A very interesting multi-purpose tool. I used to think it looked bad, judging it against other axes and hatchets. But now I realize this item is more of a billhook machete and the "axe" part is just a bonus. The cut-out, which can fit hydrants and oxygen tanks, is another bonus. The sheath was a nice bonus too, and it even included a little sharpening stone. So, overall, this is a pretty useful little item for a mere $17.
Check out my Marbles Parang Review: • New $13 Marbles Parang...
I am glad that this is still in production
Yeah it is pretty useful for clearing brush.
@@WeAllJuggleKnives i wish it was available here in my country :( i want to get it along with the Bowie machete plus the is amazingly affordable.... I am actually half tempted to make my own
I have one and its always with me when I hit the woods, I keep every edge sharp and have never had an issue with it. I consider it one of my best pieces of gear I love it that much.
I got to get one of these.
I've been impressed with the nylon sheaths on all of the Marbles machetes. Tough, lightweight, dries easily and they have those great pockets.
If people were wondering what the odd shaped hole is for, it is a combination of a hydrant wrench (pentagonal) and a gas shut off valve tool (rectangle).
Hence the "Fireman's Axe"
The sheath is very well made. It has high quality nylon, heavy double stitching and rivets. They even included a decent sharpening stone.
It is, I've since acquired sheaths for all of my Marbles blades (this one, the shovel, parang, and tiger stripe machete).
I appreciate your work brother. Keep these reviews coming, they are truly invaluable.
Been using one of these for about two years now, I'm officially declaring it to be a great tool, I go all season camping and it has never failed me, I've used it for everything from cutting up kindling and fire wood, right up to making shelters and clearing small (6 inch diameter) trees out of trails, the only drawback I've found is that unlike an axe there is no pole to use as a hammer for driving stakes and such, but I can make a mallet with it and use that instead.

I hope I never loose my Marbles!
Initially I thought this was just a goofy looking axe but after your demo I'm quite intrigued by this budget tool. I may consider buying one in the near future because it seems very versatile from brush clearing to medium duty wood chopping.
Glad you like it now!
Thanks for sharing. That thing looks like a nasty Zombie tool ;-)
I use mine a ton. Great camp tool. Even used it to crack the pelvis on a deer and as for skinning. It looks crappy but really performs
You sold me on the Vaughan half hatchet, almost cut my toe off with it. Great hatchet though!
the hook part is also great for vines. In the SW US we have bull nettle that you don't want to try to cut with a straight edge.
I bought one these and they are great however I would NOT baton on the handle end, that will eventual crack the the handle. Use the bill hook edge near the the handle.
couldn't you baton with the straight part of kuma machete with the axe part pointing upwards?
Best axe design so far and its cheap. Great tool!
Interesting design--how would you compare this to a Woodsman's Pal? They seem to be in the same category to me. Thanks for all the great videos.
Very Nice! I just put This and the new Devils Tails Shovel by Marbles on order
I watched the shovel video also. You answered a question that I’ve always had About the thickness of these tools. As usual you also confirmed the fact that you’re a dangerous guy, LOL. Thanks for the videos. The 893
Excellent, I like their newest machete in this line, the Brush Devil, based on a classic Japanese design.
Been interested in this piece of gear. Thanks for the review.
fast little tool. really useful, especially for that kinda money-
very nice review
what steel do they use?
I like it- great review and baton tip too!
I think this is an ideal combat weapon or self defense weapon. Very deadly!
The fireman's axe is actually a pennato with a pretty useless (if you are not a fireman) hole in the blade (you usually don't want to remove weight from the tip of a chopping blade).
The usefullness of the inward curved blade in a boreal forest is that of "entrapping" the twigs when you are clearing bushes and branches. Boreal vegetation is dry and woody, not easily cut with a slashing motion like rainforest's one, so the outward curved tip of machetes often only displace it.
Hi, Israel, boy you gave me an idea, I would love to see this axe compared to a Condor Wilderness Tool, both are very similar in design, nice to see you, its been a long time, and I really enjoy your vids.
Ag, this is the one. Yeah, I always wished you did a face-off between your Marble and my Wilderness Tool, , ,
That inward curve could also be called a bush hook or brush hook.
Great test. Very informative. Thanks.
Nice video :) And that multitool is just a great piece of blade here. I mean 17$ Is nowhere near a price I would expect for something like that, that's a great bargain. I gotta one question, I consider buying ka-bar swabbie, I've seen reviews for that and it's crazy. What are your thoughts on that? Thanks and take care man :)
If it speaks to you, you have to go for it!
That's a mean Zambie weapon with that billhook
It resembles an "Serpe universelle " or "Roncola " or for that matter an Yorkshire Billhook. But the pricing is good even if it might be a little lighter.
And the hook is great as a pickaroon for keeping your hands clean and dry!
I think fire mans hatchet is a more fitting a name for this, but a neat tool def!
Please Israel I'm still waiting, c'mon face off the Condor Wilderness Tool to this Marbles Fireman's Hatchet, both are similar in size and there really isn't a whole lot of video's on the Wilderness Tool I think it's a good tool but I would like a comparison on the two, Please ?
@WeAllJuggleKnives How about the Marbles Devils Tail ?!
did you mean kama instead of kuma? ive never heard of a kuma
Cuma, like these www.machetespecialists.com/im24cumawiin.html
I've been curious about this one.
BTW, Kabar swabbie is a great tool!
Review the trucker's friend tool.
Lots of tools are marketed as “fireman’s” this or that. You have to think if you’ve ever seen a professional firefighter carry one, or talk to a professional firefighter and ask them what they carry.
*Note that I said “professional” firefighter (as in, full-time paid), and not volunteer firefighter.
Hi Israel, this is the video I was looking for, and blip blap blam here it is, please, and you have to do a face off between this Hatchet and the Condor Wilderness Tool, similar everything, and there is hardly any video's on the Wilderness Tool, I have it and at 1lbs. I find it a good camp/wilderness tool that can be use in many applications, ei. knife, hatchet, etc. Also in the ballpark maybe not so much I also have the Woodsman Pal, it's a little bigger, and it was used by the military, think about it Please Israel.
Would be powerful. If they made the spine thicker
IMHO this would make a epic self defence weapon, (light & fast) AND a great thrower !
the axe part did ok but as far as the machete section you were basically breaking the lil twig not cutting. also machetes you don't want that surf area machetes cut efficiently hitting an item at an angle not perpendicular. and that hook has way too much of a steep angle to be efficient as a cutting edge that pushes your hand in a natural slice motion.
+SaintedFox The back part is supposed to be like a brush axe or bill hook but there's not much to use it on in winter
I like it :3
I like it
nifty tool playboy
Holly shitttt bro this is bad ass weapon hehehe like it
or hawkbill machete
I think it would be perfect if it was about 3 inches longer and like 1/16 inch thicker.
BADA$$!
marbles for 17.00 ? oml !!
ditch the useless hydrant hole in the blade!!!
Yeah, they went a little overboard with the fireman theme.
nice
nasty
Ontario spax16
bomba
i don't like it, i see your hand slipping right up on that blade and cutting you up. plus you can't choke up on the ax head blade for fine controled cutting
its a damn hatchet
looks so worthless but man! what a great tool. and probably still under 50 euros (yea they are ripping us off here…) 'me likes' +1
couchcamper If you live in Europe you can buy billhooks in Italy, France, Switzerland, England, Belgium, Germany, Portogal,...Yorkshire Billhook, Serpe Universelle, Pennato etc. Go to a garden shop...Or order online. Without hook you got the Serpe Bernoise, Serpe du Nord or the light English Riving Iron. This double edged with hook is a scout knife/tool in Italy so they are awailable in a smaller version for that reason "Pennatino "
I use mine a ton. Great camp tool. Even used it to crack the pelvis on a deer and as for skinning. It looks crappy but really performs
