    Excellent video! Very sensible modifications that I wouldn’t doubt Axopar incorporates into their future build options. I would love to see Axopar retool their 28 deck layout into a closed bow with aft galley, something similar to the 27 Ranger Tug with a V berth. It could be the perfect “pocket cruiser” to do the Great Circle Loop in the USA. I also disconnected and removed the electric pumpout head in my boat and replaced with a porta pot. Keep the Axopar videos coming!

    Excellent review Bart. Looking seriously at Axopar after many years away from boating in 29-35ft cabin express cruiser class. Not sure if the 28 Cabin will only have me longing for the 37XC in a short period of time. The flexibility ease of use of this 28 Cabin review has me thinking of sticking with the 28 for additional benefits of initial cost, ongoing cost maintenance and running a single outboard vs twins Top speeds are equal to a twin 37 as well. Thanks again for the great review!

      Hello Phil, great to hear. With very mixed feelings and pain in my heart I just sold my boat, it now is sailing from a place called Zeewolde.
      I did order a new one though, it will be at our end somewhere in November. We will then be installing twin V6 200's, with joystick.
      I have not made up my mind fully yet about the dashboard. I love the new glass display for the 28 for modelyear 21, that really keeps the dashboard clean and efficient.
      Keep following our channel, I hope to be making a video on my own new boat early December at the latest.

    Hello Bart! Thank you for another very informative and detailed video! Just a note on the consumption. Your original assumption is valid in hulls without steps. Then the most economical speed is a little bit over the planning speed as you said. In this case though, the consumption does not increase considerably after planning because of the steps! They begin to work right after planning and when you speed up a little bit more they suck air and lubricate the hull where in contact with the water. That increases dramatically the efficiency of the boat at high speeds!

      Hi there, thank you for this useful info. In the meantime, that is exactly my experience. I have test reports of the 28 with different engines and that is exactly the result. Great efficient hull and a very practical and fun boat!

    Great review Bart, laughed when you were talking about the fuel economy and wondered when you would sell to get the new 2021 boat with the 30% fuel economy improvements!
    I was trying to work out if it was better to go with the twin engines for safety reasons as I would be going offshore to the outer Barrier Reef. Why did you select the twin engines over the previous single mercury verado? and why are you switching to install the Joystick? I am in sunny Australia and wondered if I could purchase and customise through you and then import to Australia? I need an air conditioner and solar panels and a heap of other equipment to extend liveability for sunny Queensland :)

      @Kemperswatersport  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hi Glen, thank you for your compliment. It is truly great to know that even at the other side of our globe, our videos are appreciated!
      Here are some thoughts and answers, which are partly a copy of a reply to someone else's comment which I cannot seem to retrieve at this moment. Anyway:
      There are a few reasons why I chose for a twin setup. But first I must say that I really loved the single L6-400 Verado. It is extremely smooth and quiet, even slightly better than the newer V8's. But the new V6 and V8 engines have some advantages:
      The weight is quite a bit lower
      They have a better torque
      Having them in white is cheaper than with the L6's
      It is much easier to check the oil level
      Maintenance it easier and thus cheaper
      So those are few advantages. Besides that, I personally wanted to have twin V6's since we have many customers who are in doubt between a single or twin installation, now we'll actually have a boat for them to also experience a twin installation.
      And another, more important, and personal reason is that, since we'll also be installing the Seastar Optimus joystick system, my wife will be more confident to take the boat and our kids out when I don't have time. I really would like them to enjoy being outside on the water, instead of staying indoors with an ipad ;)
      The 30% fuel economy improvement that you state is not always correct, it certainly would not be for me since I do a lot of slow driving. My experience is that at really low speeds (below 8 knots), the L6's are more fuel efficient. When going faster than roughly 25 knots, the new V8's in turn are more fuel efficient.
      I really would recommend that you buy your Axopar locally. Eyachts, the dealer in Australia, is a very active dealer and I am confident that they can help you with many of the customization wishes you may have. You are lucky that you need an airconditioner, we really don't so we don't have experience with this, I am sure they can help though.
      There also is a very active Axopar Owner's Facebook page, you may want to apply for that page since you can find a lot of user experiences, thoughts and advice there.
      I hope to be getting my new Axopar 28 Cabin with twin V6's and Seastar Optimus joystick somewhere in November. Depending how busy our workshop is around that time, I hope to be on the water soon and will also be making a review. Keep following our channel!
      Best regards,
      Bart Kempers

    I am also considering a 37 Sun Top but with the Verado 350 engines instead of the new 300 V8. I have not driven the 300 but from what I hear from the videos they are louder than the 350. Many people from the Axopar owners group insist on the newer 300 because of the newer technology and low end torque. I would like to hear your thoughts of choosing either the one or the other and pros and cons.

    • @Kemperswatersport
      @Kemperswatersport  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Spyros. The choice you make is a personal one and should be based on your preferences. There are pros and cons for both types of engines. But you're right, the new V8's are louder in my opinion, but the torque is better. I suggest you talk to your dealer and try to test both.
      Always welcome in the Amsterdam area but we only sell in The Netherland and Belgium.

    • @Kemperswatersport
      @Kemperswatersport  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Steve, no, I've had 0 leakage. There is a sliding part, and an additional outer cover which really keeps out the water like it should. I've been out in serious rainy weather, not a drop inside the cabin.

  • @justseait9549
    @justseait9549 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I also wanted to ask, does the sliding roof flutter at high speeds? Does the engine noise get any quieter when you close the roof? How about rain and insulation? Does it keep water out and the warmth inside?

    • @Kemperswatersport
      @Kemperswatersport  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No, the sliding roof does not flutter at high speeds, maybe slightly in strong winds. And yes, the engine noise is less with the roof closed. But a new Mercury V8 or L6 Verado is already really quiet. And yes, rain stays out in a perfect way, it works as insulation quite well but it could be improved if an extra layer of insulation would be used on the top cover. I have used it in conditions below 0 degrees and found it to be quite ok, but I am thinking about improving it even further.

      Hi Shingnosis, thank you for your compliment. The reason why we use km/h is that speedlimits here in The Netherlands are usually in km/h. Also, we have a big percentage of non-boaters who buy Axopar and Sea Ray boats who are not used to knots or nautical miles.
      I'll take the monster as a compliment, with a Verado 400 it is a true monster. I recently sold it, now have a 2021 on order with twin V6 200's. We'll be installing the Seastar Optimus Joystick system also so keep following our channel!
