Check out footage of the Fall Of Troy playing the Seattle date of Warped Tour--one of their two Warped dates this year. For more, go to www.altpress.co...
Once, in Tokyo, I saw him spit his gum at the ceiling while playing leads, catch it with his mouth, and keep playing without missing a beat. Much as it was gross, I knew I was in the presence of genius not seen anywhere else in this generation. Haha.
Aldo Raine That's not a gibson, its some fake viper thing. Gibsons are the best guitars out there I prefer SG cherry red, or Gibson standard though. I would say that Jacksons and Ibanezes suck.
I love when bands do that special intro thing for songs. When I'm playing along to my favorite songs it feels amazing to be able to free style something that might land in proximity to what I'm listening to
he had only been playing four or five years when they wrote doppelganger which is absolutely insane. even his stuff with the 30 years war was technically impressive, and that was 2 years before doppelganger came out. he may not be as proficient as some other long time guitarists but i feel like his playing style is something totally original and unique
jeez people, so what if you didn't like the last album? there is always something to enjoy in a band that you've been a fan of for so long. so what if it was different? i personally liked that they were taking a different approach to their music than before. now i'm not saying that the new tfot is better than the old (i personally think that the OLDEST one was the best with the self titled) but it's a part of being a musician that everyone goes through, a change in their music. tfot forever!
I really don't know any guitarist that sounds remotely similar, when you watch Thomas with the fall of troy and hear him play you instantly know its Thomas by the style of his riffs.. how many modern guitarists can you say that about? not very many. I've never really been impressed with any other guitarists except Erak and Hendrix,I just don't like they way people are playing guitar. the greats may be more technically skilled but they will never makesomething ascreative as ghostship or dplganger
check out the band Pretty Girls Make Graves. You can hear some similarities to Erak. A Seattle band that has obviously influenced him when he was starting out.
I know I know, blasphemy (although to be fair im not comparing them as guitarists, i think pigeonholing them as just guitarists is a disservice personally) But there's something about his ease as a front man that I've only seen with Hendrix. Plus both being from seattle and in power trios helps to I spose.
nick reinhardt doesnt get neardly as much credit as he deserves thomas singing while playing tfot parts is impressive enough but nick singing his parts over tera melos lines puts him in a league of his own
@blake2112 The definition of irony is something happening that goes against what one would think. One would think he wouldnt be a good guitarist, because he was originally a drummer. Hence, why I said it was ironic.
ive been watching this video for 10+ years..
still amazed by the spit.
Once, in Tokyo, I saw him spit his gum at the ceiling while playing leads, catch it with his mouth, and keep playing without missing a beat. Much as it was gross, I knew I was in the presence of genius not seen anywhere else in this generation. Haha.
@@TiernanSongs thank you for sharing this with me
@@TiernanSongs same. also saw him one handed, play just got this symphony goin' holding a bra in the other 😆
He did the spit thing at the show I saw too back then lol
Thomas once said "well I'm not a good multitasker" and he's singing, playing guitar, moving, and being AWSEOME
Can we all agree that Thomas is and always is a legend
Absoflogginglutely!!! A good friend with a Huge Heart as well🙌
@@ChiefBangarang yep
Back for my yearly viewing.
Never gets old
The sounds and chemistry this guy and band has is beautiful
XD i love how he tunes in the middle of the song
That's why gibsons suck
Aldo Raine your wrong any guitar can go out of tune like that means you need new strings
Aldo Raine That's not a gibson, its some fake viper thing.
Gibsons are the best guitars out there I prefer SG cherry red, or Gibson standard though. I would say that Jacksons and Ibanezes suck.
thekazuya005 no its a gibson sg-x from the summer beach series look it up
haha i was gonna say you can see the gibson logo. but wether his strings are old, or his tuners suck or whatever, whatever it is it still sounds great
I love when bands do that special intro thing for songs. When I'm playing along to my favorite songs it feels amazing to be able to free style something that might land in proximity to what I'm listening to
So glad they're a band once again
are they?
Yeah. Tom actually left Chiodos to focus on TFOT
sammytheman2000 oh shit they gonna tour again?

i love the intro that they always do on live with this song
This was his at creative prime! that was funny how he tried to fix his string's tuning and he still killed it. Tom Erak everybody 💛
I saw this guy last year and not a single thing has changed. They're amazing live.
*peeps low cut v-neck*
*checks title and upload date, sees '09*
Yup, makes sense
he's in the crowd and still keeps on playing.. ultimate PREVAIL!!!!
I could watch this over and over and never get bored.
tuning and playing at the same time, this man is a god
I saw them live on their last tour, it was so epic and great.
i absolutely luv how he tunes his guitar right in the middle of the song ....he owns
Greetings from Poland. Great band, great music :-)

He is the only person that can make wearing a guitar that high look good.
Shreds harder than lil Wayne

I think its cute wayne thinks he can actually play
Joshua Buyes oh my god, you managed to completely miss the point of a joke and make yourself out to seem like a pretentious asshat

@@7fathomstoport _oh fuck I can't believe you've done this_
God i love that guitar so much...so bummed they stopped making them.
4:29 my favorite part
i was at this same venue. it was so amazing
Tuning the guitar mid song is the most fucking badass thing I've seen. So pro
This is great
Yeah that was awesome! Thank you!

Gotta love the phlegm shots.
Screaming can really clear you up, tell ya what
God I love that guitar

890gg90 facts
Only other one is Omar Rodriguez-Lopez
I always used to think of him as a modern guitar god. He was really the only one like that
Y’all gotta widen your scopes. Tfot is great but they’re hardly the pinnacle.
check out the band Pretty Girls Make Graves. You can hear some similarities to Erak. A Seattle band that has obviously influenced him when he was starting out.
love the intro
His screaming was so much better then
His mouth when he sings...It freaks me out...he's like a muppet...still, it's rad.
This was the best era of the band. Frank is the fucking man
Only Thomas would tune his guitar in the middle of a live show. R.I.P.
REUNION!!!!!!!!!
Nice im seeing april 24th, cant wait.
One of the things you should remember about playing live is, you got to entertain the crowd! I think Erak do that! :)
ahhh, the knuckel touch with frank just compleated this whole video haha
oh man. they needa do the whole Warped next year.
Hahaha, I just love how the strap dropped at the end.
Both Erak and Ene are badasses. I'm seeing them on Apr 24th, sucks that they're breaking up.
I would KILL for that guitar it probably has some special powers
i love the ending chord lol
so sick
And as Thomas jumped into the crowd and continued to fuckin shred the crowd realized that he'd sold his soul to the devil for mad skills.
yea i agree, and adam jones and meshuggah guys arent that fast or technical, but still make great music
that speeeed
I've chatted with Thomas and Frank before... Really nice guys.
wild.
cant wait till im like 40 and they do a reunion tour so i can see them live
Didn't have to wait that long lol....
Nice SG!!!!!

Hey AP, this band has three members.
I want that guitar so fuckin badly it hurts :[
I know I know, blasphemy (although to be fair im not comparing them as guitarists, i think pigeonholing them as just guitarists is a disservice personally) But there's something about his ease as a front man that I've only seen with Hendrix. The best part has to be when frank gives him a fist bump. 'nice brah'

1:44 Napoleon Blownapart .....
Fhpa pofho whaaa?!?!!
Is your youtube channel a representation of musicianship?
@MartyFriedmanRulez66 im deffinately a fan of the guitars, thats the only reason i listen to this band,
nick reinhardt doesnt get neardly as much credit as he deserves
thomas singing while playing tfot parts is impressive enough but nick singing his parts over tera melos lines puts him in a league of his own
since when were they guys on warped 09..?
I know that guy!
