    Total opposite for me. Wegovy didn’t work. Everyone is different. It’s been 6 months and I didn’t want to lose too fast. I remember when you went through your depression after leaving your sister’s I’m so happy to see you smiling and feeling better. I’m happy Wegovy is working for you!!! You look amazing by the way!! When I saw you I smiled. Keep up the good work!
    My update:
    Started Mounjaro April 2023 and I have lost close to 50lbs. I’m not diabetic. My max dose is 7.5mg. Was 230 now I’m 180. I’m scheduled for a tummy tuck and some lipo in February and prayerfully I can stop taking the meds. I don’t want to lose anymore I just need my stomach out of the way!!!!!! Please continue to share your journey and Tx you!

    This is a great perspective!! I'm so glad the switch improved your mental health and suppressed the food noise again! For the general audience, I want people to realize that weight tends to fall off faster at the beginning of a weight loss journey and stalls or not loosing as fast as your were can be normal so don't be too hard on yourselves.

      Absolutely!! The hard part for me was that it suddenly dropped off when I changed instead of a gradual taper. It was a shock to my system. I'm not good at being nice to myself, however. ❤️

    Hi Mindy. I'm on Mounjaro for A1c purposes, but I've also lost 25 lbs, although not nearly as much as you did. Still, the weight loss was not easy. I've had to lift weights and follow a strict diet, so no Mounjaro is not a magic pill. That's what the Mounjaro trials showed -- that people only lost weight if the injections were accompanied by diet and exercise (i.e., lifestyle changes). Let's face it, even with these GLP-1 / GIP medications, creating and sustaining a calorie deficit over a long period of time is still darned hard.

    I take Mounjaro for diabetes. Although my weight loss hasn’t been as great as other people have seen, l am happy that it is steady and my sugar levels and cholesterol have greatly improved. I am also exercising more and making an effort not to lose muscle. I follow a high protein/high fiber/low carb diet. As long as my health is improving, I’m happy.

    Such a great perspective and it really goes to show that we are all so different in how these medications work in each of our bodies. Really comes down to finding what works best for you and sticking with that. I appreciate how you presented and stepped through the 3 things that were your experience and that it may not be the same for everyone.
    For me personally, I responded better to Mounjaro, lost 20'ish pounds with Mounjaro, had to switch to Wegovy in July and really haven't lost more than a few lbs since (even on the 2.4mg where I'm at now) - BUT - Wegovy has allowed me to maintain the weight loss which is also a big win in my book as well. I also noticed I had much stronger "fullness" cues with Mounjaro vs. Wegovy. I'm hoping that first quarter of CY 2024 my insurance will pick up Zepbound so that I can give that another go to get the needle moving again.
    Thanks again for putting this out there, always love your videos and perspective! :)

      I use Mounjaro for my T2D so I was far more focused on gaining control over my skyrocketing glucose levels (A1c... etc) and was actually pretty clueless about GLP medications (I read books rarely watch TV) I was losing my life to diabetes while trying to "self-regulate" using Metformin plus living on a strict keto diet. Mounjaro changed everything for me. After many months I finally titrated up to 7.5 mg and I'll be surprised if I ever have to go to a higher dosage to maintain control of my T2D.
      I think that it's probably a mistake to race through the lower injection dosages to get up to the really high doses. It definitely would be if you based your wellness on blood glucose monitor readings (like I do) and rarely step on a scale. Within 4 months on Mounjaro 5 mg I'd lost over 40 lbs. The only reason that I went to 7.5 is because by the 5th or 6th day after my weekly 5 mg injection my morning glucose reading would be higher and unstable. Now it's a bit low the first couple days and perfect the rest of the week. 🙏🏼🪄✨️💖

    Great video and glad you're feeling more like yourself back on Wegovy! We are all so different, and I know a lot of people do better on Mounjaro, but there are still quite a few that do better with Ozempic/Wegovy. I also notice a lot more people saying the appetite suppression they have with Semaglutide is better than the other GLP-1 drugs, even if they also say they lose more on Mounjaro. I don't have any depression on Mounjaro, but the food noise did return (though not at full force). I hope that future generations of these meds will be better at keeping the food noise at bay on a more permanent basis.

    Hi Mindy! I found your channel because I need to learn to love Wegovy as much as you do! I started Mounjaro on 7/13/2023 and lost 43lbs in 4 months. Max dose 7.5 but I was paying out of pocket for it. Well insurance finally approved me in Nov but for WEGOVY! That's when I found you... I was reluctant to take the 2.4mg pen prescribed by my PCP as so many talk about the side effects. I had zero on Mounjaro. I broke the dose to ease my into Wegovy and unfortunately have gained 6lbs back! Its really frustrating me because I want Wegovy to work but Mounjaro was better. A friend of mine has convinced me to raise the dose and I took 1.25 on Thursday. With Zofran I feel fine and now have some appetite suppression. I was going to trend on up to the 2.4mg quickly for more weightloss but heard you say that's what you regretted. No where to go after that. So I am now back at a standstill in my thoughts. Lol. I have a 6month PA so to 2.4 or stay at half of 1.2 and increase, that's my dilemma. My doctor left it up to me given I did so well on Mounjaro. He said both dose are therapeutic and its based on how I feel. Help me love it because all I keep thinking about is Mounjaro. Did you have anxiety switching meds? I was thinking to jump ship, go back to the familiar by inquiring if insurance will approve Zepbound but some friends that had success on Ozempic are saying Wegovy is good and that I should focus on fat loss instead of weight loss. Perhaps Semaglutide is slower on the scale but the inches are real changing the body? What was your experience in regard to inches vs.pounds? Thanks for your help and reading all of this. ❤

    • @mindypweightloss
      @mindypweightloss  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Hey Amanda,
      In general, I just lose better on Wegovy, but that's just me. Everyone is so different. If Mounjaro worked better for you and Zepbound is covered by your insurance, there's no reason you shouldn't try that!
      The most important thing with all of this is to just be patient. It takes time, and these changes are for life with or without the meds. Consistency is key so as long as you stick with it the weight loss will come eventually.

    Mindy, you made the argument that EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT. Congratulations on your weight loss and your continued journey. It's good that you compared the two. I on compounded tirzepatide right now and like semaglutide, I am gaining and losing the same 5 pounds over and over for the past 3 months. I'm on 10mg and next Saturday, will titrate up to 12.5mg. then to 15. I walk a 1/2 mile a day to work. That's all of the exercise I'm doing, aside from household chores. I'm a little disappointed that I haven't lost more weight, but I'm not giving up. Since Zepbound is off of the shortage list, VA is able to prescribe it for me now. We'll see.

    I have watched so many videos when i wanted to know why my symtoms was different to other peoples but one thing i felt when trying out so many different kinds of these meds was depression and it wasn't the regular type of depression and it concerned me because i didn't know where the sudden drepression feelings came from ,when i didn't lose as much as i hoped it got to me and it made me feel unhappy even tho i have lost a lot of weight previous to this sudden no loss ,then i came accross a women on tictok speaking about her experience about this type of meds and she spoke about her experience about depression she got from being on these meds ,they are the hidden symtoms that no one really focuses on until they feel it ,so i appreciate you speaking about it in your video it will open lot of peoples eyes and to be more aware when being on it and if they notice a change in their mood and can't explain why they need to speak to their doctors about it ❤

    The real truth is… clinical trial results are *averages.* And on *average,* yeah, ppl in general lose more weight on Mounjaro than on Wegovy.
    But *individuals* are all *different,* and can and do respond differently to various meds.

    Hi Mindy, I've been dropping in on some of your earlier videos to get a feel of what Wegovy can achieve and side effects etc. I've recently been put on Wegovy for a number of reasons, mainly due to being pre-diabetic. I have insulin resistant PCOS, had gestational diabetes back in 2019 and really struggle with my weight. My daughter is neurodiverse and requires constant watching so my exercise choices are extremely limited around what I can do around her. I've just had my 4th shot of the 0.25 dose and apart from a bit of a boost in the first week, the last 2 weeks I've barely lost anything. I am cutting carbs and have been using some slim fast for keeping calorie count down or for easy breakfasts. Did you find the weightloss increases as the dose increases? I've a target to lose 33lbs in 3 months otherwise I could get taken off of it again. It's a large amount to lose in a short space of time, especially with 2 weeks of plateau... Feeling a bit down and would appreciate some insight if the increase in dose will kick start it and increase effects... With love from the UK. XxxX

    • @mindypweightloss
      @mindypweightloss  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Hi Faye,
      0.25mg is considered a loading dose, and many people don't see significant weight loss until the higher doses. It's crazy to me that your insurance would require such significant weight loss in such a short period of time... medically sustainable weight loss is considered to be 0.5-2lbs per week... have you used a TDEE calculator to determine what kind of caloric intake you should be getting? My primary concern is that in your haste to try and lose fast, you may not be eating enough, and that can also stall weight loss. My video from last week went into how to use the TDEE calculator, so I would start there if you haven't already. ❤️

    Just started Zepbound. Had VSG 9 years ago. Lost 80, but as predicted, gained back 35 over the years. Note I never got to goal weight of 175 lbs. My weight-loss stopped at 204. (Down from 283.)
    Zepbound, after 6 weeks I’ve lost 10 lbs. slow but sure. Food noise is greatly diminished (as it was post VSG surgery for the first nine months or so when the volume began to slowly creep up).
    That’s the relief for me. Less neurotic and obsessive about eating (“what? when?how?”). And I do feel quite full very quickly.
    As far as side effects, sleep is a bit disturbed but there’s a lot going on in my life right now.
    What’s my longterm plan? I don’t know. Formalize an activity/exercise plan. Maybe WW points. In January, I stopped eating meat (90% of the time I refrain) and now focus on Mediterranean-style eating. Some bread and cheese, some butter and milk in my coffee. This was to get my cholesterol down.. it dropped 20 pts since last year, so that’s a plus.
    Anyway, that’s my story.
    Sorry to ramble so, but it’s actually been helpful for me to revisit all of this.

    Love the new format! I also enjoyed the old one, but this was so fun, following you around while you got ready etc, instead of a static talking head. And super cute boi in the background was very distracting (in a good way) 😂
    I have a question about protein. It seems pretty clear that eating more protein is helping you and I don’t necessarily disagree per se with using high protein, both nutritionally and to help with weight loss. Personally I feel better with more! However, in my own research, there were some sources that claimed that you cannot absorb more than X amount of protein in one meal. I think it was 20-30g. I am curious to hear the other side of the argument and wondered if you might share about what convinced you otherwise.
    Also I will reflect back again that the switch flipping is between Wegovy and Mounjaro is apparent in your videos. It’s like a cloud of gloom and fuzz just blew away. Poof!
    It is so awesome of you to share your experiences. I know I went looking specifically for someone authentically sharing their experience of being on these drugs, and I stopped when I got to you. 😘

The next dose I used my last 2.5 n went to the Doctor n said NO to the 5.0 n got back on 2.5. Doing fine n losing weight. I had dropped 21 lbs in 6 was. So the journey continues. Slow is fine! Heart n diabetes n getting healthier is moving slow n steady.

    I wish you would have posted some links to where you got your research. I feel as if I “know” you Mindy and I clearly see a difference in you now vs. then, but I also know it isn’t like you to make generalizations and present them as facts. The other thing I wanted to mention is, when you talk about how many weeks you were on Mounjaro and how much weight you lost, I also know you had several “breaks” when you took vacations and/or had an off week or so and did not take your medication, and ended up gaining weight as you didn’t follow your eating habits at that time either. Regardless, I am happy for you and you clearly are in a much better headspace, with your new job and being able to take Wegovy now!

      Hey lady,
      Regarding the depression and mood changes, they are listed side effects of the medication... just not ones many people discuss. The diminishing positive side effects have been spoken about by a few different doctors here on TH-cam, including Dr Mike. My NP has told me that's why she encourages taking time with titration. It's a typical reaction to adapting to the meds over time. (Which I guess I should have mentioned in the video, but my brain just didn't go there when I was recording) ❤️

  • @Reeeeeeeeeena89
    @Reeeeeeeeeena89 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    I appreciate your perspective. It's definitely important to note that as you mentioned that
    I started with Mounjaro in Oct 2022 and lost 25 pounds. I switched to Wegovy in Jan 2023 and since then I have only lost an addition 15 lbs. I have had no side effects, and as Wegovy has helped me to maintain, but I'm not losing.
    I'm personally so excited to get to Zepbound next month as my insurance requires the same PA as Wegovy so I should have no problem getting approved.
    I just wanted to share this to make it clear (as you did) that some people will not have any issues on one med while they did have problems with another.

    Hi Mindy, First off let me say I really love your video's. I have been on a semaglutide (.25) for only two weeks. Tomorrow will be my third injection. My DR. only wanted me to take the .25 for two weeks and then go to ,50 for two weeks. In my head I was thinking that was to fast although I didn't know why. . I'm so glad I watched you and now I'm kinda scared. I almost always fallow my DR's orders. but he has steered me wrong on diets before. So with that being said could you explain a little more why titrating up slower was best for (you) ? Thank you so much.

    • @mindypweightloss
      @mindypweightloss  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I actually didn't titrate slowly. I used the recommended titration schedule of going up every 4 weeks. I wish I had gone slower because I was still losing on the lower doses, and once you get to the highest dose and start to build up a tolerance, there's nowhere to go to.
      Many people are in a rush to reach the highest doses because trial results showed the most weight loss there, but IMO the long term benefits of taking it slow if you have a lot of weight to lose far outweigh any benefit of going straight to the highest dose. ❤️
      Also... if you don't agree with the advice your doctor is giving you there is NOTHING wrong with finding another doctor.

    I have lost 105 pounds on Mounjaro in a year. I have to say it’s not easy. I also joined a gym and do yoga and water aerobic 3 days a week. I went from a size 22 to a size 10. I don’t deny myself food that I love I just have to limit them and a small amounts. I will agree with the side effects that she is talking about but I was depressed about my weight most of my adult life. I know the hard part is going to start soon as I have 15 pounds to go to reach my goal. Keeping the weight off is going to be hard. I also go to a weight management doctor so I am being monitored so that is a good thing. I have now been able to get off my blood pressure meds and cholesterol meds… a definite plus. Thanks for sharing your journey and your experience with different types of these medications. I am wondering, however, if your slower weight loss when you switched to Mounjaro was in part due to (a) the natural decline in pace of weightloss as weight decreases, and (b) your exercise leading to increased muscle (muscle is mass and mass has weight).

    Mindy this video hits home with me tonight I have pretty much lost a year of my life being sick now my NP absolutely is not up to par on any of these meds. Too long to say at first she just said it may help with weight loss and she thought I should try well in the meantime I went to my kidney dr. He wanted me on Jardiance so she started it then up the doses plus tip the doses of Monjaro so even at low doses I was well like I had flu for months. So I took myself off the jardiance and cut down my insulin intake slowly. I was taking 85 Treshiba at that time. You don’t hafta b a dr to know something is wrong when it’s your body so cut back insulin a lil more and she knew it but I took it down to 20! So then oh and I also wear a Libre’ sensor so I could keep track of my numbers. Was so weak I had falls a couple times. I want my life back so I was no quitter ( I just turned 70 in October) I never saw anyone my age on it when I caught the u tube videos of people taking or drs talking about them. So I said after all this time I will not quit I’ve gone too far and only 30 lbs lost. So I barely made through 12.5 then the 15 came!! I was depressed my family was worried my daughter begged me to get off , I explained to her I never gave up on anything in my life I was a cosmetologist for around 45 years I worked hard and I wanted whatever time I had to enjoy. So I told her my plan I was so depressed I knew I was going to be in trouble if I didn’t. So I emailed her twice about the meds and going down so she sends me more of the 12.5!! I took 1 and was down I mean I couldn’t go to kitchen or living room without hanging on the walls. This passed Tuesday I had an appointment so and had taken my last shot the Monday before. I tried my best to make it I don’t have anyone to drive so I was in a panic attack just getting to her office which is 5 miles? Well bu the time she came in after her nurse saw what shape I was in , she began to freak out they were taking my BP heart etc. she brought me a coke and said to drink some. That and the questions started and I told her what it was doing and I was given the offer to stop and said I haven’t done much more than get outa bed now for about March and no I m not gona quit now I told her I wanted to try the 7.5 she said 10! I said no I wanna try well she knows so much about this drug that she was saying she would give me a lower dose but didn’t think there was a 7.5.!!!! I kno more about this drug than she does!! Scary’ but she went along wit and also cut my BO meds in half which since my A1 C is good my # are down which means Monitor my meds!! And also told me go down 5 more on insulin and finally admitted she wanted me off it which we had words over taking it before I started I didn’t want to. Then that’s the first thing the kidney guy told me. That’s where the jardiance came into play’ it woulda kick ur butt by itself I don’t know how I’ve made it but whether my big bday or holidays coming up and I’ve lost a couple very close friends the depression works itself in. So I’m ready and set to move on with this . But I’m not taking the 7.5 shot until after Xmas not telling her . I felt so bad today I can’t clean house no decorations up and my daughter took off so we could have a day at her house which means driving well first just getting dressed!! Lol it seems like no one understands and I’m sick of trying to explain . I’m just some old fat ( lazy woman) looking for sympathy. , or that’s pretty much what some think’ and I have worked circles and took care of that man for years and I’m tired of it no respect. So that’s my story and it’s like ur the only one that’s not trying to make money or just loose 15 lbs for the holidays! I appreciate you I’m glad it’s out and so glad for those who’s journeys have helped the decision I’ve made. So far There are no good drs in my area of a small town in Ky. That’s why , I don’t feel like going to another NP that knows next to nothing about what she’s dishing out ok here comes the anger! 😂 Thank H you Mindy and Ty for being patient enough if you read all this. ♥️🙏🏻 I admire you keep up the good work!!

I ended up in the ER the day after Christmas with acute Colitis and dehydration because even drinking water caused my stomach to cramp up. I have RA and Hashimotos Thyroiditis. I recently found out that they have done no studies of Autoimmune patients with Mounjaro. I lost 20 lbs. In 6 weeks but that's because the drug forced me on a starvation diet with vomiting and diarrhea. Take at you own risk because they are post-marketing people as guinea pig on these high weekly doses. I read that mounjaro lowers absorption of fat in the liver in some studies so I thought best to try it first. Of course unless I have bad side affects I will stick to it. I know losing weight and being in a lower BMI will help too and just overall my health needs to get better.
      Thank you so much about the comment about my cat. Honestly when I found out his heart had gotten worse (I knew he had a heart disorder) I cried and grieved his loss even before he was gone. He was so such a beautiful soul and no loss has ever affected me like losing him. I mostly just feel sad for him for having had a short life and so much of it on meds. It does make me feel guilty for taking my health for granted and any issues I have is reversible still and due my own lifestyle. I will miss him for the rest of my life. He passed over a month ago and I knew I couldn’t start a weight loss until I was mentally better and ready. So it’s time. I hope I see his beautiful face again one day.

    Crazy how these are. I will say that I am diabetic. So weight loss for me is less. Mounjaro is a drug you must titrate slowly to get benefits. I did try wegovy when the coupon ran out because my insurance covers it. I could eat more food, got hungrier but the side-effects were way worse. The dr said semuglutide has more side effects. I do think my body liked it, but my blood sugars were still high. Then my insurance covered Mounjaro. While my side effects are less. I barely want to eat, or even drink now. In fact the doctor ordered 15 and I titrated back down to 12.5. I had zero desire to eat or cook! I go to boot camp 5 to 6 days a week and had zero desire to eat. So on 12.5 I eat, get hungry but talking to doctor because appetite suppression after two months is very very strong. I don't want to even drink. I get full very quickly. My dietician has me just focusing on protein. I get about 130 grams a day. I think seeing a glp 1 dietician helps. I am torn because Mounjaro is helping my blood sugars, but greatly suppressing my appetite even after a year on it. And trust me, it will make me regret eating fried anything lol.
    Wegovy I lost weight faster and could eat more, but the side effects were terrible. Then I stalled two months on it. But I was recovering from major surgery, so the dietician thinks it was that.
    I do think Mounjaro is meant to titrate slowly. My doctor was adamant of three months on 5, three months on 7.5, three on 10.
    We will see next steps. My insurance covers both now, however the Mounjaro coupon ends 1231. I rather pay a low copay. I could still get Wegovy at 25. Waiting on zepbound to be added, so I can get it at 25.
    Decisions lol. But I also think you are right. Mounjaro is not meant to titrate fast. It works well slowly dosing up.

      Thanks for sharing your experience, Moni! It helps everyone so much to hear different perspectives. I appreciate you! ❤️
      It definitely is crazy how different we all are. Aside from constipation (which is nowhere near as severe as it was on MJ for me) I have zero noticeable side effects on Wegovy. I know I'm in the minority there based on the trial data... but I just really wanted people to know that trial data isn't everything, and just because the "media monster" says MJ is the absolute best doesn't necessarily mean it is for everyone. ❤️

    This is a question I never hear about. Asking all that are on any of the weight loss injection pens. How are you disposing the empty cartridges? I just started Mounjaro 2 weeks ago and I threw the first 2 cartridges in the garbage since there is no recycling stamp on the pen. I recently purchased a bio-hazard waste basket and matching bags. Like anything else in this money infused world, hopefully the internet has some free options out there.

    I was on mounjara for 10 months and got up to 15 and only lost 13 pounds. Now my dr says the insurance will not approve it so she will not be prescribing it anymore. She put me on phentermine, been on it for 2 weeks and hoping it will work.

    • @mindypweightloss
      @mindypweightloss  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I'm sorry to hear that. Have you checked to see if Wegovy is covered? It could be another option for you.

    • @SabrinaGarcia-n6b
      @SabrinaGarcia-n6b 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No, I did not, as she firmly stated that insurance was denying them all. I wanted to change to ozempic. My Dr. said she'd have her nurse look into it with the insurance and got a follow-up saying it was a no.

    • @mindypweightloss
      @mindypweightloss  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @user-mn8vh3mu7t does your insurance require pre authorizations or just not cover them at all? The reason I ask is because most doctors are terrible at getting PAs approved... for some reason there are specific doctors that specialize in them, and many people have found that they have to switch doctors just to get their GLP-1s covered.

    • @SabrinaGarcia-n6b
      @SabrinaGarcia-n6b 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, bcbc requires pre authorization. Which they approved it all last year at zero out of pocket. then I got a letter in the mail at the end of the year saying that those prescription s would not be covered this year.

    • @mindypweightloss
      @mindypweightloss  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Did they say that your PA had been revoked or that the meds had been removed from the formulary? Prior Authorizations are overturned all the time for seemingly no reason whatsoever and would just require another submission (probably by someone who can navigate them better than your PCP) If they changed their formulary there's really not a lot to do except look into compounding and continue to watch and hope that they add the meds back to formulary.
      Are you T2D or just using for weight loss? I ask because both Mounjaro and Ozempic are FDA approved for Diabetes and it would make sense that your insurance would deny those if you are not diabetic.

    Good personal analysis which as you realize can’t apply to everyone.
    Lost 50lbs in MJ in 10 months and A1C when from 6.3 to constant 5.2 with no physical activity nor special diet. Also no particular side effects.
    Great however there are 2 things I just found out:
    1. Last couple of months cravings slowly come back
    2. Without any certainty yet my lab test results showed an increase of both RBC and WBC! Before MJ always normal after starting 3 months after my MJ journey progressively increases. Passed 2 tests or 6 months HIGH! Can’t blame MJ yet but MJ is the only think different between now and then… Coincidence? I don’t know for sure but my appt with Blood specialist might help clarify this.
