    Johnny Sins doing chest workout ✌

    Hello,
    I have been weightlifting for 5 months (push/abs/pull/abs/legs/abs) and now I moved to bodyweight training because my workouts took me too much time (up to 3 hrs. at push/pull days) and also I was getting injuries pretty often.
    Now my schedule is Full body/abs/F. bdy./abs./f. bdy./abs.
    My full body programs seem to take also a lot of time (2-2,5 hrs. including the warm up)
    It is made of :
    -Squats (40/20/20) with half of them with 14 kg. and the other half with 28 kg. to make the exercise harder
    -Calf raises (25/15/10) + 14 kg.
    -Pull-ups + Chin-ups (10/10/5 of each) + 5 kg.
    -Back extensions (30/20/10)
    -Push-ups (35/35/30) + 5 kg.
    -Bar hold (1:00/0:30/0:30) + 5 kg.
    3 circuits (x/y/z reps)
    I have some questions :
    Am I overtraining? If yes how can I adjust my programs? I am 14, do I do too much for that age?
    Thank you!

      I don't know what your goal is but to me your training program is from another planet. 2-3 hours workout? Mine takes less than 30 minutes, sometimes it's just 20 minutes, including warm up. I train for strength and I do high (almost max) intensity/low reps. Like one leg squats or one arm pull ups. I think what you do is just exhausting you body. Doing more doesn't mean you'll get more results. If you've experienced frequent injuries already it's clear sign you are doing too much. I recommend reading two books about bodyweight training: 'Convict Condtioning' by Wade and 'Naked Warrior' by Tatsouline (not sure about the author's names). It's better to train slow and for the whole life with good health than doing it fast hoping for fast results and ending up with ruined health and pain for the rest of your life. Good luck.

    I do bench presses then this workout afterwards. Excellent.
    I also like to spice it up like
    1A Mountain climbers for 1 minute (1 set)
    2A BB Bench press 4 sets of (6-8 reps)
    3A Wide push up (4 sets x 15 reps)
    3B Normal Push up (4 sets x 15 reps)
    3C Narrow push up (4 sets x 15 reps)
    4A Elevated Push up (4 sets of 15 reps)
    4B Inclune DB Press (4 sets of 12-15 reps)
    5A Decline push up (4 sets of 15 reps)
    5B Cable cross-over (4 sets of 12-15 reps)
    I like a hybrid training.

    Hi, can you give any calisthenic exercises to even out chest? My right chest is more defined compared to my left one. I've been doing calisthenics for over 8 months now. Hope you could reply.

    • @MinusTheGym
      @MinusTheGym  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Try focusing on unilateral movements to balance out these issues in calisthenics. So in your example with the chest, you’d want to focus on one-arm push up progressions, but modify them to make them easier. Doing one arm push ups against a wall or high surface (like a counter top) can help. By doing unilateral movements you can make sure you’re working both sides evenly. Make sure to use strict form and do the same number of reps per side.

      @@MinusTheGym should I only do one variation of push up to even out my chest? I've been doing standard, inclined and declined before noticing my chest being uneven. I tried doing uneven pushups by using stacked books and it seems doable. What I can't do for now is 1 arm pushups. Should I stick to uneven push ups or even beginner level 1 arm push ups until I manage to even out my chest? Hope you could reply to this last question of mine. Thank you!

    • @MinusTheGym
      @MinusTheGym  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Luxither if you're doing the full body circuit routine, I'd recommend sticking with that until you feel ready to start branching off into a split routine and then try this workout. This chest workout is designed for split training, like Push/Pull/Legs or Upper/Lower body, where each day gets a specific muscle group or movement focus.

    I JUST TURNED 70 IN DECEMBER AND JUST GOT OUT OF THE HOSPITAL AND REHABILITATION I DON ‘T HAVE GYM EQUIPMENT SO I’M LOOKING FOR ALTERNATIVES TO BUILD UP MY CHEST PECS AND TO GET RID OF THE TIRE AROUND MY WAIST COULD YOU DIRECT ME TO THE VIDS YOU MADE THAT WILL ASSIST ME ? IWAS HOSPITALIZED FOR 3 MONTHS AND MOST OF MY MUSCLES HAVE LOST DEFINITION AND WEAK . THANK YOU !

    • @MinusTheGym
      @MinusTheGym  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The exercises in this video can certainly help you build the chest, and you’ll want to increase your intake of raw fruits and vegetables to get rid of the spare tire. You can never have too much fruits and veggies, trust me. Replace other not-so-healthy calories with the fruit and veg. And don’t worry about protein. It’s a scam. You don’t need nearly as much as they say.

    Good motivation for beginners but, can you explain me how wide push ups work your biceps? If anything they are supposed to work the triceps (you are extending your elbow).

    • @MinusTheGym
      @MinusTheGym  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Master Chief the biceps are a dynamic stabilizer during the movement, meaning they're activating at both ends - the shoulder joint and elbow joint - to help stabilize the joints throughout the exercise. They're not a primary mover, but they still work pretty hard during those wide pushups.

    • @MinusTheGym
      @MinusTheGym  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sang Xü Maybe leave a little gas in the tank then and don't go completely until failure. You might surprise yourself, though. The different hand placements combined with the 5-10 seconds rest between exercises might allow you to squeeze out some extra reps.

      Wondering Lion Nah man, you'll look studly. If you're losing your hair, my advice is to embrace/accept it and put all your attention on taking care of your health (exercise, eat right, meditate). There's no sense in trying to prevent what's in your DNA. But your confidence - which matters most, btw - can be maintained and strengthened, even without hair on your head.
