    Man, Sabonis would have been a legend in the NBA if he played in his freaking prime, the dude was an AMAZING passer for a big man.

    Sabas! Greatest draft pick in Blazers history. Still great, even past his prime.

      @@haffy03 I know I take a bunch of flack for saying Sabonis, but he was the 25th pick of the draft and, even at an advanced age, gave the Trail Blazers the stability that we needed in the middle. Walton was a number one pick and sort of a "of course we're taking Walton" choice. No surprises, while Drexler was also an amazing steal of a pick and one of my favorite players of all time. And yes, Lillard has quickly climbed the list of amazing Trail Blazers "steal" picks. Cheers!

      @@redfanrod those are all good points. Petrovic could've been a star in Portland. I wonder if the organization and coaching staff regret their decision to trade him after a short stint as a Blazer. Truly insane. When you think about it Portland's draft bust's might be the worst in the history of the NBA. Along with rising stars having short careers as a Blazer. I'm glad we have a 🏆 but this organization has really been through a lot of heartaches. Some good times can be found for sure but a lot of letdowns.

    Had this man been born in the US or at least was allowed to leave for US in his youth we may be talking about goat status amongst the bigs.

    • @T-roc57
      @T-roc57 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe even the goat period...his knees & achilles were destroyed plus back problems by the time he got to the nba, and still played very well.

      Watching just what little footage of him there was in his prime, that's enough for me to say he's the best ever...he was huge but fast & nimble, flawless footwork & passing, good d, could shoot from anywhere and had a very high basketball iq.

    This was also the end of the Blazers as we knew them always being in the postseason since the late 1970's when Bill Walton first won the NBA title with them. I dont think Portland ever missed the postseason from the time Bill Walton won the NBA title with Portland until this 2003 postseason.
    After this 2003 postseason, Portland wont be in the postseason until the 2009 playoffs

      @Justas.Gaizutis 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Quite the opposite: Jail Blazers era started when Wittsit became GM (1994) and Sabas' 1at season was 1995/96. In general, Sabas playing years perfectly matched Jail Blazers era (despite having nothing to do with off-court antics).
