Sam channeling ole John Hartford there bout half way through this masterpiece. Cowan on another planet vocally- two genius minds who luckily met and got along.
Years ago could hear this all the time in Louisville, Ky. This performance was done in Louisville. New Grass based themselves in Louisville after John joined the group. There were a number of bars that they frequented. Got to hear new material being developed, especially after Bela's entrance. And there were always 'friends' that would show up and play with them.
Best cover of this tune ever! Sam does this tune often in his live shows, always a treat! Always loved John Cowan's voice and style, he's damn good on Bass too! Thanks for the upload!
Standing at the bottom of the stage in Flagstaff for this one at a county fair. Couldn't believe not people where there. OMG it was awesome. Thanks for posting.
You know, i ran sound for Sam and John in Evansville,In BITD. Blues band. I'm telling you what. Those guys can play. Also worked w/Sam an Emmie Lou w/ EPO, and John when he played at Bluegrass in the Park in Henderson,KY. Some people at the show said " that isn't bluegrass" but I differ. John is one helloaplayer! oops! he had a drummer. Love both of you gentlemen. I would love to work w/ you again.
Been waiting to hear someone do that with a mandolin. Wish I'd known about them in 1992! Spilled milk now I guess, huh? Well, at least there is this great video!! Thanks for the post! What a duo! Great song. Good stuff.
seeing these guys around town is the main thing I miss about living in Nashville. One of the few Little Feat covers to justice to the original. "Truck Stop Girl" by the Byrds w/Clarence White on vocals is pretty nifty too.
that's what I thought until Sam & John did this! Not many can do a Little Feat song that I love as much as their version. I love these guys but was hesitant until I played it. Love it.
How can you not help but love Sam and John
Happy to say I was there for this event.
They're great as a duo.
This is one of my favorite live videos, I come back to it all the time and share it on social media about once a year. How can you not love this romp?
Sam Bush Blue Grass Metal Rocks!

John Cowan sings. Good lord that boy is gifted by the Almighty.
John Cowan - one of the pioneers that made it okay for the electric bass to be in bluegrass. I thank him for that... and I wish I had his voice!!
Absolutely incredible. Loved this band.
Great music, instrumental , vocal , total musicianship.
I have been watching these guys since the 70's they are unbelievable talents and some of the finest musicians in the country
Two of my favorite men on the earth! Can't say how many times I've watched this. Not enough yet though.
Thanks for posting this video- only 14,000 views?
We're the fortunate few to see this! To think millions are watching American Idol tonight!

I wasn't sure ANYBODY could cover Lowell George and Little Feat but these two sure as hell pull it off.
Phish doesn't do too bad with Feat. 👣

Sam and John, you sound so wonderful together and apart As a singer, I just adore you.
Just so gosh darn great!
San thanx for your tapes that taught me to play mandolin.
Sam on the mando and John's voice...dang, that's downright righteous.
They're great separately but magic together!!

lefty, might I be so bold as to suggest for inclusion in your list above Robert Palmer's funkified version of this very song.
this song has always done it for me

Ain't no sense in this kind of Stank! Two awesome talents!
That's the first time I've ever seen someone slide their instrument instead of fingers. My brain was not prepared.
That's New Grass!

I can't tell if John is clapping in some weird syncopation or if he just can't find the beat lololll
4 people didn't put on their sailin' shoes.
What year is this video?
You know, not many bands even atempt a litte feat tune. It's real hard to duplicate Richie's groove.
