    I listened to many versions of this aria and I finally found that this viola da gamba player is outstanding and has a lot of emotion on her playing.

      That's what's so special about this ensemble: The care and dedication to the music. The highest level of craft & mastery are not even to be mentioned, they're so beyond question. It's the _musical reverence_ that communicates so powerfully.

      I was going to post about her eyes at that spot as well. Her expression reminds me of a painting from Bach's time.

    • @pbasswil
      @pbasswil 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's great that they're totally & visibly invested in the music. But honestly, I wouldn't care if they were winking at each other and smirking. :^> It's the performance - the _sound_ they're generating that's awesome to me. This is world class. And I love the period instruments and appropriate stylistic conventions, especially the sparsity of vibrato (especially the strings, though less so in the singers). Huge shout out to the recording engineers, too. Perfection.

      @@pbasswil the feeling is converted to sound if you are good enough which they are so it definitely matters, if they were smiling and smirking it might not sound as sad as it should

    • @pbasswil
      @pbasswil 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@LuluTravelVideos "smiling and smirking" You took me literally, I was painting an exaggerated picture to make my point: It's the sound that matters to me. Have you ever watched a performer whose movements or demeanor are distracting? When that occasionally happens, I just close my eyes.

    I like her acting. Not sure how important it is in music. Maybe for the experts only sound matters. But I like how she changes her mood while singing "Held aus Juda siegt mit Macht und schließt den Kampf." [Hero of Judah triumphs with power and closes the fight] and them switches back to reality with a deep lament "Es ist Vollbracht" [it is finishe].

    • @sanderspoelstra8072

      Thank god. I was wondering why no one was mentioning this. When I heard the development of the 1st mvt of op. 69 it immediately recognized this theme. But I didn't realize that the op. 110 klagender gesang theme was this same theme until you said it.

    There is something in this aria which could be mistaken to belong to the Romantic-era and not to the Baroque. Or, better: Bach's music in beyond definitions of musical-periods, and this most beautiful performance does justice to the lyrics and to the music as well. Bravi! Thanks NBS!

    Au tout début de cet extrait, l’image reste figée quelques secondes sur la basse, celui qui chante Jésus.
    Le nom de cet Aria « es ist vollbracht » est tiré de l’évangile selon Saint Jean (le verset 19 du chapitre 30) qui dit : « Quand Jésus eut pris le vinaigre, il dit : Tout est accompli. Et, baissant la tête, il rendit l'esprit. »
    Ce début de vidéo ne résulterait-il d’une genre de scénographie, un peu comme les drames liturgiques au Moyen Âge (la basse qui joue Jesus, comme ds l’Ecriture, « baisse la tête » et ensuite, l’alto chante « tout est accompli »).
    Je n’arrive pas à savoir si j’interprète trop ou si la NBS sont vraiment des génies en tous points.
    Quoi qu’il en soit, l’interprétation est prodigieuse, irréprochable et plaindr d’émotions, merci !
