I love how natural and typical this whole scene is, you always meet someone you know at funerals and if its not a huge loss, you do find moments to talk seriously and also crack a few jokes

I love how everyone respected Bobby Sr. and the way Junior always was quick to set Janice straight when she'd open her mouth and say something stupid, which is almost every time they were together while he was still well.
It used to be that when you passed gas, you would cough to cover it up. Now with 'rona, it's the other way around. (stolen but too good not to pass around)
That scene was by far one of the best executed scenes in the show's history. When I feel like taking a nostalgic trip down the Soprano memory lane, that's always the first scene I start with. From beginning to end, it was truly gripping. Watching him walk in to the house, coughing his lungs out, putting on the "Sick old man" show so instantly every one else's guards are down. Even sitting down and talking to Mustang Sally, he's coming across as almost too sick to keep up a conversation with him. It isn't until Sally rises from his chair to fetch Bobby Sr. a drink, where we see him quietly and subtly slip back in to his old lifestyle of "Gangster". His coughing stops and his voice goes smooth and even while he silently approaches Sally with his pistol drawn. I will always have an appreciation for the fans of this show that were also big fans of that one scene.

That was a nice little subtle scene. Carmella's mom would donate to the poor box, but she wanted to make sure she got credit for it by giving it directly to the priest.
He’s more defensive of elderly and infirm because he knows he’s next. He doesn’t wan people speaking about him like that but he knows they will because they always do when you are dead

This scene implies that Tony will handle the hit. Bobby Sr stands up and handles it personally, showing how much respect he has for the code. He hates his nephew and only became his Godfather as a favor, but he still feels a responsibility for Sally’s actions. He will not allow anyone else to clean up a mess made by one of his family members. He may be the most respected character in the series due to his unwavering commitment to the code.
Burt Young is an interesting Renaissance man. He served in the Marines, boxed under the tutelage of the great Cus D'Amato and studied acting under the great Lee Strassberg. Soldier, boxer, actor, author and painter.
If they ever made a movie about the Philly Crime Family, Bobby Sr/Burt Young would’ve made a perfect Tony Bananas Caponigro. He looks just like him. He was the Consigliere of the Philly family that assassinated Boss Angelo Bruno without commission approval. Chin Gigante had him tortured and killed.
What’s interesting about Bobby Senior is that he was clearly a legend back in his day. But considering he’s known for being the boogeyman in Jersey, it’s amazing he got to the age that he did. A guy like that wouldn’t move up to the positions that Bobby Jr later does, and I think that’s probably why he survived.
I like the end when junior talks about what kind of way of that to talk about a sick person. With his character, had he not gotten cancer himself, he'd have made that joke himself. Another instance of great writing in this show, just shows how most of the characters are self centered hypocrites.
The respect Bacala Sr received and the way he made fun of Junior, you can tell how great a barber he was.
