It's really not such a dire situation. The cat would not last more than one or two hunts in reality before the smart rats set up a successful trap using materials available to them in the sewers (and you would be surprised what you can find in an average urban sewer.)

I watched a video from a camel called scp chronicles or something that does videos from the pov of SCPs and victims and the 610s see life as a beautiful eutopia and any non infected as awful monsters. Apparently there's a huge perceptual shift that goes along with that one so supposedly people with 610 are much happier than people without it
Addendum: we should consider the deliberate creation of SCP-731-2 instances as a means of SCP-173 containment. A colony of 40-50 is likely to have enough members where casual glancing from multiple members at SCP-173 will effectively lock it in place. -Dr. Sylvester Cat

That is, we don't know if these rats ARE the D-classes, or if you put in one human and get one intelligent rat similar in personality. And we can't really know which is the case unless we make contact with them, and they are totally not interested in making contact.

You're yelling about the researcher not knowing that they were intelligent because of an excerpt that the researcher wrote before any of the other experiments that showed that they were intelligent had been done.
