the $3 tier is best for those of you who want to support my channel
the $8 tier is best for those of you who just want to see my newest tutorials. After they are up for a month, they go to my $13 or $30 tier
the $13 tier is for access to all but my super advanced and professional level tutorials. This is the best tier for beginners who have never joined my Patreon and gives you access to my best tutorials that are at the level of what would normally be a course because they cover SO MUCH and will teach you how to paint anything, not just the subject of the tutorial. You will learn design principles you can apply to ANY painting, as well as techniques. You'll learn about not just the how, but the why of watercolor!
the $30 tier is for advanced members who want to learn the business side of art as well as watch my more advanced paintings that I create for commissions and enter into national gallery level shows.

It is because of you all who follow and support me that I am able to rely on my art instead of going into a stressful 9-5 social work job and I appreciate you SO SO much. The combination of having fibromyalgia, being an older mom with a child who has more health needs than typical has made my art and the income I make from it LITERALLY a lifesaver. Thank you so much, and know when you support me through Patreon, buying art, or even just commenting on, liking, and sharing my social media posts, you are the reason this is all possible for me. You are supporting a living artist, and it means so much to me!

The best video ever! Can’t thank you enough. No one ever shows how to start a painting.

Glad it was helpful Sue! What I was trying to show was how important all the THINKING and planning about basic design is before you even start, and choosing a good reference will put you miles ahead of all the hard work of figuring out how to make a beautiful painting. I don't know if I communicated that well to connect the dots.

Rachel, that was fabulous. I’ve been wanting to hear about the thinking process as to how to approach a painting. This was super helpful.

I'm so glad! There are many ways to approach starting a painting and choosing a subject and I hoped sharing my way would give my viewers some new ideas to incorporate into their process.

Thanks as usual, very helpful. I have to learn to be more patient with my backgrounds!

From the feedback I get from viewers, MANY people struggle with backgrounds and I myself find them harder to design and plan than the main subject of the painting. So you're not alone!

So many great observations and suggestions! I absolutely loved that granulation and how you let the water do the work! Thank you 😊❤

I’ve never tried watercolor, I paint with oil and acrylic. I have to tell you, your artwork is beautiful! I love the background and loose style, and I can’t wait to see this piece come together! You’ve tempted me to explore watercolor 🤣
    Great video, thanks!

Oooooh you should try watercolor -it's fun if you let it do its thing without trying to be over controlling!

Great video, but I’m wondering why you didn’t put the dog down a bit more on the paper?

This painting is as much about his shadow as the dog

I can’t wait to see what magic happens between the granulation and WC ground!

It's granulating out so much and also the cauliflowers are so good! I updated the Patreon post with a picture at www.patreon.com/posts/how-i-start-111205127

Racial, love your videos and work but there is no one single way. I have my own processes, and yes they are not like yours but I get the job done. What works for one doesn't necessarily work for all.

These are the exact kind of comments that force the content creators to have to say useless time wasting disclaimers throughout their videos. Obviously there's more than one way.

@@redfo3009 Haha yes I've learned to do disclaimers about using apparently triggering words like 'rules' ; )
