I was so glad to see you get the surgery, and come back so well. Then I had my own life threatening problem, and it only makes me so much more happy to see you doing what makes you happy, realizing what some of us have gone through. Thanks for all you have done over the years here Izzy!

When I was young I used to stay away from fads because I didn't want to be a sheep but I think back on how I was missing out on discovering something neat that ultimately would have brought me closer to my class mates. If you want to build it then build it! Don't create if it's only because your being pressured to though!!!

I'm glad to see you taking my advice and taking it slowly brother. Back issues can be very devastating which I know from experience. I threw my back out yet again today so yeah, seeing you in that chair again reminded me that I'm still fortunate enough not to need one yet, key word is yet. Keep the awesomeness coming and we'll see you in the next one :)

Some years ago I found an image online where they used metal strips that had a string knotted through them to create that tower. I could never figure out how to build one to prove it would work because it required the strips to be under tension in just the right way with knots on each string. Your method with the wood and the side screws is a far superior design and accomplishes the same thing. Awesome project.

    - Nice idea. The rope/cord could have been stiffened with "crafter's fabric stiffener" used to make stiff transparent pieces for Halloween costumes. It stays stiff for years. Cool idea for a table. Thanx 4 sharing.

I've been watching a lot of tensegrity videos recently and not only is it cool to see you do one but I really like your change to the design. I won't be one of the guys who says "You should have done it this way". That being said I am going to say "When I build mine with your design I'll use countersunk screws and wood plugs to make the screws disappear. Great idea though! Thanks!

Possible small variation on the chair - run the rope up through the center of seat, then coil it, creating anything of a cushion.

Izzy, how about using a pair of collets in the top connection, they could be as long as the thickness of the top plate, or even a little more. They would grip the entire circumference of the rope & pull tighter the more pressure that's applied by the tension. It would be a fit once though & no chance of taking it apart to paint or finish it. I know you could make them. Keep well from the UK.

Thought about how much weight the table will (theoretically) support: Is it equal to the upforce applied by Brad when the table was assembled?
