+eWaste Ben Thats an excellent result for you Ben. Just goes to show what kind of quantities you can get from commercial companies with a bit of luck.

+The Urban MIner biggest are still schools for me, i've had to hire a big truck to do some pick ups, trick is to just put the word out and over time good ones will call

+eWaste Ben Im only a part timer Ben as I design kitchens for a main living though at some point I want to get into recycling as my only income. Ive had some success with some businesses through word of mouth and local community wedsites and also a local college that will let me have sporadic electronics when they have them but I havnt even scratched the surface yet on what I could do. Mostly it comes from homes that I collect from.
With the worldwide drop in scrap right now Im holding back on any full commitment yet and as the regulations in UK are pretty strict and its costly to get the licences to do this operation properly Im content to do it low key at the moment and just stockpile. Ive got more than enough electronics to keep me going...if anything Im time poor at the moment and the items come in quicker than I can strip them down!!

+The Urban MIner Yeah you want to cover all bases before you go pro, have things like plastic and cardboard covered, best if you can get a recycler to pick it up free so you don't spend time on it. some kind of business plan to run off, heavy advertising with flyers and a basic website so people can get a little more info.
When I started steel was 25c kg, now at 4c kg it's really hit my cash flow putting pressure on to scrap a lot to be able to sell all the time, when steel was up I could let things build up like copper and wire, then I could sell at times yards were paying top dollar, it can mean 20% more money for the good stuff and makes your bottom line much better end of the year.
I can do a tonne of steel a week easily which was $200 - $250 a week for pretty much rubbish, now just $40 so yeah, best to wait until it get's back up to $100 Tonne at least, but planning takes time so that's what i'd be doing right now, putting things on paper, even advertising material ideas and swooping as soon as it's come good again
