one home. Reasonably so, they spend so much time on their units making them right they cannot risk an improper install leading to transmission failure.
I would rather be pulled with a chain from New York to Amarillo rather than getting fisted by Monster.

I travel for pickup. Pay when merchandise is in my hand. It's worth a 4 hour trip to avoid scams. Walked right into the shop for my custom built race convertor. Black paint still tacky to the touch. Ran 12s, then put into a 10.60 car. Flawless consistent hi -stall convertor.
Seller doesn't want to do it that way? Fine. Next!

I have a Cummins 3speed 727 two wheel drive transmission with about 200+ thousand miles, no issues at all, was running and driving when I took it out to put one in with a OD. swap complete very happy, however I do have that transmission. I was unaware that they are hard to find. anyway I am in Portland, OR. Thanks for your video that shows the internet in its finest. Great Video

Up in jersey , I have a dakota rt and she was slipping , I saw monster and called and the vibe on the phone I hung up went on google , based off of Yelp I I couldn’t go to monster , . I found victor dean in Mount Holly , and he did me solid and I’d go back again .

I agree 100 percent. Total JUNK. Took forever to get mine back.... then only lasted 6 months. Got sick of trying to deal with their customer service and took it to a local transmission shop. They said it was a junk rebuild.
I wish I had found this review before I got burned. At least I was able to cancel before I took delivery of mine. They will not give me a full refund. Buyer be aware if you place an order you have 24 hours to cancel or they keep %25 of your refund. The time table was taking much longer than discussed. I was not advised of this policy at the time of purchase. Not professional at all. They bounce you around and you can not talk to anyone that matters.

I've read too many bad testimonials on Monster Transmission.
Monster Transmission does no upgrades as they say they do.A local transmission repair shop in my area gets them in as carry ins finding the screw ups they did and fix them right
Find a reputable high dollar local transmission shop and maybe even get a warranty along with it. You get what you pay for.
This sounds like an edge case. They test the transmissions on a dyno.

Sent me a unit that had first and reverse. The governor was bent and worn out. No way it had been tested.

I use FTI Transmissions .
Firepunk, Dave Gorend, Precision, Randy's are all reputable builders. Not to mention several of those have the parts to make an OD trans work in ur first gen.
I won't buy anything I find online that's out of Florida. Had a similar problem when shopping for a 7.3L IDM a few years ago and Florida laws make it hard to hold them accountable..
Just dispute it on ur cc and find yourself a reputable shop.

Best transmission shops I have found are small little shops I have always built my own transmissions but I am a mechanic by trade and install transmissions and engines from rebuilders most big companies quality goes out the door when I watched monster video and they said they tested trans in car I knew they were full of it should be tested on transmission Dyno and if they have all info on vehicle should not be a problem getting you the proper transmission if they couldn't get the right one it should have been a automatic refund
You're absolutely right. It isn't my trade, but I have restored about 7 cars now. Do my own work for the most part. Cotton transmission in Lagrange GA. is a very quality outfit but they couldn't find a case, which led me to the lies from Monster. They were awful. I remember the 1st guy who wouldn't answer or return my calls saying "I'm in your court. Call any time!" But I'm more disappointed in the guys on TV that promoted them just because he gave them a free transmission. Most especially Eion. The guy that has the show called Full Custom Garage. Very disappointed in him.
No way they're testing transmissions in vehicles, you're right they're full of it. It's not even possible to test all the shipped rebuilds like that... wth?... Lol.
Well they have transmission dynos and hopefully test every tranny. My experience was a long wait, a short return window for the core and waiting months for the money.

B&M transmission are just as bad,I purchased a 1996 4L60E and they send me a 1997,which is completely different and when the sent me another one it didn’t have the 1996 tail stock on it for a impala SS and it wasn’t a “k”case it was for a pick up truck,it took me over 6 months to get settled with them,but it was Mopac in Calgary,Canada (performance shop)that really fucked me over when they said “we can’t refund your money,but you get a store credit,so I spent the next year buying shit I didn’t need from these jokers,buyer beware.

They are hardly a specialty shop and if you need something custom or rare. They have several shops that build their transmissions, some good and some not so good. As with any big operation doing any amount of volume, you are going to get idiots that are just collecting a paycheck and know little if anything about the product. If you want quality, go with a factory rebuild. If they don’t have what you’re looking for find a respectable shop in your area you can work with. If they are straight shooters they will give you a long list of satisfied customers you can contact.

I was going to order parts from monster but i did some checking first, there prices were outrageous and i got a bad feeling about some of the things they said. i checked some forms and the bad things that were said about them scared me away.

I forewarned Monster I would spread the word and from all these comments, I think we all lost him (Achilles) a lot more money than he took from us. My family has been in business since 1976 (2nd generation) in a county of 26000 people. We have lasted this long simply by being honest and fair. I will never be as rich as the Monster guy, but I know when I walk in the house every night that I did my best and trained men to do their best. I don't think these guys know what a rush it is to be the best that they can be and have pride in their work. I bet his turnover is a nightmare. Our guys have been with us for decades (most of them).
@@charleynorton1390 that's the thing now days, people in business dont understand that there are shops al over the place. its all about taking care of your customers. i worked for a small diesel engine shop,the owner of that company had such a good reputation that people all over the US would buy parts from him. they would even send engines to us by fright. i have built engines that were sent to us from Africa. like i say it take 30 years to build a reputation and 30 days to totally destroy it. another thing i noticed about monster is all the automotive shows use to use them, now no one is using them. did you ever get your money back?

bestbuy trans out of florida are awesome have bought several from them for different vehicles have never had 1 problem with them and they have 5 year 100.000 mile warranty and there dyno tested before they ship them out aesome prices just a great honest company

You must have a poor cc bank to not be able to handle this problem.
After a reasonable time turn it over to your cc company.
If MT jerks enough people around the big cc can deny them accepting that card because they will not honor it due to vendor problems.
In addition the vendor has a lot of paper work to do to defend their poor business practices with the cc companies card holder.
I use Chase and they're good. I just gave Monster too much time in Hope's they would do the right thing. They didnt. I'm too trusting. Don't make my mistake
You are totally right and I should have gone that route quicker than I did. I just pulled on faith of business ethics and was wrong with these guys. Still got my money in the end. Hope others won't follow my path and realize we have good people local that can help in an honest way

Monster transmission didn't eat your shift and it just gave up the ghost well it was probably built on a Wednesday maybe even a Friday or possibly a Monday with a hangover
This really sucks that you went through all that just looking to get a quality product from a reputable company... It appears that money, or rather spending the money to get what you wanted wasn’t an issue and I am the same way... I would highly recommend a company named TCI for anything and everything transmission or transmission related.. I have used them many times and actually use only them exclusively now... One vehicle has an 800hp/ 777ftlb 496ci BBC and the turbo 400 I mounted to it operates just as killer as the day I installed... That was about 50k miles ago and all I’ve ever done is change the fluid and filter/ flush the cooler lines.... They can build you anything you need/want, and they have quite the selection in stock as well... so be been dealing with them directly for over 20yrs... You can also find everything from TCI at summit racing.... I would call and talk to a person though instead of just ordering online as they don’t list everything they have, but they do have everything 👍👍

I was seriously thinking of buying a 700R4 for my 1990 Suburban from them... I decided to have the original one rebuilt by a local shop close to where I live just so if something went wrong, I could see them face to face... Boy am I glad I did not buy from Monster Transmission. Sorry to hear of your experience and thanks for making the video.

Not sure about your area but there are several near where I live in Alabama. Best and oldest transmission place is Cottons Transmission in Lagrange Ga. They have done excellent work for me for many years. Monster was just to get things done a little faster

A friend of mine bought an AOD off them and it did not work right. He asked me to see what was wrong, had to pull it and tear it apart. had used parts in it and was not built like it should have been. That's been about 4 years ago. Still working fine after I built it. :(
No need to put a transmission in a vehicle to test it, they just put them on a dyno. If they don't, they either don't have one or just don't do it. Hard to get quality anything anymore, too many take short cuts. Rebuilds that are done right isn't cheap. Best if you don't rebuild your own is to get it done locally, or buy already rebuilt locally.
Very true...my monster transmission is junk..ordered it took forever to get it & finally received it..total junk..had a local company (CARCO) pull it apart & I have a video recorded of tear down..junk..junk..junk..
