Nice find! I've got a Para USA GI Expert ESP in 45 that I've had a couple years. My first 1911 in fact. Yes, it's a series 80, but it does have one sweet ass trigger. Several hundred rounds of anything and it eats it. So glad I found it. Got it at a Scheels in their used section.
Beautiful 1911, I'm not into "Full black" handguns, but this and the Sig in the previous video are the few exceptions.

Yeah, it stinks what happened to Para Ordnance. I have a Canadian P16-40 I used for USPSA and 3-gun. I have had to replace the barrel (barrel split during a competition), recoil spring, had a trigger job done, had the trigger shortened since I have big palms and short fingers, and at some point I'll have the barrel reamed to 10mm, since I have an SVI for USPSA Limited now.

So a couple of weeks ago, I decided take a chance with a double stack 45 acp para HI CAP originally coated in FDE and I guess these were limited editions that signified various military regiments, and were supposedly only available for veterans? Mine signifies the 27th wolfhounds, it says made in Canada on the bottom of the frame, but it also says FT Lauderdale Florida on the right side of the frame? I haven’t been able to identify location of manufacturing or whether or not it was produced under freedom group?
I believe those guns were made in Canada prior to freedom group acquisition or at the very least were made before the factory was moved from Ontario to North Carolina. The FT Lauderdale mark is just the import mark. Those guns were made by para in collaboration with a military charity and they were offered for purchase to the men of their respective units during or after deployment as a souvenir/keepsake. Very nice guns, I'd rather have one than a colt m45 honestly although I know paras aren't worth as much. One thing to keep your eye out for is if your gun has a large "X" on the left side of the slide. This denotes it has an extra power extractor which in my experience tend to wear out quicker. EGW makes a normal extractor that will fit the Para extra power extractor channel and I rec switching to that when your original extractor starts to wear out. Enjoy your Canadian Para ordnance and good shooting.
I bought a Para a few weeks back and don’t have a clue what I have. The hard case says Black OPS LTD but the slide just says OPS. The barrel is stainless but not black. The left side of frame says Pineville NC. Serial is P238XXX. Any idea manufacture date and I guess it’s a Black OPS?
Nice history lesson on P/O. Have a Warthog 3.5 inches in 45acp. Had it for 12 years now. Purchsed a new BBR in 45acp same barrel length.
