The album that completely changed my taste in music about 45 years ago. Fly Through the County, Barren County and When the Storm is Over are still in my opinion the best albums that NGR ever put out. The 1970’s version of Billy Strings. Absolutely great stuff!!!

You are still a true bluegrass statesman, Sam. Bless you, sir!

Hi Sam, I love the sound of your voice I hope to hear you singing more often.
I have always enjoyed your mandolin playing, but also the times you played fiddle for Doc Watson, man you are awesome!!
Edit: I see Norman Blake on the sign behind you, I hope he is well and playing on like he should!

Love ya Sam! Say, maybe you or somebody can help me to identify a recording I can't find. I think it was. the late '90s. I was driving, and the local NPR station played a long ( half hour or more) instrumental selection that just blew me away. At the time, I got the impression it was an entire album. They credited Sam, and I became an instant fan. There was some fiddle and banjo, bass, mandolin, in it, and it struck me as rather psychedelic, or rock'nroll jam band inspired; totally bluegrass though, yet even kinda classically structured. It was fast tempo and sort of like an ongoing "breakdown" . I loved it. Does anybody have an idea what I heard?

    Quite the hand-clap, sing along.
Sounds like main character should spend less time leaning on the Holy Bible. More time reading the Holy Bible ... preferably somewhere other than the local tavern.
Try reading again Exodus 20: v17
As well. Go to a man of God who knows the difference between titles baptism and baptism in the title-name-title of Lord Jesus Christ

Come on Sam. You're a hot picker. Why play such a boring guitar part. A little cross picking guitar and a few hot licks would have brightened this performance up.
