    I've been riding motorcycles for 50 years. I've ridden sport bikes, touring bikes, dirt bikes, road-racers, drag bikes, and adventure bikes. I bought a 2018 BMW G 310GS 1 yr ago, and I must say this is a really fun bike! It looks good, rides and handles extremely well, and is plenty versatile. I don't see it as a beginner bike at all! It's more of a dual purpose, lightweight commuter bike that is a hoot off road! Kudos to BMW for importing this made in India adventure bike to the American market! Who would have thought that you could buy a quality BMW motorcycle for $6K? It's way worth the money!

      Agree as I am on the short side of average and touching my 7th decade. I find it too hard to swing a leg over most of todays dual purpose bikes. This is checking all the right box's for me!

      How the bike do at 70? Are you redlining it, or does it have a little more ompf to get out of a stick situation? Can it cruise at 70 without the engine screaming out?

    Your review of this bike is devoid of any real and useful information imo. I own one and am not a beginner. I traded in a GS800 for it and have a lot more fun off road on the 310 because there is less weight to deal with and adequate performance. I am able to do trails on the 310 that i would have had to turn away from on the 800. If you like off road, you are ultimately going to hit something difficult even if it was not your intention. At that time, you will be delighted that you are on a 310.

      Someone who rides a Sport Bike to work does a review of an Adventure bike in the spec of what is most commonly ridden on massive adventures across the globe, calls it a beginner bike constantly lol. Obviously wont have the power of a sportbike but has none of the issues associated with it either. This bike is an awesome offering by BMW. It is more comparative to a Honda CRF 300Rally or KTM 390 Adventure, etc. etc. Different bikes for different functions.

    I don’t think the term beginner bike applies to this beauty.

    • @ikeus6857

      Agree!.. I am really getting sick of the over usage of the term " beginner bike." In no way.. Other than something Grome sized with under 125cc or so engines is nothing short of insulting to both the riders and smaller motorcycles.

    Uh ... been riding all kinds of bikes (mostly sport bikes) for 30 years ... and still love this machine. But, yeah, it is great for entry level, too. But, it really makes it sound minimal. Which it is not. And there are several competitors. And the seat is quite comfy for its size.

  • @maurobe9555
    @maurobe9555 5 ปีที่แล้ว +28

    Stop calling a smaller bike "for beginner" or "entry level" . It is WRONG. I have had all sort of big bikes and l am now considering to buy one of these smaller and lighter bikes offered by BMW, Honda, or Kawa.

    • @saturatedfat6542
      @saturatedfat6542 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      People who call these smaller bikes, "beginner bikes" are people who haven't riden all their life. These smaller bikes will get used 10 times more then a litre bike. For me, I'm considering the 2019 CB500X ... but this G310GS looks very enticing.

      They can’t say that a 1200gs or 1290 Ktm is difficult and not for everyone.
      They have to play this down for profits.

  • @Liberty4Ever

    It's a great bike for the global market. I just bought a new old stock 2019 G310GS with nice incentives to make room for the improved 2021 version in a couple of months in the US. It's already selling in India.
    I wish there was a rally version with a much larger tank, spoke wheels, better suspension... made in Germany that sells for less than twice the price.

    for living in a dense city which allows you to travel between cars, where fuel prices are like $7 a gallon and it being so much cheaper than the 1200.. its a 9.5/10 imo. only thing is that muffler sound but for $1k that's easily replaced.

    Just get the versys-x 300 far more refined, better for street usage, same for offroad, 310 gs gets better for offroad is you put 2000-3000 in customization, it is a better platform for customization than the versys

    You really shouldn't put so much emphasis on beginner bike, just because it has less cc's. I've been riding 650, 800 and 1000cc bikes for over 30 years and am really considering a 250 to 400cc bike.

    • @DukeOfDC
      @DukeOfDC  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m not sure why people get offended when I mention this is a beginner bike. The majority of people buying them are. That being said, it’s obviously a bike any level of rider could be proud to own. So odd that people feel the need to comment this, when I never say that someone more experienced couldn’t own it.

    • @zombiewoof5257
      @zombiewoof5257 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DukeOfDC Don't worry, I'm not offended in any way, and other reviewers of the bike also point out it's a very good beginners bike, but somehow it seem to stand out more in your review.
      It's all relative: When I started riding, a 650cc bike was considerred a beginners bike, anything less wasn't even looked at.

      BMW should have a $5000.00 bike because it gets asses on saddles and then these new customers will aspire to get into another BMW down the line. "BMW Motorrad G310R and G310GS, made at the TVS facility in India, are among the top five BMW motorcycles Worldwide." FYI, I have a S1000XR and I'm getting a G310GS next week.

      Not built in China, but what is the Mini? A small luxury car and part of BMW. They invented the segment, really. The 310's and the c400 scooters appear to be trying to follow that model.
