Microtransactions are horrible. People don't even play with anybody below a 89 ovr most of the time. The community is super toxic and it makes me want to not get my little brother the game. He loves 2k and the NBA but I don't want him to get cussed out by some grown ass man in gamechat because he can't make everyshot and doesn't understand a 2:3 zone
The Hamburglar's Son Cheeseburglar fax. If you have no one to play with and some 13 year old hops on and decides to be Kobe and shoot everytime you pass them the ball, you’re going to get frustrated eventually.
I bailed out of 2K last year. I bailed out of COD and Battlefield last year. I bailed out of Madden and Assassin's Creed last year. Annual releases need to die
President C4 ac had to skip a year because of how bad it got but nothing wrong with liking it... and battlefield produces a game once a year so it is pretty much annual, if not it’s really close
One of the things that still gets me is it tries to say it's adding realism... Yet a pair of shoes in-game can be 10,000VC and you earn 2,000VC per game. What NBA player has to play five games to afford a pair of shoes?
Maaann I remember that. You had to grind in the draft combine and then you had to prove yourself in the Summer League or you’d get sent to the D-League. That’s back when 2K used to actually put time and effort into their product.
Julian Q true. I was just referencing how simple the career mode used to be without all the extra Hollywood cutscenes. And grinding to become a somewhat decent player wasn’t nearly as difficult
My 2k17 Mycareer Center maxed at 95 and I put his attributes on a created player and it was an 87. It's not even worth it anymore. No way in hell I'll pay to become an 87
There are near game breaking glitches still in the game almost 4 months after launch, but the second a helpful glitch comes out (the badge glitch) 2k patches it within 24 hours. The company is an absolute joke.
Lil Samurai they’re is an update every week on fortnite😂 doing dumb shit and then putting it back and then taking it out again😂 wdym thats not fortnite at all?😂
The same ppl that complain about 2K are the same ppl that buy it year after year. If you want the game to improve, boycott by not buying it. 2K speaks only one language: money. It's the only way the game will ever improve.
no its not the people who play it because if i use myself as an example i have spent 500$ on the game because i understand what im doing i spend the money so i can play with anything i want but i also put in hundreds of hours in to 2k the people that complain are people that are lazy and dont want to grind and thats ok but thats what play now and my league is for people that are lazy and dont want to grind
FlareUnityy wow so that's the mindset of your avg park pro that's sad. People aren't lazy because they don't want to be on 2k all day they got shit 2 nobody time to griind badges then grind rep and cap breakers. All that grinding for what? Lol
I don’t mind grinding if everyone else had to do the same. First day on the park seeing 89 overall when I’m a 60 isn’t cool. VC should be for cosmetics only not skill points.
That, or you just can't pay for VC and you have to grind for it yourself. You would assume going out of college or being a standout player you wouldn't be so trash you are benched every game and only have like 8 mins play time just to whiff easy shots and get blocked every play lol
Exactly, no game should include vc for progression. MT's are killing gaming. 2K publishes Borderlands, so me and my boys are all nervous about BL3 having MT's. Hopefully Gearbox wont allow that.
kid frescah it’s both. Open your eyes. Terrible UI, micro transactions are continually getting worse and worse each year, the community is trash, the fixes don’t make sense. 2k is a waste of both time and effort. Improvements to gameplay exist. They fail most simple things
Have you seen you can’t even make custom playbooks on myteam? Or the noise that lasts longer than life after you win on certain modes. Just 2 issues of MANY
TShorty929 I agree with all of this. No doubt. But imagine if the community was better. Personally, it'd make a trash game more bearable for me because we can have fun roasting it
Yeah 95% Of the community looks for a way to exploit the game with dribble cheese and all that shit. If people just played normal ball it wouldn't be near as bad
And all the people who don’t play madden anymore say “at least 2k makes a solid game” like boi 2k has been trash since 2k17 and 2k18 just confirmed my thoughts with the micro transactions
Madden has many of the same problems as 2k. The gameplay and modes in Madden are just significantly worse than that of 2k. Both suffer from micro transactions though, 2k more so but MUT is still an issue. I’m a franchise/my gm guy, so it’s really only the game play and modes that affect me
The GenErik Show true, I don’t play online much in most sports games because ultimate team is a cash grab so I wait until they are on sale for like 10 dollars
1 huge problem is that the real hoopers, the ppl that actually played ball and have basketball knowledge and smarts can't compete with a game that allows exploits and cheese's. These "new" or "fanboy" gamers on 2k make it hella gay to try to play smart basketball because of cheats and 3's all day. It's made for Grandma to pick up and play and have fun. I'm trying to ball like real life but sadly this new wave of pulling up 3's from half court and and1 dribbles have flooded the real hoopers out and it just makes it not fun to play when all you gotta do exploit this and exploit that. It's super weak. That's my opinion.
Examples: the Pokemon franchise, Grand theft auto, Legend of Zelda, and Marvel. There's more, but I don't want to type them. If you were just joking, my bad.
I’m guilty...I bought the game...paid my way up to a 87 .....and that’s where the fun stopped....the actual Single player portion of the game only resembles online play in as much as putting the ball in the goal after that it’s total difficult unless you’re a 90+ overall. When I was an 89 I stood around on the park waiting for a pickup game for a literal hour. People would come by, check my stats and walk away. I would have been better off being a 65 rank. In the rec mode people would come in and see I was a new player and back out. At first seeing this, I didn’t think much of it until I realized the only way to back out is to quit the game to the dash board and load all the way back to the mypark which is 3 load screens away. Or if you do get lucky and get into a rec game, people will treat you like your invisible. No ball passing no attempt to let you try as long as they get the ball. “I’ve played with guys who will dump the ball on a 67 rank only when they’ve wrecked the score gone cold and being quadruple teamed. The 67 will shoot only 1 time in 17 of 20 minutes and most of the higher ranks will quit.
REGALITY4LIFE it is...it’s one of those things you’d wish the devs would fix or you could sit down with them and have a serious conversation with them about. But unfortunately it’s not marketable. It doesn’t make money so ti them it doesn’t make since. I compare this game series and a few others to cell phone markets. New slightly different phone every year...and the VC credits are the App Store...
Thats why you gotta get a crew bro if yall suck suck together its still fun people hate playing with randoms cause they usually dont pass the only reason i play 2k is cause i can play with my friends i dont find it fun otherwise and im a 93
OG77013 See that’s the thing. I realized that too. People don’t pass the ball so I countered that argument. I created a Center at 7’ 3” 287Lbs rebounding defender. The guy can’t score if his hand was in the basket....this forced me to rely on others to score....but I see so much one man ball game anyway. I played a few hours ago and the score was literally 116-56 our side. I scored six points... there was a shooting guard that scored 89 points. I didn’t pass to him much. But that didn’t stop him from acting like Russel Westbrook. That’s the type play I hate to see...I’m a guy that love to see the ball move....people in motion etc. Not one man hogging the glory....saying I should play with a squad is like saying I should play fallout 76 with friends as the only way to enjoy this game. Even if I were alone...the enjoyment should come regardless of who I play with...and we can all agree the Gatorade gym and stand sux tbh
@@Edub271 but the game cant fix that people are gonna ball hog and i do agree but thats the problem with an online game where you have to rely on other humans lol in cod id someone sucks your team just loses your stats wont be effected but everyone has a gun vs 1 ball
It's more like competition. I don't know any Brads or Chads, but I do know many people who like basketball and want to play a video game, so they get the ONLY one on the market, which allows 2k to money grab.
Super Heat just meant to say that a good percentage of people that buy these games are only purchasing sports game and don’t really know any better if the games shit or not
for me personally, the reasons why the game is trash revolves around the shooting exploits. 2k logic says 35 foot 3 point attempts are easier to make than layups. sharps and stretches regularly go 10/13 from 3 in jordan rec. the 3 point shooting is so overpowered, I have a pure point fwd and a shot creating slasher at the 3 and it's like my main skills don't matter. I can't pass like a god because for whatever reason 2k has delayed passing so there's always a pause and the quick on the fly reads always deliver the ball late or are intercepted because of the bullshit passing lane cheese. as a slasher I regularly score 20 with all points being scored at the rim yet I only leave with 2 free throw attempts but as soon as a sharp hits the lane they get the call every time. shits just not on a even playing field. also as a slasher I regularly get my shit blocked because I expect I'm gonna do a standing dunk after I catch a outlet pass on the break but instead I get weak ass layup animations where you lean back into the people behind you for a easy block. outside of those things the problems I have are that the fucking game only works sometimes. with rec games it always freezes at the jordan sign or has a nigga on the opposite team wearing your teams colored jersey. and also it's the players who play the game, they're either trash as fuck or cheesy. get shooters taking every shot they see and pulling up bullshit in traffic because they swear they're open or you run up against teams who play 5 out and screen you to death setting triple screens at the top where the sharp at the one can just dance around back and forth and eventually pull from 35 and it's wet 90% of the time. shit like that is just annoying, 2k doesn't reward smart basketball, only the hacky shit gets you wins
B49ify its not overpowered. they are fucking sharpshooters. Their three point rating is in the high 90's at max. Just play good defense and they can't do much. playmaking sharps, do the same thing. except when they start trynna brake ankles take a step back. and your problems with fouls probably come from that you are actually not trying to draw a foul. you are part shot creator, so just do a eurostep or get a good layup package like john wall or monta ellis and do those to draw more fouls. that also explains your problem with layup animations. Next time stop complaining, and acutally try to solve problems instead of saying something is wrong with the game.
@@UndefeatedZoe he does make a valid point though. Certain things he mentioned such as pass delay, screens, ridiculous 35 foot jumpers off the dribble are asinine. While you posed a valid counter argument, he still had some valid points too.
I personally think they should just ditch this OP badge system completely and force people to play actual basketball, instead of trying to exploit the game for badges.
I couldn't agree more. 2k logic is: 3 pointers with a hand in your face is easier to hit then a wide open layup. I been playing a center, and the amount of wide open lays I miss is honestly laughable.. but then you have guys running around the 3 and shooting it infront of defenders and going like 8/10 from the field. I feel like that's the biggest problem. Although there are many.
@@hazegocrazy404 and what makes you any better they are telling the truth but you won't believe it you sucked 2k so much that you don't understand what a good game is
@@grossla8053 you start at a 60, and if you hit a 95 overall you get to start your next guy at an 89, buy you still have to buy the vc to upgrade from 60 to 89,
It's just the title. The game is released in 2018 not 2019. Do research first you uneducated gamer. Well I cant blame you, I guess you're just not a hardcore gamer like I am
I almost didn’t buy 2k19 myself but i got it from BB for $2.19 so I figured I would give it shot. Got bored with it after weeks of trying to reach a 90 rating. Still like live better.
A lot of people skip over nba 2k they just dont talk about this thanks for covering this because NBA 2k youtubers try and hype up the game because that is how they make their money but the truth needs to be said
@balling jamal Sitting through a wreck of a first season where you could only play 8 games and couldn't play in the playoffs? HAVING to play through the high school and college, even though it was too easy and you got NO VC for it? The mode was literally deemed "It's YOUR Story", yet you had NO control over your player. Literally, you had no control over whether your player gets to stay in college or leave for the NBA, whether you dump or not the super-annoying Vic (hated that guy). I will give Spike Lee props for an AMAZING ending to the "Livin' the Dream", but overall he made it a movie, not a game. YOU had no control over your career, and frankly, you should, because it's a game, not a movie.
Yeah it’s a shame. I feel no matter how much gamers complain. These companies are making too much money from these practices to care about our complaints 😪
NotoriousLank, idk NBA lives makes nothing nowadays and they havent made any changes to there gameplay in years. Honestly play a old live game and the mechanics feel nearly identical to the newer games.
Daren McMillian Thing is theres the part of the community that “complains” and there is the other part of the community who exploits all these glitches and cheese so they think everything is fine with the game.
2k has been dead. Sports games should be released every few years not every year. It should be patched and offer DLC that offers new rosters animations and features or modes. But greed gives us the likes of 2k, madden, COD etc. Th funny part is their greedy tactics push players away from spending money and if they did the right thing like rockstar does theyd make around the same if not more. MyPlayers should carry over but also age, and they should he resettable and the VC spent on the character should be refunded..but greed will NEVER let that happen. People are spending hundreds and sometimes thousands each year on their players and myTeam packs and the likes. Which wouldnt need to be the case if VC was refundable. Their microtransactions is sending this game off a cliff people just dont see it. Sports games should NEVER, and I mean NEVER be pay to win. Maybe some MMOs/RPGs can get away with it. But the microtransactions should always be cosmetic unless it's like GTA where at least you dont actually buy a new game every year and have to lose all your shit.
You’re not wrong but then again you’re not right. When you say it’s pushing people away, the sad truth is it’s not. 2k19 was the best release in the games history so it’s not really pushing people away if its been going down hill for so long. Granted people may be like this shit trash every year they get the game but they still get it.
@@vestomusicofficial9933 wrong bro. I didn't even buy 2k19 and I had all of em before. I went with Live 19 and haven't even wanted to play 2k since. They ARE pushing people away.
This video was needed for the toxic 2K community. Great work on this video! Bought 2K19, played through the Prelude and finished off the initial story of My Career, and then never played it again. 2K has gotten fat with their success and does not care on improving because they don't need to like you said. NBA Live is trying hard but they have no market share whatsoever in the basketball gaming community anymore. The only way 2K stops with the pay-to-win structure of their game is to hit them in their pockets and not buy it. People complain about 2K and then go ahead and still buy the game and the VC. I know this because I am that same guy who fell for their "improvements" hook, line and sinker.
Till this day I still play my 2k11. I have to always update the roster manually. But considering how good the graphics and gameplay is compare to any 2k to this date. It's worth it.
Ur spot on! I bought NBA Live19 over thanksgiving break as my temper couldn’t take waiting 40mins for a simple 3v3 pickup or Jordan Rec League with my 89 overall player...only to get matched up with Shooting Guards disguised as PG’s just so they get the ball first every possession; and then be pigeon-holed into only being able to set pick, grab rebounds and score on fast break dunks simply bc it’s easier to let Sharpshooters do their thing AKA make a shooter and you too can become Chef Curry! So I bought Live expecting something close to what I experienced on 2K and it’s legit night and day...I can make a player (I’m legit interested in making) without having to sacrifice either 40hours of my life or 40 hrs of my paycheck...it’s liberating! Lastly, there’s actual matchmaking in the game so it’s ok to actually miss a shot or two...lose the game...and just rematch the team u lost to bc everyone’s not hyperventilating about their “park record” or your build. There are leaderboards that are ordered by your teammate grade...(I’m a pg and get 16pts for every assisted 3 pointer...if u hit a 3 pointer, I believe u get 8 points) so there is actually an incentive to play...Basketball...what a concept!
Hey prince have you thought about making a video on the topic of how much money publishers invest in marketing compared to actual game development. I'm happy that kingdom hearts 3 is shying away from the hardcore marketing and investing its assets into actual development and was curious on what you thought
@@16xthedetail76 compared to the average game it's really not. They upload trailers on TH-cam and that's about it. I still am cringing at the absolute shitshow that destiny's marketing was. There was buses, cinematic trailers everywhere, adrolls, and whatever that tap dancing crap was
I think will only work with really big name games that build their own hype. They don’t HAVE to market a ton because others will advertise it for free.
Like with mortal engines lol cost 100 mil for the movie and 120 for the marketing but the movie sucks dick and it's only made 47 million so far globally
At least Myleague and offline play in 2k is good. that's all I care about. See Madden has all the same issues you mentioned, yet the game itself sucks too. Franchise and offline play is also a joke in Madden. So 2K isn't the worst because at least you get a deep offline simulation mode. Madden gives you nothing. 2K has amazing gameplay, announcers, presentation, franchise mode, customization, and realism, all things Madden lacks. Also while NBA Live is getting better and better, Madden has absolutely no competition. Also I don't understand the ad thing. The real courts have reeses ads on them too. Games like NASCAR 09 got criticized for not including the ford or chevy badge on the cars. In terms of realism, the ads make sense. Gatorade is the official sports drink of the NBA. If you couldn't put Nike clothing or shoes on your player, people would be unhappy. It's not a forced ad, it's part of the realism of replicating the NBA. If they got rid of all ads in the game, it wouldn't be as immersive. For example, when I was a kid I'd get giddy when an announcer would say in game "This is brought to you by Snickers!" or something because that made it feel like a real broadcast. I see no issue with that.
Eh, franchise mode could be a lot more immersive. They should take all the cinematic features and make into a unique story for each team. Plus crowd and pregame animations are now starting to be lazy. In OKC ppl don’t sit til their team scores I want that.. in oracle they go berserk everytime their team drains a 3, I want that every time. I want road games to feel like road games and home games to feel like home games.
ideally, if 2k allowed you to start off with a more polished player and not a player who has no business being on an NBA roster then that would make the need for VC to have a tolerable time from the jump easier. I'm not saying that the myplayer should start as a level 80 or anything but if my archetype is a 3 point specialist my three point rating should start at the point where I should be able to make an open 3 most of the time. With that being said then that same players other non shooting attributes can be even worse like dunks or speed and there will still be a grind to get those attributes to a desired location. But at least the game gives you the ability to start with a character that is of some NBA caliber.
Stephen Dowling That’s the whole point of the mycareer, to progress by playing games and wasting your vc. But it’s a bit too difficult when you’re starting off so I agree with giving a better rating to your specialty. This game just encourages you to buy vc so you don’t struggle.
2k19 is even better if you only play the single player like MyGM and MyLeague. all the complaints for 2k are from modes (e.g. MyCareer) that did not even exist in the Dreamcast versions
I think the thing is that there are a lot of kids and teens that recognize microtransactions and pay to win as simply part of the game. They do not see anything wrong with it because it's probably all they've really known growing up and playing video games. Also they're not watching TH-cam videos and other platforms that are blowing the whistle on gaming companies doing this. If you have millions of gamers the simply don't care about microtransactions and pay to win because they don't see anything wrong with it, then said game is always going to sell no matter how many people blow the whistle about shady game practices.
Very true bro and I'll say I'm guilty of this especially with 2k. I don't buy a bunch of stuff for my team just the extra $ to upgrade your player all the way but still I remember playing 2k13 and I upgraded my player all the way to 99 without any extra money but now I just see it as a part of upgrading you player and i wish it wasn't like that still but it will probably never go back now
Gone are the days of the true gamer were you grind till your good enough to master a game the new generation of gameres will forever be noobs as they run straight to the micro transactions and have to pay to be any good at a game
North Korea Is The Greatest Nation Fr, especially playing on HOF, your teammates are utter functional retards on your opponents make pretty much every shot
Gus Grime the devs of war frame removed a micro transaction cause too many people were using it. If you feel bugged by what warframe sells you have the constitution of a hedgehog. They really don’t push that much.
2K is the worst, yesterday a badge glitch started at 2pm and by the 10pm it was patched. But contested shots, and pushing still haven’t been. They are letting the players know they don’t care if it’s not about money.
Haven't paid a single dollar, don't even pay for live... ended my first MyCareer season at 92 overall averaging 34 pts/19 assists/8 rebounds and Finals champions with the KNICKS. Not sure why everyone on here is so frustrated... if you expect to play less than a season and be 90 overall why are you playing? You want to be handed these points and/or pay for them? Why? Just play the game, get better, and earn in-game VC. It's really not complicated enough for a 20 minute video detailing the history of NBA 2k. I didn't spend a single dollar after purchasing the game and have loved every second of it. You make that seem impossible... I set the assists record for the NBA in my rookie season.
Have you ever played Madden before? What if every player you drafted or created started so poorly? In the real world most players aren't that bad. So why would only this series impose that on you? Madden gives you balanced options on how to start a career with a new player, so why can't 2K do the same? It's pretty simple, really. Some people don't want to grind and some people don't mind. Appeal to your fan base and the money will come. Screw them over every year and eventually they will all jump ship.
Lil Samurai probably because you were a 67 overall paint protector and never got picked up lmao. you probably got your ankles broke by a Lockdown defender
man I stopped buying 2k since 18 man I'm tired of getting the game and going to a my park and already seeing Demi gods and overall 92 while im grinding and overall 67
@@ruggedobserver4987 Lemme guess, you're one of the players that thinks you're good because your archaetype is pure sharpshooter and you just run back and forth at the three point line until you get open and sink threes with no skill whatsoever 😂
It's a shame. I didn't buy 2k19 because 2k18 really was the nail in the coffin for me. I only played against the CPU in quick play or GM mode but even there the cash grabbing was outrageous. I loved the care they put in the old games, the classic teams (now they just put random 67 John Smiths on the bench and maybe, maybe 5 starting players making new classic teams unusable), the old school filters in 2k12 and so on. The big problem was seeing my younger brother throw money into the game and buying 50 € of VC, then another 20, then another 30. In my opinion, this is the most serious matter. These practices encourage young audiences to throw away money just because everyone else is doing so, not realising that they're being scammed and what they get in return is not proportionate to the amount of money they invest.
I’m keeping an eye on NBA Live since they’ve taken strides with Live 19, their graphics are better imo but their animations aren’t good, that will be their focus next they seem very promising in the near future. 2-4 years and they’ll be on close to on par with 2k or surpassed them.
Luke Roberts anyone will play with you if you don’t have a bum record. No one wants to play with an amateur bronze two way slasher that shoots threes 🤦♀️
I stoped playing after buying 2k14. It was a total grind fest and eventually you found out ways to score which just isn´t realistic. It just felt like you were tricking the AI. They try and make it super realistic but it just isn´t. Everything feels clunky and slow
2K basically took the Madden model and evolved it. Fortnite as well. They strike at particular demographics, play on the real world social implications, AND THEN montize the psychology of all of that. It's sickening, and this is coming from a Destiny/WoW player.
Live 19 hasn't been bad this year I had lots of fun with it. I used to buy both games but this year I bought live from the jump and I've been pleased 💯. Lots of community feedback, updates, content creator challenges, and you CAN'T buy your ovr. They been tightening up the mechanics too. It's on sale for under 10 rn I'd say cop it if you're annoyed with 2k
Ain’t nobody trying to sweat a game out before the next one comes out you. I’m not trying to pay 85 bucks for a game, then get harassed to pay more before the next one comes out before the next title comes out too. I just want a quality game for a fair price but...
2k needs to focus on the gameplay and the nuances that go with it, instead of the new layering of monetary transactions. I don't mind the ads because ads are everywhere in real life
2k has successful made its way into the "Hip culture" in the way Jordan or Nike Sneakers has. In order to be hip and cool you have to have the newest 2k exactly when it releases. You must have the highest overall player, you must have the coolest gear in the park, and you must have the flashiest dunk animations. Having all these knowing you spend real life money on it is just another way to "stunt" (urban dictionary that if you dont know) on everyone else. Its appeals to the basic worthless need to prove to others you are better than them. And 2k does what Jordan the shoes do and feeds the beast. Even with NBA Live back and being a really good (not great) game, go around your urban friends and say you got Live instead of 2k and you'll be the butt of a joke. 2k has found a way to transcend being a game, and managed to ingrain itself into a culture. And no matter how bad the game they will always make theirs.
Shane Thomas the throne can be taken away from 2k. I stopped playing videos games with 2k15 (I think). A lot of what you’re saying about 2k now is how it used to be with Live when I was growing up. Live and EA Sports with Madden were the Kings on the block who seemed untouchable. Call of Duty seemed untouchable not too long ago. I started playing with 2k3 and I told people for years that 2k was the better game. By 2k8 they had the throne and some people resisted all the way up until Live was discontinued and had no choice but to play 2k or no basketball. I used to go to those Live die hards when it died and laugh at them telling them I told you Live was trash years ago you didn’t listen. Live has to find a way to check 2 boxes the same way 2k did years ago. Better graphics and better gameplay and they can regain their crown. Without that I can’t see how they can win.
At least Jordan sneakers have a very high resale value, VC is just some shit that’s rendered irrelevant in the next years game. My favorite 2k game of all time is 2k5, that’s before they became money hungry bastards thirsty for that bit-coin. Fuck Mike Wang, Fuck rob jones, and fuck Take-2.
I came by to the comment section after returning to play 2k from a like a 3 month hiatus. Come to find out they took away simulating MyCareer games after halftime up or down 11 points and keeping your VC/badge progress. They just keep taking away time from the player, consistently, non-stop. 2K is truly, the WORST game of all time when it comes to respecting their players.
THANK YOU!!!!! I played 2k19 for one month and I haven’t played it since. Everything about it is boring, the community is toxic, they lied about the micro transactions and the developers don’t care about the fans. The MyCareer story was a waste of time. The community doesn’t complain about the real problems within the game, such as the micro transactions. The fact that last year NBA2K18 had a skateboard and a bike that was given to you for free. This year that skateboard is 50,000 VC and the bike is 60,000!!!!!!!! Nobody cares about it. They take one tiny step forward and 10 big ass steps back.
@Jorden Stephenson Because it's the game modes that they came to play that they bought the game to play that use to be there favorites... Now it's not even playable without paying
It's literally people like you that are the problem. You care more about whatever stupid gimmicky items you can buy at the park, rather than appreciate the deep basketball mechanics you probably haven't even bothered to delve into.
Being a fan of the NHL franchise is WAYY more painful tho tbh... no competition since 2K stopped their series in 2011. But I absolutely respect the points made in this video. Most annual installments (shooters & sports titles specifically) are almost solely cash grabs that force users to move to newest arena via pay gap (ie. Buy the new game) in order to actually have a full community to participate in and play against, and to actually receive any updates or attention, as only the new releases get that. It's sad how these very expensive graphics updates and tuner tweaks have become $90 annual investments for gamers
2k is just killing the competition. The only other option we have is to go outside or the gym and play real life basketball. I don't think 2k graphics will get any better until PS5 Good Video Sir!
Frank Mack II nba live 18 & 19’s graphics shit on 2k lol the player scans on 2k are A TAD, literally a tad better but that’s about it. Gameplay is no where near as stiff, dribbling and driving aren’t impossible etc. 2k’s just looking for money and don’t care for quality gameplay.
Here’s how I see 2K: Let’s say you want to buy a new car. When you get to the shop, the dealer offers you a car. Every single detail is exactly the same as your first one, but it has dog shit smeared all over its windows and rims. And it costs an extra 250$ than the car you first bought. Why are people just blindly buying that car?!
Vernell Johnson Jr. I just can’t get into the live series of games. Idk I guess I’ve just played 2k for too many years but live’s gameplay regardless of the year has always felt clunky and stiff to me I played both nba live 17 and 18 and I’ll admit it is getting better but the gameplay just still doesn’t feel right imo
Due to the experience i had with 2k18, I chose not to pick it up 2k19 bc the micro transactions ruined it. I spent so much more than just 60 for the game after all the vc needed to make my player a decent player. I'm adult with a family, i don't have tons of free time to grind it out 2K.
Jorden Stephenson but most people use Mycareer and Myteam. And unless you want to grind for an extreme amount of hours, you need to pay at least a 100 for a good team
I decided to do a My Career play through without purchasing VC on Hall of Fame difficulty. It was excruciating. But after 60 games I finally made it to 80 overall. And I didn't play too bad. 4th in ROTY voting. Made the All-Star Team (not as a starter tho). BUT my A.I teammates are morons. My teams record after those 60 games? 10-50! Literally could not fathom how awful my teammates were playing. But in my play through the game had me thinking "am I doing enough?" or "is there more I can do to help my team win?". The awful play almost convinced me that I needed to buy VC and upgrade my player faster in order for my team to do better. This is the "mechanics" of the game itself. Self-improving grinding has nothing to do with the gameplay. But instead centered around VC purchasing or making your think you need to purchase VC. It is possible to play the game without microtransactions but it's a long...very long, excruciating grind. But getting to a 80 overall by myself without the help of purchasing VC was very satisfying and felt more satisfying than any other play through I have done in the game.
You are pretty right about this game. It’s just a simple cut & paste from the game last year but they update the roster. The same crap you get with Madden. 2k19 will the very last 2k I get until they have some sort of competition. Since there is no competition they can do whatever they want & don’t have to get better
I liked this video and you hit on just about everything that is wrong with 2k but my question is. Why is it an issue that there is advertisements all over the neighborhood? I’ve noticed all of them and never really thought of it as an issue. There are plenty of game with ads like this but I personally feel like you reached on the ad “issue” to create another fault by 2k.
Facts! I dint start winning until i put Kevin durant at point vaurd because i can literally shoot over every point guard under 6'5. I didnt want to give in to the cheese but whatever
I actually think the ads make the game more "realistic", so to speak. Look around you: "product placements" are EVERYWHERE in our world, whether they're on the streets, in the subway station, or on a bus passing by… etc. It doesn't hurt to add some to the game, in my opinion.
Do you know they aren't putting it in the game to make the experience better right? 2k is making millions by placing those ads in game, yet they can't improve simple game mechanics or give out a better product. They still have the nerve to make everything a micro transaction for a game that you already paid for. It wouldn't a problem if that revenue was used to improve the product or cut down on all the in game purchases. How are players still supporting or defending this crap? Until we consumers stop buying they will keep pushing and pushing for more money.
Yes, we're all well aware of the fact that the ads were put there for money. I was just saying that it did make the game more "realistic" after all. I wasn't defending anything, or else I'd have said something like: "They did a great job adding those ads, because it gave us a more realistic experience. Why are you people complaining???". However, I really don't understand gamers (or just people in general) nowadays. The micro transaction crap is a real issue in gaming now, but everyone's doing it since people are STILL willing to pay to give themselves that edge over others. The rest of the gamers will then just whine about it, but just like other comments here suggested: they will continue to buy the products when a new one shows up either way. How is that problem solving? Quite frankly, one should just enjoy the game (even if it's got its flaws) since you've bought it, or just simply sell it or return it somehow. Why bother to complain about the same things all the time? It's just a game after all. It was meant for us to play & relax, and not to get worked up about its problems. If you don't like it, then don't play it. It's as simple as that. Once again: I'm NOT defending 2K. I'm also tired of all the stuff they've done these days, but I chose to grind my way up & enjoy it, and not to be utterly frustrated with a high expectation that things will change for better in a blink of an eye. How about you guys?
I love this channel. I have a degree in marketing and nearly ever point you make as to why these games fail has been pounded in our heads that we shouldn't do. The yearly buyers who say things like 'i don't get that glitch!' 'its my money, I can spend it on what I want. If you want to be good just spend some money. It's your fault' 'just abuse the broken mechanics' are doing nothing but making games and the industry worse. In 2k18 they thought so highly of their own game they forced us to watch and participate in cutscenes that had absolutely no outcome on your career. Opening sequence after all the blacktop games DJ, the guy who's supposed to love basketball, ignores Kawhi Leonard, one of the best players in the world, to say hi to Ronnie 2k. I just do not understand why people put up with the developer constantly ignoring the community in order to feed their own money making desires.

Naa bro defense is cool the only thing they messed up on was a nigga COMPLETELY stopping u from moving The only thing defense should be meant for is altering the shot, not barricade u from getting to the rim
Well said! So many spot on points in this video. I'm with you... 2K will not receive anymore $$$ from me either. Games are all about the cash grabs now. The purity of good gameplay, intriguing story lines, and the natural progression of getting better are gone. The concept of starting out a scrub and putting effort and hours of gameplay to progress is a no brainer to me. At the end of the day... it's all about the dollar signs. So as of 2019, 2k has a total monopoly on basketball games?
I feel you... I use to love NBA Live series up until 05...Then NBA 2k9 Turned me out every since then I was hooked.. Yes.. the 2k series is a RIP off an they are not getting better.. I just thought by now we would of got a better halftime..More NBA feeling keeping u wanting to play season after season.. it's like after the first season they get to repeating the same thing an since I've been playing it it always looked the same.. nothing to much change but little tweaks.. I done wit they azz too.. that's y I rent games from redbox.. Career mode sucks.. like u said start off like s true scrub.. That's y I create a man an ball out.. They need to cut all that shit an make a real better career mode an exhibition..
You don't mind ads in a game you PAID for? That's some really stupid shit my guy. TH-camrs need ad revenue because they're using a FREE platform. They serving you ads and micros lol
I honestly don’t mind the factor of all the product placements just because it’s supposed to be presented LIKE an NBA game. That’s the point. Madden’s done it for a years for product placement, what’s any different than 2K doing it like what the NBA does for all they’re brand and company advertising. You’re gonna see the same thing on an nba production. That’s what’s supposed to give that realistic factor. I understand it’s a game, but it’s to give the emersion. However the community is so toxic I don’t even touch the courts.
Chris Smoove’s made up stories for 2k13 were 1000000x better than any official 2k story.

I bailed out of 2K last year. I bailed out of COD and Battlefield last year. I bailed out of Madden and Assassin's Creed last year. Annual releases need to die
why?
if they are making money they are clearly not going to stop
Battlefield isn't annual and Assassin's Creed games, imo, are never bad.
President C4 ac had to skip a year because of how bad it got but nothing wrong with liking it... and battlefield produces a game once a year so it is pretty much annual, if not it’s really close
I did the same however AC Origins was actually surprisingly good.
One of the things that still gets me is it tries to say it's adding realism... Yet a pair of shoes in-game can be 10,000VC and you earn 2,000VC per game. What NBA player has to play five games to afford a pair of shoes?
I remember playing 2k11 when you had to grind your player from the ground up. No micro transactions. NBA 2k13 started this vc bullshit
Paul Lucas im done at whichever one had Kd on the loadscreen with the thunder. These games are trash now.
u still can grind ur guy u have to play it
Maaann I remember that.

That, or you just can't pay for VC and you have to grind for it yourself. You would assume going out of college or being a standout player you wouldn't be so trash you are benched every game and only have like 8 mins play time just to whiff easy shots and get blocked every play lol
I've been a 2K fan since Sega Dreamcast and this right here is the EXACT reason I stopped playing.
Exactly, no game should include vc for progression. MT's are killing gaming. 2K publishes Borderlands, so me and my boys are all nervous about BL3 having MT's. Hopefully Gearbox wont allow that.
The greed is why i quit playing

The worst thing about 2K isn't even the game. It's the community.
kid frescah it’s both.
Personally, it'd make a trash game more bearable for me because we can have fun roasting it
calm down virgin
Yeah 95% Of the community looks for a way to exploit the game with dribble cheese and all that shit. If people just played normal ball it wouldn't be near as bad
And all the people who don’t play madden anymore say “at least 2k makes a solid game” like boi 2k has been trash since 2k17 and 2k18 just confirmed my thoughts with the micro transactions
have u played the games?maddens ass
I just played 17 again a week ago and my god it looks like shit on the xbox one, at least 19 looks good imo
XD DABDAB yes, and madden is all based on animations, they are two sides of the same coin

The 67 will shoot only 1 time in 17 of 20 minutes and most of the higher ranks will quit.
eric wilson sad isn’t it
REGALITY4LIFE it is...it’s one of those things you’d wish the devs would fix or you could sit down with them and have a serious conversation with them about.
Even if I were alone...the enjoyment should come regardless of who I play with...and we can all agree the Gatorade gym and stand sux tbh

for me personally, the reasons why the game is trash revolves around the shooting exploits.
Next time stop complaining, and acutally try to solve problems instead of saying something is wrong with the game.
setting picks is just part of basketball. Get you a lockdown with HOF pick dodger. problem solved. good lockdowns can lock shit completely up.

Complain with your dollar and they will listen
NotoriousLank, idk NBA lives makes nothing nowadays and they havent made any changes to there gameplay in years. Honestly play a old live game and the mechanics feel nearly identical to the newer games.
I agree, the gamer community needs to get off their soapbox

Madden is trash. No competition and also they just update rosters lol. Nothing more or less
@@JaeKidd17 that's all they should be doing is changing rosters every year. But corporate greed.
You’re not wrong but then again you’re not right. When you say it’s pushing people away, the sad truth is it’s not. 2k19 was the best release in the games history so it’s not really pushing people away if its been going down hill for so long. Granted people may be like this shit trash every year they get the game but they still get it.

It's not even worth the the price they charge us on release every year.

I stopped playing at 2k17.
The grind factor is gone. Fifa is better. 2k. Left their roots for greed.

Hey prince have you thought about making a video on the topic of how much money publishers invest in marketing compared to actual game development. I'm happy that kingdom hearts 3 is shying away from the hardcore marketing and investing its assets into actual development and was curious on what you thought
Umm kingdom hearts 3 is advertised everywhere man, what are you talking about?
@@16xthedetail76 compared to the average game it's really not. They upload trailers on TH-cam and that's about it. I still am cringing at the absolute shitshow that destiny's marketing was. There was buses, cinematic trailers everywhere, adrolls, and whatever that tap dancing crap was
I think will only work with really big name games that build their own hype. They don’t HAVE to market a ton because others will advertise it for free.
He doesn't think anything if its not gonna get him views tomorrow
I used to do park and switched to my league and it 🔥🔥🔥
Eh, franchise mode could be a lot more immersive.
@@blue-balenci4181 damn right it is. You can be 99 overall and even got paid VC lmao
ideally, if 2k allowed you to start off with a more polished player and not a player who has no business being on an NBA roster then that would make the need for VC to have a tolerable time from the jump easier.
Stephen Dowling exactly it would be nice if my player wasn’t so bad to start that I look like a middle schooler
Stephen Dowling That’s the whole point of the mycareer, to progress by playing games and wasting your vc. But it’s a bit too difficult when you’re starting off so I agree with giving a better rating to your specialty. This game just encourages you to buy vc so you don’t struggle.

Oliver Rouch how many times it took you to go 92 overall
Have you ever played Madden before? What if every player you drafted or created started so poorly? In the real world most players aren't that bad. So why would only this series impose that on you? Madden gives you balanced options on how to start a career with a new player, so why can't 2K do the same? It's pretty simple, really. Some people don't want to grind and some people don't mind. Appeal to your fan base and the money will come. Screw them over every year and eventually they will all jump ship.

Great depiction!!! They capitalized on being an urban trend

I stopped buying it since VC was introduced in NBA 2K13. I loved the Skill points system in 2K12 even if the grind was hard and expensive
wait, they add VC in NBA 2K13? so soon?
Being a fan of the NHL franchise is WAYY more painful tho tbh... no competition since 2K stopped their series in 2011. But I absolutely respect the points made in this video. Most annual installments (shooters & sports titles specifically) are almost solely cash grabs that force users to move to newest arena via pay gap (ie. Buy the new game) in order to actually have a full community to participate in and play against, and to actually receive any updates or attention, as only the new releases get that. It's sad how these very expensive graphics updates and tuner tweaks have become $90 annual investments for gamers
As a fellow fan of the NHL, I completely understand that
Competition is necessary

Nba live 19 is a good grind without any microtransactions
I liked this video and you hit on just about everything that is wrong with 2k but my question is. Why is it an issue that there is advertisements all over the neighborhood? I’ve noticed all of them and never really thought of it as an issue. There are plenty of game with ads like this but I personally feel like you reached on the ad “issue” to create another fault by 2k.
Facts! I dint start winning until i put Kevin durant at point vaurd because i can literally shoot over every point guard under 6'5. I didnt want to give in to the cheese but whatever
Kodjo X what are you talking about
I actually think the ads make the game more "realistic", so to speak.
I have said this for the past two years, but next year I am serious, I will never buy another 2k again
He says as he saves up to buy 2K20
2k16 is almost a better version than 2k19. You never paid for haircuts, or jumpshots, or dribble moves.
Tf? You don't pay for haircuts in 2K19 either dummy. Or your jumpshot.
I loved 2k but when they added all the fluff to the Playground. I tried the nba LIVE demo and haven't been back.
Vosovogalsyncope what do you mean by fluff
@@rainingtaco3710 The playground, haircuts, dodge ball, the gym, running around the playground, indecisive " i got next players", same server issues.. I will admit the shoe creation is awesome.
Don’t forget the badge boosters and fake teammates that join just to let they’re friends win
In game ads give the game more content like who's really mad they saw their player on a box of cereal
Great Video, honestly is lost these days !!! Keep it up and I wish more people were like you bro. Then, we would have great sports games to play I quit 2K and EA games 2 years ago and Its only a matter of time until their current fans starts to shrink. God bless and thx for an amazing detailed Video.
It also glitches alot. 2k and madden 19. They messed up 2k when they made my player for online only.
B Lo it was always for online but they never knew how to poperly need te demigods
2k19 is WAY better than 2k18. I’m much more content with it then I have been with 2k in a while.
its hard not to be way better than 2k18 lol
Long Schnozzed Tribesman you’re obviously terrible at the game
U must be a pure stretch BOT
Rosifying I’m a shot creator.
No lmao im trying to enjoy it but it's not even playable
The defense is so hard it's unrealistic.
Cameron Wild it’s actually realistic than lol these dudes really will lock u down if u not better than them
Naa bro defense is cool the only thing they messed up on was a nigga COMPLETELY stopping u from moving
The only thing defense should be meant for is altering the shot, not barricade u from getting to the rim
Eurgh wasted money on NBA 2K18 on the switch.
Speedy Gonzalez never buy a triple A title on a nintendo platform. It never gets enough support by consumers or developers
I still play custom leagues solo on 2K18 on my switch and it’s a fun as hell mobile basketball fix
1pfuller I feel Franchise Mode offline is the only real reason to get the games anymore
It’s the shitty servers that have killed the game.
That's what 99% of park players issue is
True
For real, thats crazy fucking shit
Defense and Offense are beyond out of wack. I thought it was easy to foul out in 18, 19 is a god damn different story
2k servers have been trash since 2k10 though
I play the shit out of 2K16 love it to dead it my first introduction to basketball.
Best 2k on EVERYTHING 4.13.16
2k16 was my favorite 2k of all time
Still play offline from time to time . Best 2k ever
Yea 2k16 was dope
Agreed. I seen the decline coming after 16' and haven't bought 2k since. I'm glad Live is back.
Much needed video seriously 💯it's a shame because 2k used to be all I played but now I'm pretty much done with it now. Smh
This is why i aint buy 2k19
Splash Finesser Me Neither! 😤 I’ve had it with 2K.
Havent bought since 2k16 😂😂 my girl bought me 18 & that shit was so ass i knew 19 was a no go once i heard the grind was gonna be back.
I personally dont mind ads as it is a way to bank like youtubers do but being indirectly forced to pay money to be better is trash
Nobody puts a gun to anybody head and says pay to be better u either with it or not
You don't mind ads in a game you PAID for?
