  • We really hope we do not live to regret this decision. While we love our front TV cabinet makeover, we are now fully committed to using the convection part of our microwave instead of an oven. This mod meant cutting into counter tops so what's been done will NOT be undone! Will it all work out?

    We live in our fifth wheel full time with 3 small kids and we just pulled out the oven! I was so worried about taking it out because I bake all the time but I hated that stove so much and it leaked so we only ever used one burner. We have a one burner induction stove top that is mobile/set up as needed and I primarily 'bake' in one of our two instapots, a 6 qu or the 8qt that also has the air fry/bake lid. So far, so good! We are looking to upgrade this summer with an electric smoker/pit outside but I've been able to bake a ton of stuff, planning on doing bread this week. The amount of new storage and countertops in our bunkhouse fifth wheel is now amazing. You won't regret it!

    We installed a counter top d/washer where the stove was and a induction burner. Love the both. Very little propane use now.

    I wish I had a Stewart! I live in NE Florida and find it hard to find a person like him. Just to install a Max Fan. I also HATE the propane oven! I have a little induction cooktop that I use and a toaster oven. Never used the propane oven

    I took out my propane burners and installed a convection and never looked back. Now I dont cook for a family, but knowing I dont have to use propane to cook when I do is a plus for me.
    Next I am having my company install an 8 camera 360* safety video system for all sorts of things. 1) I wont have to get up and peek out a window at night wile boondocking to see whats happening at night. 2) it will have a 4 TB SDD so i should never loose video files. 3) safety wile driving - recording 360* 24/7 is an amazing mental plus.
    After that will come upgrading to a hybrid hot water system. electric instant wile shore power is there, but propane backup wile not.
    lastly I saw that "workman's bandaid" he had! haha, I cant tell you how many times I cut myself and used napkins and electrical tape to keep going.

    Your reno is inspiring. We have a 5th wheel currently, but have fallen in love with a 2014 DISCOVERY...BUT it's dark and dismal. WE would completely brighten and lighten it up. Researching the DISCOVERY, appears to be a solid brand and built in the years when attention to detail was top notch! Love the induction with storage below. I would ditch the propane in a heartbeat. What model is yours? We have found a 40E. Safe travels

    Now you MUST run generator when boondocking.
    Prefer using gen as little as possible.

    • @GratefulGlamper
      @GratefulGlamper  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yes, we know. We rarely boondock and when lotdocking we’re usually eating something out of the fridge (sandwiches, charcuterie, etc) or eating at the Cracker Barrel if that’s where we’re parked. We don’t mind using our Gen when needed.

    I am looking to remove my oven and make it into a storage area for my pots and pans . I'm OK with the propane cooktop. However, I would also like to change my regular microwave to a convection one so I can air fry. I really just a newbie and I'm going to travel solo (part-time only) so, I'm not cooking for a family. Does Stewart get over to Southern California? Anyone know of an Reasonable RV Remodeler in the Orange County (CA) area as I have several other projects that I'll need help on as well. Thanks

  • @PeaceMeBish
    @PeaceMeBish 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I want to do this as well with the stove (inlaid into the countertop), however, my first thought is what happens when a pot boils over. Have you experienced this? I’m worried that the liquid will flow into the gap around the cooktop and be a nightmare to clean up. And potentially ruining the cabinet underneath over time. Since boil overs are inevitable for those of us who are easily distracted.

    • @GratefulGlamper
      @GratefulGlamper  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We have silicone around the stove top so there isn’t a gap.

    What about slider doors for the camera storage space?

    • @GratefulGlamper
      @GratefulGlamper  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s a good idea / however would still require building some sort of header. The problem with that is trying to match up the vinyl, current shortages, etc.

  • @walterscanlan4037
    @walterscanlan4037 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nice upgrade, we are thinking of doing same, but concerned about power. I assume convection microwave and induction cooktop are on same circuit, are you limited to using either the cooktop or the microwave at same time?

    • @GratefulGlamper
      @GratefulGlamper  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Our microwave is on a separate circuit from the induction top. The only thing you have to be mindful of is OVERALL power usage. So for instance, if you have both a/c's going, using the induction top, charging devices, etc and then add another high power device, it could blow the breaker. Over all, just be mindful of power draw as a whole and you'll be fine. Thanks for watching!

    What watts or amps does the convection stove draw

    • @GratefulGlamper
      @GratefulGlamper  ปีที่แล้ว

      The microwave/convection oven combo does draw quite a bit of power. If you’re referring to the induction cooktop, it’s 1800 watts. You can see more tech specs on it here: amzn.to/3KszvAC

    I am not a Internet or TH-cam influencer, but I am reaching out to those of you that are, and asking ones that might have connections with the industry, of RV's or Items that are Manufactured for RV's to have someone make the equivalent of the Propane Blackstone Grill, but Electric.
    I have been doing research on Fires in and around RV's being caused by Propane Stoves, Propane Heaters, and Propane Refrigerators. We now have 12V Refrigerators, and Electric induction cooktops, Why not the Equivalent of the Blackstone Grill, but only Electric? Somebody out there should be able to make one, but as of now, I have not found one, at least not a big one like the Blackstone!

    Don't know why everybody is giving up their propane it's way more efficient when boondocking no stress on the batteries Our fridge runs off a propane uses barely anything and then we cook And boil water on propane and if you're barbecue you're gonna need propane anyways ps almost forgot the furnace
